Hotels Near Shimaneken Bussan Kankokan in Matsue

This wonderful ryokan, founded in 1888, is on Lake Shinji. That old? I was amazed to hear its age, but obviously this ryokan has undergone renovations to keep up with the times. To me, it felt quite modern. The room was spacious, with the ability to section off a living room, and dining area from the sleeping area. There was an in-suite hot tub (onsen) with windows overlooking the lake. Like many ryokans, the toilet was hidden away in another part of the suite, but it was quite adequate. I enjoyed the early morning when I could sip tea or coffee I made from the in-room appliances. Then, I could watch many small fishing boats going out to sea. The staff were quite accommodating. Japanese or ”American” breakfast was included. I was with a group of 10 people. We had a kaiseki dinner in a private room. The food was terrific. The staff was amazing, truly fabulous staff who accommodated all our requests with such grace. This must be the best ryokan in Matsue!

We stayed at the New Urban Hotel for 2 weeks in October while my husband was in Matsue for business. It is a lovely hotel in an excellent location in the city. I can’t say enough positive comments about the staff, and especially would like to mention Keiko Ueda. She goes above and beyond in making guests feel welcome and she is so helpful. Her English is very good and she repeatedly asked for feedback, did we need anything, was there anything in particular we wanted or wanted to do. All of the other staff are just as helpful, albeit many don’t speak English…however with the help of Google Translate, we had no difficulty. In staying there for 2 weeks, we were a familiar face and we’re always greeted warmly whenever we were in the lobby area. The location is excellent, about a 10 minute walk to Matsue Castle, about 15 minute walk to the Kyomise shopping district, and about 25 minute walk to the JR Matsue Transit Station, which has a wonderful Visitors Center with English speaking staff.. The hotel is directly across from Lake Shinji, and our room faced the lake providing lovely views. There is a walking path along the lake that is very nice and it is a short walk to Sunset Park to view the famous sunsets. Since my husband was working during the days, I was on my own to explore. I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe walking around this beautiful city. The city’s population is about 200K, and Matsue is known for still being “authentic Japan.” There is an on-site onsen at the hotel, which is very nice. There are separate baths for males and females and the hours are quite convenient. The lobby of the hotel has a section of travel amenities that are free to quests. Additionally, the hotel stocks a number of other items for borrowing that you might need, such as iron and ironing board. There is a laundry facility and a convenience store attached to the hotel. My only negative comment would be that the on-site buffet at the restaurant is the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But there are many wonderful restaurants in Matsue if you need more variety. If your travels find you going to Matsue, consider staying at the New Urban Hotel, you won’t be disappointed with the everything the hotel offers as well as the location.

This is the second time I stayed in this hotel during this trip. The experience was very good. You have to take off your shoes when entering the hotel. There is a cabinet for taking off and storing shoes at the door. After getting used to it, I think it is very good. The hotel breakfast is great and very rich.

Free parking! I can't. It is located in a long-established bar in Matsue City. I only recognized that the existing hotel has changed to the route-in group ～. I tried using it for the first time. It was a route-in firmly! , It has been properly renewed and is new and comfortable. There are breakfast and local menus, and I think that the number of items is abundant and fulfilling among the route-in groups! , Above all, free parking. I will follow this ... Most of the suburbs of Matsue Station are charged. Thank you! For dinner, please use nearby restaurants to support Matsue's food and beverage industry. Free transfer to Matsue station is also available, so it is also recommended for business use.

I stayed at this Dormy hotel in April 2019, and chose it again for a two-night stay because it'd worked out well, and again, I wasn't disappointed. I think I may have even been in the same room! The quarters were plain and compact, and with no view to speak of, but well-designed and equipped, especially for working on the laptop - great desk space, easily accessible power sockets and good wi-fi. I loved having the amplifier, something most hotels don't include. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a mini tv (and welcoming duck), with a larger one in the bedroom. The complimentary inclusions were appreciated - for example, ramen in the evenings, bath salts (bonus), and peach jelly in the fridge. The reasonably-priced breakfast was good, and featured perfect tempura! The hotel is near the JR station and a 10 minute walk to Lake Shinji, 15-20 to the castle. Staff were efficient with tasks such as forwarding luggage. Overall, excellent value!

Good location for who need to be close the Matsue station and also easily to go in the Matsue castle.

We loved this hotel. Room size is above average for Japan and it is clean and modern with nice bathroom. Unlike other Japanese business hotels, the bathroom here had a separate shower/bath room from the sink and toilet so it was spacious. The breakfast buffet was really great with ample choices of western and Japanese foods. Location is nearby train station (and many other hotels). The only downside was that the hotel had switched to winter heating system so the only way to cool the room was to open the window. Definitely would stay there again if in Matsue.

Stayed in the Cloud room with a private onsen in the balcony facing an awesome view of the lake. Room was clean and spacious with a generous supply of amenities. Visited the public bath as well but was nothing impressive. Beer and yakult was provided free of charge in the hotel lobby. Note that if you are traveling with young children, they change an extra ¥2500 per child just for them to be in the room, no extra beds provided and breakfast is a separate charge. Breakfast served was exquisite and in a private dining room which we appreciate. Overall nice experience but just one night is enough as the town is very quiet and the room price is very steep.

The hotel is 5 minutes away from Songjiang Station, close to the supermarket AEON, the hotel facilities and rooms are very old, the room is filled with a subtle smell, the sound insulation is also very poor, the bathroom is super small in the bathtub, it is difficult to take a bath and turn around, it is not recommended to live long, the service staff is very kind, the foreign language is also generally accessible.
