I really want to write a bad review ! lol we booked the grapes hotel as we looked on trip advisor and the responses to the negative reviews were hilarious - sorry to the folks that don’t appreciate great welsh hospitality ! We arrived and there was a small hiccup re booking dinner but we got a table immemdiately !! The food was AMAZING huge portions and tasted great :) highly recommend the mix grill and the salmon ! I had a very minor issue with part of the meal and the waitress immediately said she would swap it out but the meals were so big it wasn’t needed The staff ? From check in to check out were amazing !! Attentive and nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with great hospitality - we went there for our silver wedding annniversary and had cottage number 2 - it was clean cosy and comfortable - it was very warm with additional duvets and pillows in the bathroom cupboards and an additional heater / cooler in the drawer in the bedroom with a hairdryer - it was so warm even though it was cold that day that we didn’t need any of the additional things - the shower did drop in from hot to cold instantly so a bit tricky but other than that we had everything we could need - view is amazing from the restaurant as well Bedroom and bathroom via entrance - lounge is up stairs Food great, bar great, accomodation great, staff amazing ! Thank you for making our silver wedding anniversary special :) THANKYOU TO EVERYONE OF THE STAFF FOR MAKING PUR WEEKEND SO WONDERFUL X

We met some friends here, myself and my husband ordered Ham Egg and chips. The menu said ‘hand cut chips’ this was no the case, they looked like chip shop chips and they had been warmed up, not just once but I think several times. The ham and eggs were ok nothing to write home about we got a teaspoonful of frozen peas and all for the price of £15.95. Will we go again! NO

You can't knock the food, great but the service was awful. Booked a table in the main room but away from the noisy fly thing. We turned up on time and was made to wait 45min. One group turned up an hour late and they got a table before us along with two other groups. By the time we got a table, the food I was after had just sold out. Thanks! It's gone down hill since we were here before, maybe avoid?

Where do I start. We were visiting the go-below ultimate extreme activity in Blaenau Ffestiniog and were looking for something close by. Thank goodness we found this hidden little gem. We were a group of 6 and booked the top floor suite which comprised of 3 fabulously designed bedrooms, a gorgeous lounge, fully functional kitchen and fantastic bathroom. I could have moved in !!. The views from the lounge window were truly stunning. The staff on arrival were wonderful and very accommodating. This is a traditional local pub and restaurant so we had everything we needed for our 2 nights. The food is nothing short of exceptional and the bar was suitably stocked for our group !!!! Although they have needed to replenish after we left (Henry !!!!). There is also a games room below the pub which has darts, pool table etc…. We were made to feel very welcome and very much part of the “family”. A special mention to Yolo who was simply a superb host with an amazing personality and lots of humour but this applied to all the staff who were all amazing. If someone asked me to find any negative or fault I could not give you one - it was truly superb and I hope at some point we get a chance to return. Martine, Adam, Henry, Ollie and Darcie

Welcoming & friendly staff, fantastic service, yummy food and lots of it. Very good value for money. This is a great base for Snowdon which is approx 40 min drive from The Grapes. We used the park and ride at Nant Paris, & bus to Pen y Pass took 10 mins if that, and very easy to navigate. You will save money this way rather than parking at the official car parks. Excellent stay in the cottage apartment, we couldn’t fault it! We look forward to coming back next time! Dan & Jess xx

We were staying in Maentwrog and we had a meal at The Grapes on the Friday evening. We had read great reviews so we were very disappointed by the bad service. It was so busy when we arrived and it was not clear who to speak to to say we had a table booked. When we finally attracted the attention of a lady behind the bar she was quite curt and said she was busy serving. Eventually we spoke to a man who was wandering around with a clip board and he showed us our table, which was not in a very good position, and he said he would be back to take our order, as he did not materialise for ages the barman kindly took our order instead. I have to say the food was excellent but our evening spoiled by the terrible service. Maybe they shouldn't take bookings if there is not enough staff to cope. We did not feel like a valued customer.

Excellent food, Excellent service. We came for dinner on a busy Friday night. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the steak and ale pie. Beautiful home cooked food. Something that a lot of pubs/restaurants are missing these days and cut corner. There were no cutting corners here! We will definitely be back. ( staff were fantastic and very hard working)

If you want a nice tasty experience, this is not the place to go. We made a reservation based on the reviews; booked on line to eat there. The first issue was being plonked in the bar area as they’d been a bit greedy on the bookings. Granted it was bank holiday but this was chaos. Nothing says “nice place to eat” like a smelly bar with golf on telly. Starter was ok. Nachos for two which could have served 4. Definitely quantity over quality. Mains came. The lasagne was ok, nothing special. The pork rib was inedible!!! Was far too salty. Clearly the lady who cleared tables noticed that it had not been touched and asked if all was ok. I mentioned it was too salty. In fairness, the staff we all really nice and pleasant. The owner knocked the price of a glass of wine off the bill (really should have been the price of the pork) then told us it’s not to everyone’s taste; soaked in soy sauce and slow cooked. I might not be Jamie Oliver but even I know that soy alone is not a marinade and it’s rather salty. Sadly not one I can recommend as the food was not good at all……
