Great location. Note that it’s located on a road that cars can’t park so it’s a bit of an inconvenience cause we had a lot of luggages to carry. Room and furniture are a bit old but has pretty much everything

Very comfortable, roomy, and immaculate room with fridge kettle live TV and sofa. I was surprised at the excellent quality for the price. The hallway was a bit smelly (perhaps a short-term damp carpet issue?), no view to speak of, and they charged $10 just to hold my luggage til 4 pm after checkout. Office hours could be extended, but with such a comfortable room at the price I pai, who can complain?

I arrived at Melbourne airport at 23:00 date of 23 April, 2026. I came at the front door of City Square Motel at around 1AM 24 April 2026, no one there, I could not open the glass door, I entered PIN 5922 on booking Trip.com sent me with no luck, and I tried to call the phone number in the glass for with no answer. I had to wait until there was 1 black man went out from the inside. I stepped in and met a 2nd men (white skin), I asked him some information then he went out. I took the key Room 212, and came to the Reception Desk, I suddenly read on the notice board the Motel recommend guest: PLEASE CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU SEE THIS PERSON IMMEDIATEL”: the man in the picture exactly was the 2nd white skin man I have just talked to, I was too scared and looked out the main gate, he was still standing there and stared at me for minutes. Feel not be safe when staying in City Square Motel, I decided to leave to find another safer place. I submitted this warning to you and ask for your help to refund the rest 3 nights to me due to not my fault in cancelling this staying.

Close to Public Transport and Wheelchair Accessible access as well.

Location is very central. Lot of restaurant and shops around. Value for money. Minor findings on cleanliness - dust and carpet smell.

I think you cannot ask for more for a budget accomodation located in the heart of CDB.  Very convenience location, in the heart of CBD.  Chinatown is 10 mins accessible on foot. Heaps of good food stores to choose from.  QV shopping mall is a must visit.  Be aware that the hotel facility is really run down and smelly.  If you ask me will I book it again, .... nah.

Location (10/10): Excellent location right in front of the tram stop and just a block away from Flinders Street Station. It's surrounded by plenty of food options and shops—super convenient, accessible, and walkable. No complaints at all here! Service & Amenities: The staff are approachable and helpful when needed, and they are reachable even after hours. Note that the lift is a bit old-fashioned. To mention a couple of minor maintenance issues, I noticed the door handle was very loose I reported it the next morning, and they tightened it right away. Also, I noticed other rooms had upgraded digital door locks, so mine was likely just an older model that they hadn't gotten around to changing yet. Cleanliness: Cleanliness was a bit disappointing and could definitely be improved, even for a budget-friendly motel. However, if you need housekeeping, make sure to ask staff directly in person rather than relying on the door sign. Room: The room size is accurately depicted in the photos—what you see online is what you get, with no misleading marketing images (from my perspective). Overall Experience: This motel is totally fine if you just need a place to sleep and plan to spend most of your day out. It's okay to stay alone, but as a solo female traveler, I think it's better to stay here with a companion. As another reviewer mentioned, "you get what you pay for"—just don't expect high-end luxury service.
