Very disappointing stay. I went to the Domaine on number of occasions and though it is rare for me to return to places, Verchant was one I loved and enjoyed every time until this stay. This amazing exclusive place in the past turned into a mass customer experience where client isn’t important any longer, what counts is how many guests you get in (and all the current construction work shows it will get even worse) Certainly the beauty of the domain and how it’s positioned now will attract new clients who enjoy lounge ambiance (without a service ) or people who stay there for one night while they transfer to another places ( many) but this is no longer standard of Relais Chateaux. Place is noisy, impersonal, good for seminars or big parties but not for a stay one gets resourced. The worse, the restaurant La Plage. Overall, service is totally incompetent and unprofessional . Guests are waiting for 40 mins before someone even comes. Guests were without forks and knifes and when staff were called after about 5 mins waiting with warm food, they were given fork from a neighboring table that was used before by people who decided to change their table ! Other guests were seated at the same table (used) with napkins not changed ( clearly visible they were used before!) and obviously no forks and knifes… Bottle of wine proposed to a wrong table where the gentlemen was embarrassed not to get one, spoons for dessert dressed for main course, etc etc. I have not seen such treatment in most simple restaurant…What to say more? Not much, just that I am sad to have lost a place that used to be truly special. All the best.
