Best Hotels in Marrakech, Morocco

We checked in to our deluxe room, and it was a horrible stay. First off, the deluxe room building is the furthest building away from the hotel, and by the time we get to our room, the view from our balcony is of a construction site and parking lot. Our room had a particularly strong vinegar smell to it, and we asked to move rooms. We were told that every deluxe room was sold out and we would be able to move rooms the next day. Next day comes around and we didn’t hear from the hotel. Every call to guest services took at least 3-5 minutes until someone answered or called back. We also came back to our hotel room unlocked, and it seemed housekeeping didn’t truly close our door when they cleaned it. On our last night, the A/C didn’t seem to work. We called guest services and the lady I spoke to told me that it was turned off for the whole hotel. When asked why or when will it be turned back on, she abruptly interrupts me and says I’m transferring you to the front desk. I waited for at least 2 minutes on the phone before someone from the front desk to answer my call, and he informs me that someone will come check our A/C. We love staying at different hotels in different countries and had no issues with other hotels in Marrakech, however, our stay at Movenpick was very underwhelming and staff didn’t seem to care at all. This has been a very awful experience, and hope that the hotel management can make a much better experience and improvement for others.

Our stay at Riad Miral was absolutely perfect. Monica was a delight and Reda was very helpful and sweet! Their rooms are beautiful as well the communal areas, are all clean , cosy and welcoming. The scents that welcomes you as soon as you enter is wonderful as well as their mint tea and biscuits! The Riad is the heart od the Medina and very close to what beautiful Marrakech has to offer. Everything was perfect, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if anything we wish we had a couple of more day just to relax on top of the roof, the terrace was exquisite and we had lovely breakfast up there. Thanks Monica for making us feel like home and for being so helpful. I will definitely come back and I would recommend your beautiful Riad to anyone!

Hotel in a great location, 10 minutes walk from Djemalefna Square. The hotel is old and fairly poorly maintained, but the air conditioning has just been changed in all the rooms. The rooms are clean but could use some freshening up!!! Very nice swimming pool with a beautiful park-garden very well maintained, but old furniture around. The staff (very nice) was a bit understaffed and slow, but it's Ramadan. For breakfast it's passable but the pastries are always from the day before ... and the service is minimal. For the evening meal: go your way and for the price of the wines it's surreal!!! The staff barely speaks French (French is no longer taught in Morocco), the oldest still speak it a little!... We have been going to this hotel for more than 20 years only because it is super well placed and that we are not too difficult (having used to travel to the 4 corners of the world). But it is not even worth a 2 star from us. The management doesn't even do the minimum service, but again the location is TOP!

Lovely would recommend. Cheap and cheerful. Don’t know why people are so negative about this place, I would stay here again. Clean, beds made everyday, clean towels, friendly staff. Located twenty minute walk from the square, and the souks. Off licence around the corner, which sells plenty of beer, wine and spirits. £11.00, for a bottle of wine and six beers. Highly recommended!!!

Dirty cutlery, noisy location and poor service…. First problem, I was staying on the four floor, which was an issue as one lift was out of action and the other two lifts are unbelievably slow. The room was dark and even with the lights on difficult to see anything without the use of a torch. Thankfully my room was facing the pool as many colleagues who also had been staying complained of noise through the night from the road, obviously in rooms that had been facing the road. I still had an 8am wake up from the building site next door though. I only had breakfast at the hotel - but found the cutlery dirty and some cutlery had some sticky residue on them. Food was ok but far from the standard I had found in some of the local restaurants. At checkout I had a problem with the laundry bill, I was offered only a 5% discount on the laundry. I ended up paying in full after being threatened by the police for taking a photo of the invoice. Once in my taxi, back to the airport the taxi driver said there is always a problem with the hotel at checkout….clearly not an isolated case. The hotel did have some old charm but very much tainted by poor service, dirty cutlery and a noisy location. Avoid.

The hotel is amazing the staff the food the services… everything is wonderful. Essadi hotel located in te city center where everything is closed: restaurants, drug stores, coffee shops and supermarkets. I recommend it strongly and hope you will enjoy it as we did 😌

We had the pleasure of staying at Riad Jibril during our visit to Marrakech, and what a delightful experience it was! Our host, Iheb, truly deserves the title of a legend. From the moment we checked in until we checked out, he made our stay memorable. Whilr it may not be a 5-star hotel, it provided a unique and authentic Moroccan experience that exceeded our expectations. The riad itself, with its traditional architecture, was clean and inviting. The highlight was undoubtedly the serene terrace, a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the medina. One evening, we indulged in sheesha on the terrace, a delightful experience that only cost us around 70 MAD. We also had the pleasure of dining on the terrace, where we enjoyed delicious tagines at a very reasonable price of 60 MAD each. The chef's culinary skills were truly impressive. The breakfast served each morning was traditional and homely too! What made our stay truly special was the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by Iheb and the staff. We arrived as guests but left feeling like friends. We were even befriended by the two adorable resident kittens, Sofia, the long-haired tabby, and Leena, the ginger kitten. Their presence added an extra touch of charm to our stay. The location of Riad Jibril was perfect, and the camel in front of the money exchange served as an excellent landmark. The riad was on the opposite alleyway, second door, making it easy to find. We especially enjoyed its proximity to Kasbah, near Zeitun Cafe, a favorite spot of ours to visit at night. The lantern-lit terrace at the cafe provided majestic views that made our evenings even more memorable.

I have been a regular customer at the Sofitel Marrakech for over 12 years the experience has always been top class - It’s my favourite hotel in Marrakech.

With the hindsight of some of the reviews i have read on this hotel, my conclusion after just staying here for a few days is they are absolutely not giving the hotel the justice it derserves. Yes the hotel is old, might be some tiles missing here and there' or some wall plug not sitting 100 % in the wall. But generally its not a problem that can't be solved if you ask the staff they are both friendly and helpfull. With a large family in marrakech and the experience of travelling here every other year for the last 30 years this is nothing out of the ordinary on hotels of marrakech unless you are staying at something absolutely high end hotel which will probably cost you small fortune Garden is magnificent with a spacious pool area, friendly and helpfull staff that solves any problems you might have, good food with fair prices. Rooms are spacious well ventilated (Ive read a lot of people complaining about the A/C, to that i can just say morocco is one of the warmest places on earth specially during the summer time and thats not anything even the best A/C can solve) The only negative thing is the area around the hotel once was a ”highend” district with lots of luxury hotels sadly the last couple of years the area has been in decay leaving it quite ”dead” which means you have to find a taxi to get to anywhere interesting which is not a big cost (20Dh-40dh), but can be tricky if you are travelling more then 3 persons due to lack of big taxis and the fact that small taxi´s only take 3 people. Nice room, convenient transportation, but not too noisy, and the photos are good-looking, Marrakesh is a cost-effective hotel. I have stayed here for several nights.
