Holiday Inn Manhattan at the Campus

I paid about 110. For a double bed room. I am actually currently here now for the night. The hotel is nice, rooms are clean and spacious public areas clean and the pool is nice as well. Wifi works great, and the location is amazing. Parking was easy and close to entrances, the out door seating areas are comfortable and clean. Everything is in walking distance, restaurants, liquor store, I've cream shops, bars and k-state main campus is across the street and in walking distance, the athletic departments are a short 8 min drive away. In the hotel parking lot they have a green bike lend program, it's purely based on integrity and honesty of the people who choose to use it. you just take the bikes off the rack and ride, no sign out sheet,, no locks, no deposits, they just kindly ask for you to return it within 4 hours so others can use this amazing free service. Continental breakfast is included in your room rate. We are a party of 4 so that's a easy 40 dollar savings if you had to go out and buy Breakfast. I have 1 complaint and that's why I'm giving them a 4 instead of a 5, the check in process was so unprofessional. The front desk young lady who checked me in did the bare minimum, asked for my i.d, a credit card for incidentals, then gave me 1 room key and said room 310...then went about talking to the lady that was behind the divide that is behind the front desk, I had to regain her attention and ask her. Wheres the elevators? Where's the pool?( It's 89 degrees today) . Do you provide breakfast? What time is breakfast?: (She didn't even know had to ask the lady behind the divider,...for the price i paid I cannot complain. it seems all other departments arevdoing a amazing job keeping this place together but the front desk staff needs to be , either retrained or replaced, ....cause your business first impression and last impression staff shouldn't leave a sour taste in your guests mouth!

The beds are pretty good, but everything else is subpar, which is disappointing considering the price. The lobby looks modern and nice, but once you start down the hallway to the rooms, you realize that the nice lobby was just an illusion. The rest of the hotel consists of low ceilings and inadequate lighting. While I don’t have claustrophobia myself, I’m sure that the hallways in this hotel are the perfect blend to make them feel uneasy. The front desk staff were nice, but the staff at the bar seemed almost unhappy when we arrived. While I myself am not old enough to drink, I had seen a pool table in the bar while we were looking around the hotel earlier. So when my parents headed down for a few drinks, I tagged along with the intent of playing a few rounds of pool with my dad. Unfortunately for us though, the bartender informed me that I wasn’t allowed to play pool because I was 17 1/2 years old and you have to be 18 to use the pool table. What kind of rule is that?! Anyway, after being banished back to our room by the bartender, I sat down to write this review to warn anyone with claustrophobia and a love of pool to steer clear of this hotel.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Manhattan

We had booked 2 rooms with my grandkids. When we checked in the rooms were on different floors, which made it difficult with our grandkids. Our room was very noisy with the highway adjoining the hotel and our room being by the elevator and ice machine. The alarm clock in the room was broken and there wasn't any conditioner in the shower (bottle was empty). There was a little bottle of lotion, that was 3/4 empty by the sink. I reported this to the front desk and they didn't seem concerned. The worst part was breakfast. We were in Manhattan for a gymnastic meet and had to leave for the gym by 8:00. We were down to breakfast at 7:00, when it was supposed to be open. We asked several times when it was open and was told ”soon”. Finally, at 7:22, it opened. However, the pancake machine and juice dispenser weren't working. After asking the girl who opened the breakfast about it, she called someone and finally got both working. Within 5 minutes everything but a very bagels and toast were gone and people were again waiting to get anything ”hot”. We finally gave up as we had to leave. No one acted even remotely concerned with all the inconveniences we were experiencing. We've stayed at other hotels in Manhattan and will go back to them in the future.
