Having submitted my allergy list a few weeks before our booking and seeing that there were so many gluten free, vegan options, I was excited to be able to join with my friends in celebrating the baby that’s about to be born. Imagine my disappointment when the waitress only went through my allergies (I know it’s an extensive list) at the table in front of friends, not all of whom I’d have liked to know about said allergies. I was hoping for a simple meal and enjoyment of afternoon tea. This did not happen. I was given gf bread that contained egg powder - that I’m intolerant to. I agreed to it because I already felt awkward. I was also given a plate of fruit. And then offered another round of sandwiches. Quite frankly I was shocked and appalled. I was left feeling very isolated and excluded from my friends who were all enjoying their delightful cakes. It’s not difficult to create sandwiches and cakes and scones to my allergies. I do it often. I even offered to pay extra because I know I’ve got a lot. But honestly having to pay £30 in the middle of a cost of living crisis for sandwiches and fruit and being excluded from my friends was ridiculous. I was very disappointed. The waitress was lovely, and double checked everything. The atmosphere was great, it would have been a perfect afternoon if I’d been catered for. But I wasn’t. And I found it quite unbelievable to be honest. I didn’t say anything during our time at the tea room, because I didn’t want to ruin my friends day. But I will not be returning to The Midland because of this terrible service. Photos of everyone else’s afternoon tea, then mine.

Liked · The receptionists who was there when I arrived was the only highlight of this stay, she was hard working despite the numerous issues myself and other guests experienced when they arrived. Disliked · Here is a list of everything that is wrong with this place. When I arrived at The Mitre I was directed up the 1st floor where I found the reception area. I was given my room key and trundled upstairs and down long corridors until I finally found my room. Here are the issue from this first room that I occupied during my stay. 1, The TV was broken and it had been been hit by something as the screen was cracked, no the hotel fault maybe but they should be on top of things like this. 2, The floor was uneven and the toilet door had a 1 inch gap at the bottom on one side as the floor was unlevel, when walking the the room it felt like walking down a ramp. 3, As mentioned earlier the receptionist did her best but I had to ask a couple of times about the tv, in the end I got moved to another room which was on the same floor as the reception, however this was a smaller room from the one which I was given originally which I was told was an free upgrade (which I initially appreciated). Room 2 Issues below This room had a shower, were as the other room had a bath 1, When the toilet flushed it made a sound like a pneumatic drill was being used, god knows what other guests were thinking when they heard this. 2, Aircon unit was very noisy so did not get used, the windows could not be opened in this room so it got very warm though the night 3 When using the shower the dials for the temperature were problematic and I ended up burning my back as could not reach the shower cord to switch it off as the dials did not seem to stop the water flow. 4, In reception I noticed spiders and dead flies etc on the window frames whilst waiting to be helped by the poor receptionist. Please avoid this place if possible, I guess this is the northern version of faulty towers.

Clayton Hotel Manchester City Centre

Not impressed to be honest! Booked to stay in an executive room but there wasn’t anything executive about it, we had no fridge or water which I read on their website is included, there were also no leaflets or information of any kind in the room which was really strange, because we checked in late after being at a local concert I didn’t want to call about the fridge but it was disappointing. Aircon in the room made no difference, room was very warm and even though I turn the fan to its highest and the temp to its lowest it made no difference. Was disappointed with breakfast, cheap sachets of sauces and even cheaper beans that tasted awful, my daughter tried the smoothie and it was so sour it was inedible,I tried it so can confirm why she wasn’t drinking it! Also cold hard croissants with nowhere you could have arm them up. I’d rather stay in the premier inn at least you have working aircon and a decent breakfast!!
Clayton Hotel, Manchester Airport
4.2/5132 Reviews
The hotel is situated super near train station and Manchester airport. Shuttle bus service was good and drivers of the shuttle bus were helpful and humor. Hence, try not to walk to the hotel although it seems in a walking distance. Hotel room is spacious and well lit. Hotel's breakfast is good as well. Hence, it's definitely a good choice for short morning flight.
Holiday Inn Manchester Airport
4.6/581 Reviews
Booked this hotel as there was a train strike the day of my flight. Also it's right next to the airport and slightly cheaper than Radissons inside the airport. However, there were no signs from the train station for the hotel. I ended walking around roundabouts I'm not supposed to be on! Turned out I should have walked inside the airport to get out nearer the hotel. Bit of a queue at check in, but ok otherwise. Room was comfy, with a settee. The coffee cups seem to leak- both of them! Would appear to be the material the cups were made of. Big soft towels were a delight. Separate bottles on the wall for shower gel, shampoo, conditioner. Good shower, options of normal and rain shower in a big shower area. Check out was easy, I didn't pay for breakfast. I did a short run in the morning around the hotel car park! Needs must... Overall, I would recommend it, as long as you know how to walk to the hotel from the airport safely! I would recommend the hotel liaise with the airport about signage. If there were signs and I missed it, then they need to be prominent, including detailed directions on the website.
Hotel Brooklyn Manchester

