Hôtel Carré Vieux Port

Rooms are nothing like the photos. They’re quite sad airport hotel vibes. Ugly doors, tiny bathrooms where you have to hold the shower head to clean yourself. The beds are comfortable. Breakfast was horrendous. Gloopy, bland scrambled eggs, raw hash browns, stale pastries. I booked a superior double room, there was nothing superior about it. Waste of money. You also can’t leave the hotel without handing your key into the desk and requesting it back upon reentry. Very sad experience overall. The people behind the front desk were very kind but overall, unhelpful.

An incredible location, just step outside the hotel door and you were right in the middle of restaurants, bars and the port which was the heartbeat of this area. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Location is unbeatable but the hotel itself is really not up to even 3 stars standard. The room is small which is expected. However, it is different from what the images have projected. Not even a place to put our 2 luggages in. Layout is not workable, totally no room to move around especially in the bathroom. Air condition is very loud. Sofa bed instead of proper bed, not comfortable. Marseille is one of the most unsafe area in France, there is no safe in the room which you could put your valuables in. Had the hassles of carrying valuables around. We have stayed in a lot of small hotels in Japan, Hong Kong and Korea, never had such bad experiences. The actual product is just difference from the images on the website. Maybe is ok for 1 person but definitely not more than 1 for a room like this. Strongly recommended not to stay there if you are looking for a comfortable stay.

The room was basic but suitable. Not enough milk for 2 coffees so we shared one. Water pressure good (hand held shower over a big long bath). Not sure if the walls are thin or if other guests were very noisy but resting was not so easy. Ear plugs were provided by reception. We could not hear street noise. We were in 5th floor. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Very good location to metro and multiple food choices

An excellent hotel. The staff is kind and friendly. Excellent location and a great value for money. Highly recommended.
