Little Drifter Melbourne

While I enjoyed my stay in Melbourne for the most part (first time visitor), and the hostel’s location cannot be beat, how I was treated towards to the end of my stay just really ruined my mood. I had a flight at 6:00am on my day of checkout so I was checking out early. I packed up everything and left my dorm early (didn’t want to pack in the middle of the night to disturb other’s sleep) and came to the reception at 12:30am. I told the guy at the reception desk I am checking out early and will stay in the lobby till around 3:00am to go to the airport, and then I went to rest on a couch at a corner. During my very short stay in the lobby (I ended up leaving early at 2:30am because I was SO BOTHERED), the hostel staff treated me as if I am a homeless person on a bench. They came to me THREE times in the 2 hours i stayed to tell me I am not allowed to sleep- I was barely taking a nap on the couch and very much aware of my surroundings. I understand the guys are at work and don’t want any trouble during their shifts but really I I was bothering nobody and I’m a guest, and technically my checkout time is at 10am. This incident truly bothered me as I’m writing this review in the airport at the moment. Other than this, one other thing to note is that the dormitory bathrooms weren’t cleaned daily during my stay- I have stayed in other similar hostels that provided daily bathroom cleaning. At the end of my review I must add that I did enjoyed my stay for the most part and the hostel has well maintained facilities and well organized events, the overall vibe is very pleasant and I do recommend this hostel for other backpackers.

One of the best hostels in Australia and THE BEST in Melbourne! 10/10 Location, walking distance from CBD and Victoria Library, met many amazing people there, dorm got perfect space and private bathrooms, laundry room is big and easy to use, would come back and stay for another time!!

I am extremely satisfied this time. The entire hostel with great location, the rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms—was perfectly clean. In particular, it's quite rare for hostels to have private bathrooms in the rooms, and they clean them every day. The beds also have their own power outlets and reading lights, and they are very spacious, so I slept really well throughout the whole trip. Everyone staying here is highly disciplined, maintaining a very quiet and peaceful environment at night. When a minor misunderstanding arose, the management responded and handled it immediately, which I truly appreciate. However, the training for the part-time staff could be slightly improved. Clean, friendly frontdesk and Affordable for backpackers.

Superb CBD location with incredibly easy access to the train station. The app-based door locking system is a total game-changer.. so convenient not having to carry around a physical key card or worry about losing it. Service was a solid 4/5; the staff were helpful, though it felt a bit awkward when they were casually chatting with someone else while assisting me. Amenities could also use a slight upgrade, like providing a hair dryer or offering towel rentals. Overall a great stay!

The location of the hostel is great, you could arrive Queen Victoria Market with just a 5 minute walk.
