Hygiene: Cleanliness is a recurring positive, with emphasis on spotless rooms, bathrooms, and daily maid service. The beach and common areas are regularly maintained, though some reviews note minor issues like seaweed accumulation.

We want to start with saying a huge thank you to the staff and management at the Jalsa Beach hotel we had another amazing holiday with you. Your staff go above and beyond, they remember your favourite drinks, your room number and also any special dietary requirements, and are always greet you with a hello and warm smile. Special thanks to Dannesh, Vanesha, manesha, Roshan and the rest of the housekeeping team. At the risk of rambling on I would like to address some of the not so great reviews I have read! This was our 4th stay at the Jalsa Beach and we would not wish to stay anywhere else in Mauritius. It is a smaller hotel which we prefer because you are known by your name not just another guest, the staff are exceptional and no request is too big. The management are constantly doing things to upgrade the rooms and outside areas, there were mostly all new sun loungers since our last visit and the area is beautifully kept, well done to the guest who posted a photo of the adjacent property that looked very unkempt and has tried to pass it off as the hotel, this photo could only be taken whilst standing on something to access a window about 7 feet high. These are the lengths some people will go to to try and get free room upgrades or other compensation, we witnessed appalling behaviour by some guests bad mouthing the hotel to try and achieve this. Shame on you. Lastly to address the issue of stray dogs, we have never had an issue with them, yes they are around mostly they are too timid to come too close and sometimes there is noise from them barking at the adjacent property but never to the degree that it has bothered us. The Mauritian authorities are trying to address the issue by neutering strays but this is a slow process. Car hire is a good idea to make the most of the island as the hotel is a little remote if you want other restaurants or a supermarket, they drive on the same side as the UK and it is reasonably priced, we use Ebrihim tours, they will drop of and pick up a car from the hotel. Alternatively haggle with the taxi drivers there's always a deal to done. Thank you again to you all, especially for our special dinner on the beach, we know how much time and effort this took. We look forward to seeing our Jalsa Beach family again next year.

This was our first time to Jalsa Beach but our second time to Mauritius and we had a fantastic time. I had read the reviews, both good and bad, before we booked and were unsure what to expect but our stay exceeded our expectations. It's a small hotel but this provided the intimacy to the place. It wasn't too long before you get know everyone and formed friendships and companionships. The hotel is remotely positioned, but we knew this before we booked, however there is a bus stop outside the main gates which will take you to the markets in Flaq and Goodlands. Check with the staff for market days. The buses have their own timetable. If you are adventurous book a trip or a car, they drive on the left. I don't normally mention the staff but on this occasion I make the exception as they were an integral part of our holiday. On arrival we went to the restaurant and as we entered were greeted by my name and room number. Within a short space of time all the staff knew us, greeting us with big, wide smiles and making sure we had the best time ever. In particulate Kushi, Shrishna, Manisha, Fourdoor, Katsia, our lovely cleaning lady, the animation team who work hard and not forgetting Vanessa, whom I am sure kept a watchful eye on our stay to make sure it was as wonderful as it could be and whom I am sure was responsible for putting us in a great seaview room. Regarding food and drink, it was plentiful, varied, well cooked flavoursome and suited our needs and will say no more as everyone has their own view on what they want or need. The view from the room and/or the beach is fantastic, as you look across the lagoon to the jungle, mountains, reef and more. We were made to feel special, had a relaxing time, enjoyed good company, enjoyed being in Mauritius. No complaints from me.

A lovely hotel, only 60+ rooms, so felt very personal. The ground and hotel were all kept clean. A small lagoon which is reached from the grounds. Very peaceful and relaxing. If you want more things to do in the evening it may be a little remote. We found it ideal as we wanted a relaxing break. There is a public bus that runs outside the hotel to the local town. Trips are easily organized from the hotel reception. A private taxi will take you to wherever you want to visit and not overly priced. Staff members who really stood out we're Manisha for helpful advice and general friendliness, kushi who was always smiling and mixed the best cocktails and su who kept our room and bathroom immaculate. Overall a lovely hotel. Would of been nice to have maybe some lighter options for more snacky things. But a minor issue.

Hotel is small , friendly , beautiful , well kept gardens Good pool, rather cold though Good sun loungers Lovely and clean Shame they have lost some beach to nature , this needs some work , old tyres , is not an appealing look Beautiful lagoon Good choice of food Extremely helpful and friendly staff Entertainment ok Gym is rather old and over crowded Massage was lovely , worth the money Rooms a little tired, some small touches , eg: extra pillows, towels, dressing table mirror , more lights , proper chairs , balcony chairs, sun beds , etc , would make it a more pleasing, experience Couple of stray dogs ,around , would be nice if the hotel supplied water for them and waste food , at night ,in a certain area maybe . Enjoyed our stay , the staff make you feel so welcome , they can’t do enough for you , full credit to them . The boathouse is a let down , you can apparently use the paddle boats , canoes , free of charge BUT it is too windy , water to high , water to low So you actually, never get to use them The workers sit in there all day , doing nothing , they could be useful and clean the plastic from the side beach This lets the hotel down and needs addressing . A beautiful place , just a few small changes and it would be great

Just back from an 8 night stay at this hotel. Had a great stay, the staff were always very attentive and lovely. The grounds were well kept & plenty of space to spend time in the sun. The small beach area (pictured below) was great to walk along or sit at with lovely white sand. The food choices were what you’d expect of a 3 star hotel, varied enough & always tasty so we were happy. Very spacious room (120) and always kept very clean by maids. I see people moaning about bugs in other reviews but at the end of the day it’s a tropical island in the Indian Ocean. The most we saw was wee lizards living in the grass outside! Overall I found nothing to complain about, and had a great relaxing week. Thanks to everyone at Jalsa :-)

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Jalsa. Having read all previous reviews, I’ll make my own opinion. It’s a 3 star hotel, in a hot country! We had a lovely time. Staff very friendly and try to please you at every turn. We found the food ok & edible. The drinks were plentiful. Very large room and clean. (307) Boat house (Youdish) very helpful in organising trips, far cheaper than the Reps. didn’t use Spar facilities so no comment. it was their winter, although still very warm, a few quick showers and warm wind most days. In conclusion, would I return, yes. Just because it says AI, a 3* hotel will not be the same as 5*. The holiday price reflects this.
