As a Marriott Titanium / Lifetime Platinum Elite Guest, our family [husband, wife and two young daughters] decided to visit Madrid, Spain to start our month-long 2023 summer vacation in Europe. We spent five (5) nights at Westin Palace Madrid using our Bonvoy points in late May / early June 2023. Please see the thirty-eight (38) photos we posted with this review of all aspects of the hotel. Within days after making our five (5) night stay using Marriott Bonvoy points approximately ten (10) months prior to our arrival date, we emailed General Manager, Pablo Flores and advised him of our future stay as well as our special requests, including our request for an Executive Suite, which would comfortably host our family of four. Within hours of our email, we received a thoughtful reply Paloma Hidalgo, Director of Rooms, whom immediately provided us with a complimentary guaranteed upgrade to an Executive Suite and further, Ms. Hidalgo readily granted all of our other special requests. The prompt response did not come as a surprise to us given how active the management of this property is in reading and promptly replying to past guests on Trip Advisor as well as the Marriott Bonvoy website, which is but a mere sign of management’s commitment to exemplary customer service. Not surprisingly, we were overjoyed with such a response and really looked forward to our future stay at The Westin Palace Madrid. This gorgeous historic hotel is magnificently located in Madrid overlooking the Neptune Fountain and less than a three minute walk to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, less than a five minute walk to the Prado Museum and less than a ten minute walk to the Reina Sofia Museum. It is also extremely close to Retiro Park and is within an easy 15 minute walk to Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and the Gran Via as well as many bars, restaurant, trendy cafés, market and other cultural attractions. You can easily walk everywhere throughout the entire city but public transportation options abound in close proximity to the hotel as well. Our initial visit to the Westin Palace Madrid did not disappoint, especially when the hotel accommodated our extremely early check-in (before 9:00 am). The check-in process with Ms. Hidalgo, Estefanía Martinez, Front Office Assistant Manager and Juan at the reception desk was a breeze. Further, Ms. Martinez was kind enough to personally escort us to our suite and show us all of the features and amenities of same. This was very thoughtful on the part of Ms. Martinez and very much appreciated. Throughout our entire five (5) night stay, Ms. Hidalgo and Ms. Martinez were especially helpful and friendly. We simply loved our Palace Executive Suite with slightly over 1,000 square feet in total space with a sublime view of the Neptune Fountain; it was truly remarkable. Further, upon entering, we discovered that Mr. Flores and his team were kind enough to provide us with several 1 liter bottles of both sparking water (Vichy Catalan) and sti

We spent one week in late April 2023 at the Doubletree Madrid Prado on the first leg of a four week visit to Spain. We were attracted to the hotel because of its location, modest size and many positive reviews. Our expectations were high and they were exceeded! We were warmly greeted and efficiently checked in on arrival. Because we were staying for seven nights, we had booked a King Superior room and were assigned room 301 which was spacious, well furnished and full of light and we were very comfortable there. Perhaps due to its size (only about sixty rooms over five floors), its understated lobby and its exceptional level of service, the hotel has an intimacy that that we found very appealing. The location in the upscale Las Letras district was perfect for us as walkers: very near the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen museums and within walking distance of Retiro Park, the boutiques of Calle Serrano and even the Royal Palace and Atocha Station. With the help of the front desk staff (especially Cristina) we found some great restaurants (of which our favourite was Vinoteca Moratin, reviewed separately) and tapas bars within five to ten minutes walk from the hotel. Because of our Hilton status we enjoyed a generous and graciously and efficiently served continental breakfast (excellent coffee, juices, fresh fruit, toast and assorted pastries) every morning; if we were to make one suggestion about breakfast, it would be to add a protein (yogurt or cheese or a selection of meats) to the continental buffet. Overall, we were delighted with our stay at the Doubletree Madrid Prado and we would stay there again if we return to Madrid. We recommend it without reservation to anyone looking for a well-located, upscale but understated, unpretentious and reasonably priced hotel in Madrid.

I don't even know where to start. I've booked a bed in a 8 mixed bed dorm, I got a bed but I was the only girl in the room wich, ti say the least, made things weird. The bed was clean and comfortable - the only clean thing in the hotel. The 8 bed dormitory had a fan that was not working so on the 6th of August with nearly 40°C outside and 8 peopple in the same room ...you would just boil - i did not find this human at all. The other thing that was very unhuman was that the room had only 1 toilette and 1 shower. There was no other shared toilet on the hallway. The shower was clogged most of the time so you basically had to lie with your feet in the water that everybody has used before you- absolutely disgusting. The one and only toilet has a big gap under the door so it was like you were pissing and pooping in front of everybody else in the room. Both the shower and the toilette did not have a fan. The people at the reception were not friendly and it took them about 25 minutes to check me in and give me a key which is outrageousI asked for a bottle of water as they have a leaflet at reception saying they have bottles of watter, coffee & tea. I waited for about 10 minutes because the guy at the reception was busy talking to someone else so i asked again and the he said they're out of water and gave me a little glas of tap watter instead. The card to open the door keep deactivating itself so every time I'd just have to go back to reception and wait for the people bahind the desk to finish their important conversation before haveing the card reactivated. At checkout you just wait to get back your 5 euro for the key, similar with stone age only they have a safe box, so the person bahind the desk just scrolls through envelopes till she/he finds the one that has your name written on it. I don't need to get my exact money back, just the 5 euro. The wifi works fine. Overall I really do not recommend the place.

The hotel is at a great location, which is within walking distance to almost all the attractions in Madrid. The parliament is nearby the hotel, which is safe. It's clean and has good service! Turning left and walking for 30 meters, there is a good restaurant, which is cost-effective.

The location of the hotel is very good, the rooms are not big, but very clean and hygienic, the sheets are washed very white, it is very comfortable at first glance. The breakfast is also very rich, that is, the breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays starts at 8 o’clock. When I leave, I catch a plane on Saturday. There is no breakfast when I get down at 7:30. The front desk said that there are some simple food and drinks in the small bar. Point, it feels more humane, the experience of staying in is very good, it is recommended!

Lovely hotel, amazingly centrally situated, and so we were able to walk to all the things we needed to see and do. Breakfast excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food. Staff generally very kind and polite. Our one complaint was that the TV in the bedroom we had, kept losing or freezing the picture on the BBC world news channel, and a small icon kept appearing from LG, which after waiting a while restored the screen. We complained about this on the first morning we were there, and the reception noted it and siad an engineer would go and attend to it. This was not done and for the whole stay sadly we were frustrated by the TV which was really of no use to us what so ever. I have read other similar stories on Tripadvisor about the same complaint, and so clearly the hotel is aware of the problem but seemingly chooses not to do anything about it. This is a shame, beacuse something so easy, and expected would make a huge difference to one's enjoyment of the room. Other than that, really we had no complaints, and would certainly stay again.

A charm of the beginning to the end. The place, decoration, ambience, everything was perfect. But especially a small care team, laughing and warm, careful of your well being and your happiness.
