"Five of us were booked for Christmas Day lunch with a local Butcombe pub, but the pub had to cancel the booking due to an unexpected and sad event. So they offered us an alternative booking at the Kings Arms. We arrived at the Kings Arms and found it a lovely homely atmosphere with dining in a number of areas that seemed more intimate than one big dining area. The greeting was friendly and we were shown to our table. Drinks orders were taken and within a short while the drinks arrived, followed by our pre chosen starters. The two main courses chosen were turkey, or roast beef. Both were excellent with generous portions of tender and flavoursome meats, and vegetables. The meals were nicely presented and everyone finished with totally empty plates. We had puddings followed by an extra sharing cheese board, and again they were excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Day lunch and rated it as one of the best that we have had. It wasn’t just the good food and nice ambiance of the surroundings but that the staff were so friendly and accommodating. It was the first time that any of us had visited The Kings Arms but after such an enjoyable experience who hops to visit there again in the future."
