Station View Lodge - Near Balbirnie House Markinch ★★★
No. 1 High Street - Boutique Rooms ★★
"Booked a one night stay to visit the area. Stayed in a King sized room. The bed was 2 singles pushed together. The duvet was far too thick for warm weather so slept on top of it. Couldn’t get the tv to work at all. Bedside lampshade was stained. Blinds at the window would have been nice for privacy. Good sized bathroom but shower screen poor so water leaked all over the floor. Shower not very powerful. Hole in door. Door didn’t close properly and the lock fell off in my hand. Cracked walls. Fancy tap but totally impractical. Not much room to get hands under and unable to fill kettle with it. Shower gel was almost empty and had been watered down. The room was right above the pub and extremely noisy with loud music until 1am. Take ear plugs! The free water and biscuits were a nice touch. Left the Irn Bru as it wasn’t sugar free. Overall, not a great stay and I wouldn’t return. The saving grace was it was cheap."
Laurel bank Hotel
"A few Instagram makeover touches do not make this a good place to eat and drink. It has a nice beer garden. The food is mediocre and way over priced. The staff are really issue. Service at the bar or at tables shocking. 3 female members of staff behind bar chatting and ignoring the customers. One male barman serving. Really long wait to be served food and drinks."
