We booked a family trip to Grand Cettia Hotel for the midterm break. I had visited Turkey few times before that and did not have too high expectations, but what we found was really surprising. • We were two adults and a kid in a double room, with a sofa convertible to a bed. However, it was a two seater. A matrass was placed over it, but the end was hanging to the floor. The same used to happens with the legs of the person sleeping there. • The toilet bowl was dirty with something looking like a vomit. It was on the lower side and not apparent, but the legs of the used were touching it. We informed the housekeeping, and they tried to clean it. Did not succeed completely. We tipped the lady for the efforts, but apparently, the hygiene standards are not really great. Luckily, there were plenty of shops around, so we bought Domestos. • The sink looked like clogged now and then. We were ready to buy Mr.Muscle or something similar, but before that I removed the stopper and looked in the drain. There was a bottle lid inside. Because of the water flow the lid was changing its position and when horizontal, the water was blocked completely. It was absolutely impossible this lid to go there by chance, due to the stopper and its mechanism. To remove the lid, I had firstly to unscrew the cap and pull out almost the entirely horizontal rod adjusting the stopper. Probably it was a “gift” by a “happy customer”. • There are two pools. One is a baby type, 25-40cm deep. The other is 1.3m - 1.7m deep. Means non swimmer kids shorter than 1.5m are not able to use it safely. And, of course, they were smaller than somebody can expect. • On Thursday the snack closed at 16.50, not at 17.00 as supposed to. We were back from an excursion and relied on it to have a bite. It would not be a problem, if the working time was till 16.30 for example, as we would buy something from the town. But as we paid entirely the asked price, not 5 pounds or even 50 pence less, we were expecting the service to be provided as promised, right? • The personnel, guests are in most contact are the waiters, or more precisely the bus boys/girls. Majority of them did not speak good English, which was not a problem, as there is no need of any complicated communication. Some of them spoke basic English and were quite friendly. But some were quite intrusive. When able to they started bragging about their sexual adventures with the tourists. There is one especially annoying boy, named Yakup. He was apparently playing it cunning and was taking extra care of some tourists, probably hoping for tips. Meanwhile totally ignoring other. Moreover, he was bluntly refusing help when asked reasonable requests like cleaning a table or providing silverware. I saw it with several times with different people and was amazed of their patience not complaining straight away to the management. • The kids club is actually a dirty playground which was locked most of the time. Actually, I never saw it open. There we