What a fantastic wee hotel the Brooklyn is! We stayed here on the night of the 19th of June for one night before heading off abroad the next day. Great location and a very quirky little hotel far exceeding expectations and better than some of these corporate giants, loved it! Staff were all exceptional to us, friendly and professional always. Bar staff on that evening get a special mention as they were brilliant. Cocktails were out of this world, as stated by Cocktail Queen herself who I was travelling with. Loved the terrace style seating near the bar, never seen that before! Rooms were awesome, bathroom fantastic and I did have a good chuckle at the fact that you could see into the bathroom from the bedroom through a one-way glass panel, hilarious! Everything smelt so wonderfully clean in the building too and I could not fault this place at all! A wonderful stay and a big thanks to all the staff that were on that evening and the next day, you should all be exceptionally proud of yourselves!
The Waterside Hotel and Leisure Club
4.1/5100 Reviews
A brilliant experience at the hotel. Not only the hotel is amazing with great facilities (gym with 12 different rooms, spa relaxation/recovery suite, 25m pool) but also the people are super friendly. If you are a runner like me, there are like 5 different parks in the area to run around or simply go for walks. Tram station is 10 minute walk and tram services in Manchester are very good so you can get anywhere you want. At the hotel everyone was super friendly and they were all very helpful, but Taylor and Owen have stood out to me. Amazing service, well done! Oh and they serve an amazing coffee! I don't think I'll ever be looking for a different hotel when coming to Manchester. Here is all you need!
Milton Manchester Hotel
3.6/5115 Reviews
I stayed at the Milton last night the 22nd and it was excellent. I had read the reviews and was a bot concerned by them so approached the entrance with caution. Its clear the building used to be an office block and home to the DHSS. I was directed to the hotel reception where the pleasant surprises began clean airy and a very efficient and welcoming receptionist. Then onto the room which medium sized was warm the bed comfortable and the shower powerful . I ate in the bar and had a well cooked meal and a beer . Next morning breakfast was simply incredible value the selection was large the coffee good and the produce used a step up. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful . Its cheap but its great

Manchester is a metropolitan borough in England. It is ranked the fifth from top in terms of the population size in the whole country. As of 2019, the metropolitan area population here was over 3.3 million, and the overall area was close to 630 kilometres squared. Manchester is a part of the Greater Manchester metropolitan county in north-western England. At present, this is one of the most visited cities in the United Kingdom. Manchester is known for its vibrant culture, architecture, sports scene, and technological output among others. The city is known among sports fans for being the home ground of two prominent football clubs of the Premier League, Manchester United, and Manchester City. The city of Manchester lies on the banks of the River Irwell and features a climate that is somewhat temperate oceanic. This type of climate is pretty common in the many British Isles and is characterized by cool summers coupled with warm winters, nothing too extreme. The precipitation rates are not very high but the occurrence is regular in the region. Relative to other portions of England, Manchester is slightly more humid in comparison. The topography of the region is that of a plain which is washed with river gravels.

Airport / nearby airport:

The metropolitan borough of Manchester is served by the Manchester Airport (MAN) which is some 14 kilometres away from the city centre. Getting to Manchester from Manchester Airport takes around 18- 20 minutes by road. This airport is among the busiest airports of England which comprise three terminals for passenger use and one terminal for cargo and goods aviation. The Manchester Airport sprawls over an area of some 1400 hectares and has flight connectivity to over 200 destinations across the world. There are many options of transport to get from Manchester Airport to the city centre. One of them is the Airport Shuttle bus Service which covers the journey in some 25 minutes and charges around 9 £ for a one-way trip. Official airport taxis are available all day long and they are a comfortable way to get to the city. These taxis charge some 20 £ for the journey.

The commute in Manchester is not at all tough, as there is a very elaborate transportation network in place. Walking around the city is a popular choice here. Apart from that, you can avail a number of options like the free hop- on- hop- off buses which run in the city centre, or the commercial buses which connect the whole of Greater Manchester efficiently. The light railway Metrolink tram system of the UK is also a convenient choice of commute. It is particularly helpful for tourists as it travels through almost all popular places and attractions of the city. The System One Travel Card can be purchased if one wants to travel hassle-free through a combination of trams, trains, and buses. It is a travel smartcard that is accepted as a payment mode by most public transport providers. One can also cycle through Manchester easily; the city has dedicated cycle routes all around.

How to get to Manchester:

The Manchester Airport (MAN) is one of the busiest in the whole of England. This is an international airport which is well connected with the rest of the world. Major airline operators like Turkish Airlines, Air France, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Swiss Air, and American Airlines among others offer services up to Manchester. If the flight is from a long distance, there is a very good chance that aside from having a longer duration there are also going to be one or two transit stops in between the journey. The domestic flight network inside the United Kingdom is something that one can rely on while planning a trip to Manchester. What this means is that if someone is travelling internationally to Manchester they can get a flight to any international airport in the UK.
