Lovely place and nice grounds. Clean rooms. Large outdoor spa pool. Very relaxing. Wonderful breakfast. Reception area is a little odd, just a table in the hallway. But otherwise great stay.

The hydrotherapy pool was cold, apparently it stopped working an hour after we checked in however when we asked reception if we could use the spa, they said it closes at 7pm. Why didn’t they know the hydrotherapy pool was not hot and actually cold. Reception are first point of contact they should have all information first hand. They only have a sauna no steam room. The Reservation team never pick up the phone booked everything we paid for at random times without contacting us. We prepaid for afternoon. when we sat down this was not clear on the paper staff refer to, so the staff member had to keep going back to reception to confirm. Alan the supervisor advised their was a Jacuzzi this was not the case. Sat down for dinner at 8.15 the menu is minimal and very boring. I picked the ham it was so bland, dinner was burger and chips well done my burger was burnt and came after 9pm. My redone burger and chips turned up at 9.45pm. I didn’t even bother ordering desert because i was so full from being so hungry. We have a kettle in our room with cups with no tea or coffee or sugar or milk, whats the point of of us having a kettle. The manager seemed clueless about all the issues we raised personally too him offering us a free drink is not enough we came here for a relaxing break and it has been the total opposite. I wouldn’t return here due to the hydrotherapy pool being cold, food bland and not cooked properly the first time, and the lack of empathy from the manager and reception staff. The only person who i generally felt was trying to do their upmost best was Meet, he was attentive, kind, polite and very welcoming he was trying to ensure our dinner didn’t end on a bad note thats who should be manager as he was very empathetic. Thank you Meet and Daniella for your hospitality.

The demeanour of the spa staff was shockingly poor, among the worst I've encountered. During my supposed 30-minute facial, which was cut down to 15 minutes without explanation, both the therapist and the manager repeatedly retreated around the corner, audibly laughing and conversing in another language. This unprofessional behaviour occurred not once, but twice. Furthermore, my attempt to address this issue via email was blatantly ignored by the manager. The abysmal service left me feeling deeply unsettled and exposed. As for the breakfast, I could have easily enjoyed a better meal at a Wetherspoons.

The setting was lovely, the dinner and the breakfast were excellent, the hotel needs some tidying up as bedrooms tired and very old fashioned, the general decor is dated and needs some interior design to make it the hotel it has so much potential to be. There didn't seem to be enough staff as service was very slow, there was only one gentleman serving in the bar, and the restaurant staff seemed like they needed training and didn't check on us or ask about our food and actually seemed to have forgotten us at the end of the meal. That being said, the dinner and breakfast was excellent s well done to the kitchen staff for saving it. The most memorable and outstanding part was the service from Hulya, she was so attentive, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, we've travelled to many hotels but I believe Hulya was the best I've ever experienced.

We attended a close friend’s 80th birthday lunch at Taplow House on 9th March. The location is gorgeous but it really was the staff that made it for us. They were all so attentive but in particular a lady called Hulya - she went above and beyond. She chatted to everyone and made them feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. What an asset she is and she really made the lunch a very special one - thank you ❤️

Needed to do lunch for four in Hertfordshire with a little dog. Dreadful experience from St Michaels Manor or Sopwell House answer no after numerous unreturned calls. Point!!! Makes us so appreciative of having Taplow House on our doorstep such a wonderful hotel numerous visits always fantastic staff, food and care will return many more times! As you might guess they are very dog friendly (well behaved 😂) 👍

I booked a spa package the night before our anniversary as we only live locally. It included a 30 minute treatment, use of the spa facilities and lunch for £95 pp. We arrived at 9.30am and were asked by the spa assistant if we knew the hydra pool was not working, I said no it did not say anything on your website when I booked last night. She said you can continue with your treatment etc and we will give you a voucher to return another day for full use of the facilities, inc pool. We agreed to accept this, another lady waiting said yes I would like a voucher too. Basically the spa only consists of a sauna and the outside hydro pool plus treatment rooms. Both the sauna and hydro pool only comfortably accommodate 6 - 8 people, it would be awkward and uncomfortable if more, so although nice they are both small. We visited on the 15th March, it is now the 3rd April (3 wks since our visit). I was told that Hannah would contact me regarding the voucher, I have phoned up but she was not available, I made sure they have the correct phone number and email address for me but still not heard back from Hannah or a colleague. I will phone again but I hope that they read their reviews and will contact me and supply the voucher that was promised.

We went to Taplow House Hotel for my daughter’s birthday last Saturday evening. Not having been to this hotel for many years and having read the reviews, we were really quite uncertain as to how the evening would go. Upon arrival, we were directed to the restaurant where we were greeted at the entrance. We grouped at the desk to find that our names were not on the sheets that showed the guests for that evening. None the less, the lady in charge (we later discovered was called Hulya) dealt with this smoothly and efficiently, quickly finding a perfect table for us to sit at for our meal. She even suggested a slight re-arrangement of the place settings in order that we could get the best view of the grounds from each seat. We needn’t have worried about the quality of the food as each dish was delicious. Bread is served while you wait, starters were very nice indeed and all main dishes much enjoyed. We had three different deserts with each one being beautifully presented and delicious. The dining experience was greatly enhanced by the care taken by Hulya. She oversaw the meal with professionalism but also with warmth and friendliness. At one point, noticing we were struggling to take photos, she came and took several for us, which was much appreciated. All in all, an enjoyable evening which we will not hesitate to repeat.

I stayed over with a friend coming from Spain, from the 9th March to the 10th of March booking ref: BK034635/1. we book this hotel cause it was categorized as a "SPA HOTEL" close to London. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE LIE! do not book it, upon arrival the ONLY "POOL" was a little mini jacuzzi outdoors, and a sauna ( that was the spa facilities) the "pool" if you want to call it that way, didn't even worked! and nobody sent an email, informed us before that it wasn't working (most people staying there were going for the "spa") , they made us wait 1 hour for the check in even though we arrived 1 hour before. They did gave us a bottle of prosecco as complementary, and The F&B manager (Which I cant remember his name) said they will refund £30 p/p for the pool incident, it has been 2 weeks, and IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THROUGH THEM! no one picks up the phone, Don't waste your money and your time, my gym has MUCH BETTER FACCILITES than this "SPA HOTEL"! A REALLY AND TOTAL LIE!
