We stayed at the hotel, and the positive is that it's very close to the mosque—only a five-minute walk, which is very convenient.
Whenever I travel to Medina, I don't go for luxury. I go to visit the Prophet's Mosque, be in the Prophet's city, and experience the spirituality. That's what matters most to me.
I was disappointed with Saj Al Madina. Although it's rated as a four-star hotel, it didn't feel like one. The staff were very friendly, but the hotel itself is outdated. I'd say it looks around 20 years out of date.. The bathrooms don't feel modern, and the bedrooms are quite basic.
We also experienced several issues during our stay. Our key card stopped working at least four times, and on some occasions an engineer had to come and fix the problem. There were also times when we asked for our room to be cleaned, but despite being told it would be done, we returned to find it hadn't been cleaned.
Overall, I don't feel the price we paid reflected the standard of the hotel. I expected better value for the money.
My advice would be to modernise the facilities, improve the overall appearance of the hotel, and provide a more consistent level of service.
