I travelled to this hotel with my sister for a week’s holiday on 3rd May 2025. Positive- Pool areas lovely, clean, loads of beds available Lovely clean and tidy areas to sit, relax and enjoy Room - really lovely two level maisonette with private pool. Food - good variety and the many different types of salads was especially welcome. Evening Entertainment - good singers and musicians, especially the electric guitarist- absolutely amazing! Staff - some staff were lovely, friendly and seemed like they genuinely cared about making our stay enjoyable. Negative- Room not cleaned properly- when we pulled suitcases out from their storage area they were covered in dust. One day we didn’t put the make up room sign on until later in the day - we didn’t mind not having the room cleaned that day but the housekeeper could’ve left some clean towels and a bottle of water at the very least. We booked a maisonette with a private pool, this was on two levels and really lovely, however the pool was icy cold and too cold to get in for the whole of our stay, so we felt this was rather a waste of money. Although the food was good, more often than not it was luke warm and sometimes cold. Some staff in the restaurant and other areas were unfriendly and didn’t even offer a smile! Tables were often not relaid quickly enough during busy times in the restaurant meaning you had to wander around looking for a clean table and then make it up yourself! The snacks that we stumbled upon were not good or the type of standard you expect in a 4* resort. All inclusive finished at 11pm, this is too early, on several occasions we would have liked to have continued our evening after this time but refuse to pay for drinks when we have paid for ‘All inclusive’. Unfortunately after reading the positive reviews about this hotel before we went we were expecting more. Between us, we have both worked in hospitality and customer service for many years and therefore appreciate that there’s no pleasing everyone, however a smile and a friendly welcome goes a long way.

What a fantastic hotel. Can't fault anything about it. On arrival our room had been upgraded to the Duplex with private pool when I had booked the room with private pool so that was a bonus from the start. As we arrived late night they had left us some food in the fridge which was a lovely welcome. The bed was by far the biggest and most comfortable I have ever had and the pillows were fluffy not the usual bricks :-). Bathroom was modern and clean as was the whole accommodation. Food for Breakfast, lunch and dinner was fantastic, always something you could find you enjoyed to eat. The omelette in the morning was delicious. Snacks selection during the day was amazing and by far the best I have ever had for selection at any All Inclusive I have stayed at. Mocktails and cocktails were fantastic, so much choice though sometimes a little strong. The swimming pools were lovely and the beds surrounding the pool area were very comfortable with plenty of sun shades should you need them. Unfortunately for us the weather was not great for half of the week so not needed. We did have plenty of walks in the surrounding areas which was lovely. Took the bus into Heraklion from just outside the hotel (bus number 1 going and number 6 to return). If you buy your ticket from the Bus Station shop down the road it only cost 7 euros for 2 people so very cheap. Heraklion is a beautiful City with plenty to see and do if the weather isn't good. Also so many nice restaurants, cafes and bars. We went for a lovely coffee on a side street to the main square and it was so peaceful. Now for the staff. What can I say, everyone was so friendly and helpful. You can see how hard everyone works. A special thanks to the lady who usually works on the far pool bar (sorry I didn't get her name). She is just lovely and really nice to chat to and find things out about the area. You are very lucky to have such a lovely member of staff. Would defiantly recommend this hotel to anyone and we are hoping to visit again in the future.

I had such a great time at the hotel, the staff was lovely and the room was amazing with comfortable beds. Also a big thank you to the bar staff, they was so kind and welcoming. The young lad behind the bar was also amazing and was brilliant to talk too. Would definitely come again and recommend this place to others if you are looking for a brilliant holiday.

