Hotel Indigo Madrid - Princesa

Hotel Indigo Madrid - Princesa

Madrid|1.46km from Teatro Real
Like in other reviews, the main pro about this hotel is location. Very convenient for metro and bus access, and within reasonable walking distance to the Palacio Real. However, that’s about the only reason to book this hotel. The Front Desk staff was rude, unaccommodating, and just plain wrong. He insisted that the room was not suitable for two when the booking and rate type, both in my confirmation email and in the IHG app, clearly showed “SLEEPS 2.” When I asked if it’s a twin bed in the room, he said no it’s a queen. So I asked what’s the problem then? As we were getting our keys he then said by the way breakfast would normally be for one but in this case I give you guys the second breakfast free. As if he were trying to come across as doing us a favor, when I know for a fact that the rate I booked included breakfast for up to two guests. Our best guess is this person was ********** (it was myself and my ******** partner) and couldn’t stand the idea of us being in this room together. This is also all without so much as even acknowledging my loyalty (Gold) with IHG. I’ve stayed at Holiday Inn Expresses with considerably more welcoming staff than this man (won’t name him by name unless IHG reaches out) displayed at this property. Stay at this property for the location but don’t pay anything more than 60€ per night. Anything more than that is a rip off. And don’t expect to be given a warm welcome by this particular front desk person. There was another person - a woman - working the front desk but our interactions with her were unfortunately limited. Perhaps the experience would have been better if we had been welcomed by her as she was considerably more pleasant.

We stayed at the Hotel Opera recently for the second time, to celebrate a special Wedding Anniversary. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The hotel is centrally located, right next to the Opera House and close to all the attractions of central Madrid. We had nothing but excellent service from the staff throughout our whole stay - they are very responsive and helpful. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you need including a few little extras like a comb and shoeshine. Breakfast was excellent every morning, a great choice of English-style and continental offerings, The Spanish tortilla and home-made fruit tarts are particularly recommended. You need to book breakfast at a specific time, and this avoids the ”scrum” that some previous reviewers have described. Just two things prevent me giving a 5-star review. First of all it is some time since the hotel was refurbished so some of the fittings are starting to look a little tired. Secondly the cafe has changed since we were last there, it used to be possible to get tapas-style snacks from a counter display 24/7, now it is table service with hot food only available when the kitchen is open - in the evening it starts serving at 8pm which is a little late for us, so if you feel the same you need to go out to one of the many good tapas bars around. But overall we love this hotel and will certainly revisit!
Hostal Central Palace Madrid

The location of the hotel is very good, just opposite the palace, the suite room is large, clean and comfortable, the hotel also sent a bottle of red wine and a bottle of wine without knowing what to drink, all delicious, drinking and chatting in the living room at night is very pleasant. To the Suns, the English Palace, Plaza Mayor, it is very close. The hotel is too low-key, there is no obvious sign, it is not easy to find the door, the hotel is downstairs is a coffee shop, ask someone else to find it, you have to enter another door to enter the door, go up the elevator to the first floor is the lobby.

We chose this hotel because it was near the square where we met our tour guide for the El Prado Museum and the Madrid Royal Palace. The hotel was perfectly located near restaurants and shops. The room was very comfortable and Elvera at the front desk was SO HELPFUL and sweet. She helped with directions and recommendations. There was a taxi stand around the corner but she called for a taxi for us when we checked out and needed to get to the airport. Breakfast was not included but was discounted for more that one night stays. Highly recommend this hotel.

Visited for 4 days in the week, don't let the name Hostel fool you,its a clean, newly refurbished hostel ,with tasteful furnishings, clean, adequately designed rooms, ,Can be a little noisy ,but that's due to its city centre location, ,Near the Opera metro ,a lift up to the hostel entrance, so no problems if stairs are tricky, There is no facility for breakfast, but very reasonable cafes nearby to partake if wanted,
