We didn’t stay but were wandering around Bourdailles with our little one in need of a place to rest and all the other cafes were closed! Thank goodness we found this place, the staff were friendly and so helpful. The terrace was lovely with views of the river and plenty of shade. We asked about food and even though we were too early to be served, the lovely waiter managed to rustle up a snack for our little one out of no-where. Saved the day!

Don’t hesitate to book Hostellerie Les Griffons. It is every bit as good as the multiple previous reviewers report. The room we had was big, beautiful, quiet, comfortable, well serviced and with a view of the bridge over the adjacent river Dronne. The hotel location is very romantic in apperance. It is a great location for driving to the many nearby attractions. The interior is finished pleasantly. There are nice public areas and the WiFi works perfectly. Local residents reported that it was one of the best restaurants in the wider area, and was good value. What makes this place a “must book” is the restaurant and the exceptional care provided by the owners and staff. Very rarely does a place elevate itself to “magical” by some mysterious way. Could be the stunning location, or the ducks swimming past during dinner, or the top-quality chef, or the genuine caring staff, or the feeling you don’t want to leave. Hostellerie Les Griffons has found the right recipe to make this a wonder place to stay.

Absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommended, very friendly staff, mind blowing food and very cozy atmosphere! This is a perfect sneak peak into the elegant French culture! The surroundings are also stunning, whether in winter or summer. I would come back whenever possible!! Fantastic

Stunning hotel right on the river Dronne. Superb view from the hotel bedroom windows, charming olde world fireplace & typical French furnishings with a modern twist. Bed was super comfy & toiletries provided were of very good quality. Breakfast delicious, lots of homemade delights. Katherine (owner) & Pierre are both so friendly & warm, treated us like family from the get go. We loved every minute of our stay & highly recommend a stay here.

A very pleasant French provincial hotel. Great position next to the river and the old bridge. Large and clean room. The wi-fi only seemed to work in the public area and certainly not in our bedroom, which was a pain. The restaurant, which is the only one open in the town in the evening, is good but somewhat expensive. There is limited choice, which is usually a very good sign, but in our case we didn’t fancy any of the three main courses, so we settled for a starter and pudding. Would we stay again - yes.

Stayed here for three nights in Sept 22 and so glad we did. Could have easily stayed on for a week. Nestled right on the river where you can look out of you bedroom window and catch a kingfisher, a water vole and plenty of trout. Surreal feeling staying here as if time had stood still. Great Castle / Chateaux to visit and if in season don’t miss the flea market on a Sunday and the BBQ with live music on Monday nights when everyone else closes apart from the cafe bar in the square - great. Also a mention to our great host for looking after us and of course the great restaurant on site with amazing views of the river. Big up to Sylvie also - our maitre d’ - thanks for a great time xx Celt & Zena

The hotel & its location of the river are stunning. Our room was lovely with the amazing view out of the window. The public areas are so nice as well including the pool. We had dinner there which was delicious & breakfast the next morning also so tasty. In fact there are not enough adjectives to describe this beautiful place. Really did not want to leave. The staff were so nice & friendly too.
