Hotel Madrid Rio

We were searching for a cheap hotel with good public transportation to the city center of Madrid and we were travelling with 4yo son. For the price you cant expect much, but I guess we also received cheaper hotel room. Window view was going to the inside part of the house, so no view at all basically. But it surprised us we had a television, very nice bathroom and comfortable bed. The location was perfect for us, lots of public transportation options nearby, shopping center and restaurants nearby, even smal market with daily stuff under the building. If you search something cheaper and you know you will mainly only sleep here, it is a right choice for you as was for us.

Beds are quite comfortable, that's a plus and mainly what you're looking for, reception and workers are friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is a nice and secure sector, which has very good options of transport: there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel's entrance, also there are other stops nearby as well as an access to the metro station and it's quite easy to pick a taxi; there are restaurants and good stores literally on the same street and a shopping mall a few blocks from the hotel. On the not so good stuff, unfortunately there are not few things to mention, for example: Wi-Fi encryption is not secure, it's not updated to more secure standards so better buy a data plan and use it or be sure you have data roaming activated. The entrance is poorly accessible, the counter is at the second floor so if you're carrying heavy bags you'll have to lift them through the stairs. Despite smoking it's forbidden, the hallways smell strongly of cigarettes. And the towels smell weird, a combination of cigarette and stored long time ago, better use yours instead. There's better options than this one for the same price in Madrid, hate to do this but I hope the hotel use this to improve.
