Matopo Ingwe Lodge

"Friendly efficient reception. Clean comfortable accommodation and beautiful views from the restaurant patio, where we had drinks. Dinner was delicious and expertly served by Yolanda. We were served a packed breakfast for our early journey onwards. A great stay for visiting the magnificent Matopos!"

Matobo Hills Lodge

Matobo Hills Lodge

📍 Matobo National Park Campsite, Matobo National Park, Matobo
★★★ 9.4 (35 reviews)

"Good day, I had an amazing time, compliments to the chef and the amazing bar tender I forgot to get his name. However I have to put it across that your receptionist Mclian or something is very unprofessional, thats my honest review. I was made to feel uncomfortable as a guest, proposing love to a guest who is there for a retreat and being persistent in his approach is just unprofessional, he needs to do better. I felt violated as a woman in so many ways i can’t type.Overrral I had a great time, hoping to come back in August."

Amalinda Lodge

Amalinda Lodge

📍 matopos, Matopos, Matobo
★★★★ 9.9 (25 reviews)

"We loved our stay here. The rock face of the majestic Matopos seamlessly flow into the room and cloister a lovely shower. The magnificent atmosphere of the place itself is complemented by the calm but warm welcome of the staff. Everything was as it should be, and the magic of the lodge surpassed expectation - photos barely do it justice! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We wished we could have stayed longer!"

Big Cave Camp

Big Cave Camp

📍 46km peg along, the Kezi Road, Matopos
★★★ 9.3 (4 reviews)

"Fantastic quiet retreat! We stayed her for a family reunion. Loved the beautiful rooms and the views of the bush, hills and the most spectacular sunsets. Food was great, staff took great care with allergies in our group. Exceptional service all around, but a special shout-out to our guide, Sandile. His expertise on traditional plant medicine and ceremonies made our game drive so much more than just a tour. It was deeply enriching. Nature lovers will adore the lizards, monkeys that you share the camp with, and the surroundings—just remember to bring bug spray! Loved the bird chorus throughout the day but especially early in the morning. A perfect, peaceful getaway."

Matopo Ingwe Lodge ★★★
"Although taking bookings the lodge had a closed feel about it, and an air of dilapidation. Pool was shut then when told it was working it was filthy and had not been filtered. Set menu for dinner for 20dollars USD, half of which was unavailable and when arrived was very poor, as was breakfast. "

"What a brilliant find - the park is not huge and this lodge is nicely in the middle. You really do feel like you are in the bush properly. The biggest asset this place has is it’s friendly staff. We took a guided Rhino safari on foot, just do it, you will not be disappointed."

Big Cave Camp ★★★
"Big Cave is uniquely nested into a hillside with an expansive view of the landscape below. Be forewarned the lodge’s remoteness brings challenges. Wifi is only available in the reception/dining area and lags when multiple guests are logged in. There’s no power late at night so charge your electronic devices early. It’s worth packing a flashlight for the occasional power outage. Walkways between cottages are not paved, a bit of a challenge for the mobility impaired like myself. After running the shower for over ten minutes one evening - not good conservation protocol - I still could not get any hot water. I ended up taking a sponge bath with water heated from the electric kettle. More exasperating was a glaring lapse by the housekeeping staff. Despite repeated reassurances of overnight laundry service, I even confirmed this with the manager, I received my clothing the next morning, neatly folded but UNWASHED. Overall, my stay was memorable for all the wrong reasons."