Hotel Amounda review Just spent a wonderful 10 days here at this lovely hotel. The grounds are lovely and kept very clean and tidy. Our room was small and had little storage space, but was very comfortable, clean and modern, felt very new. Would recommend bringing travel coat hangers with you. Bathroom is very small (when sitting on the loo you’ll have one foot in the shower and the space between sink and loo is very tight. No mirror in the bedroom but there were USB charger ports next to the bed which was handy. The vibe of the place is relaxed and quiet which was perfect for us as we are 2 friends who wanted to get away for a rest. Food is lovely in the main restaurant. Lots of green food very tasty. Probably the best all inclusive food we’ve had anywhere we’ve been before. I like a hot milk oat pate and restaurant staff were so helpful and warmed it up for me in the kitchen. Special thank you to Valia for looking after me every day. Entertainment wasn’t great but we knew that before we came and hadn’t done for that so it was fine. Not loads of cocktails in the all inclusive menu but you could purchase others for around €8. Staff are very friendly and so helpful when you have a query. You can get pool towels from reception (€10 per towel deposit) and change as regularly as you want to. 3 lovely pools- never had a problem getting sun loungers e en at 10am.We preferred the quiet pool - sun-loungers are the older style there (new comfy beds round the other 2 pools) but they were fine and we preferred the quiet there. Water is very cold (but ok once you’re in) so if you have babies you might want to bring a small inflatable pool to use with warmer water depending on the time of year you were coming. WiFi is good in the main. Room cleaned e wry day if you want it with towel changes. We had massages with Eugeine which were amazing. Give your details to reception and they will get the spa to contact you directly or go to the cabana (by the splash oool) when they’re there and there’s a contact sheet outside you can put your details on to make a booking. There is a shop just outside the hotel. If you turn right out of the hotel and walk around 10 mins you’ll find other shops and tavernas. We took a trip to Spinalonga- the former lepper colony. We took the number 1 bus from outside the hotel to Heraklion at 7.15 (20 mins and €2.50) got the 110 bus from the bus station to Agios Nikolaos (just under 2 hours €15) and took a cab to Alounda €16) where we got a boat over. Only had just over an hour there but it was well worth the trip if you’re into your history. Ask at reception the day before for an early breakfast and packed lunch to take with you. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a laid back restful and quiet holiday and would definitely return.

The hotel needs to improve its service and maintenance. A family of 3 was put in a very small and dirty room. The room was prepared for 2 people. Thank you for putting in an extra bed so I didn't have to sleep on the floor. The mattress on the extra bed had springs and was simply covered with a sheet. These springs pressed on my back. After I asked for a refund and to evict us from the hotel because the room in the photo did not match the room we received, the manager said that this was not a reason to return the money and simply hung up. After I asked the reception twice and the maid once to prepare everything for three, my request was not heard. There is very little space between tables for guests in the restaurant. The staff does not always clear and set the table right away. Well, if you do not have time to take a seat, you will have to stand and wait. Drink machines often dispense plain water. There weren't enough glasses and cups for everyone. Didn't make it in time? Your problem. The staff doesn't seem friendly and in my presence the waitress answered an elderly woman very rudely when she asked when they would finally bring plates to help herself to food. room cleaning is a separate conversation. in our room there were always not enough towels, the shower was dirty, the ashtray was not always emptied and the balcony was cleaned only once in 11 nights of stay. The sand on the beach, which belongs to the hotel, is not cleaned. We often stepped on thorns. The only thing that made us happy in the hotel was the friendly and smiling girl with blonde hair at the bar.

We had the absolute best stay at Sentido Amounda Bay. In fact, we stayed at a five star resort on the other end of the island that only did partial all inclusive and had a way better time at Amounda bay. The staff is super friendly and kind. The rooms are spacious and clean, we even got a little balcony overlooking farmlands and the ocean. The ocean is a 5 minute walk if that where the hotel has a beach bar and tons of beach chairs. Folks had said in previous reviews the beach was dirty but I did not experience that at all, we had an exceptional time in the med swimming and hanging out in the beach chairs. If the beach isn’t your thing they have 2 maybe even 3 large pools. They have several bars and restaurants included in the all inclusive and all of the food was delicious and there were different options each day which was incredible (the 5 star had the same food every day). If you have a rental car you’re in a great location to get to Chania, Agia Pelagia, and several other cool spots around the island. Very central location. Hope to come back to this beautiful resort soon!

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights and it was a great stay, our room was huge and very clean. The staff were extremely attentive and polite - special mention to Nikos at the bar who was amazing, so friendly and welcoming and made the best cocktails. Zoran was also so helpful and went out of his way to make our stay extra special. One thing I would criticise would be the food at the hotel. There was no variation most days and the food was quite bland and boring. I have an allergy and they didn’t really cater to this, I could only really have chicken and chips so we went out for dinner/lunch most days. Another thing would be the all inclusive only goes up to 11pm after that you have to pay for drinks and there are no snacks on offer unfortunately. Overall we had a really good time and met some amazing people (Nikos and Zoran) and would definitely come back to Crete again.
