"The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the pedestrian ferry and car ferry (you can drive your car onto the boat), making it easy to take a boat to Bellagio and other towns. The rooms are a bit small and the facilities are a bit dated, but the direct lake view is absolutely stunning. The breakfast spread is very generous and delicious. All the hotel staff are polite and enthusiastic. There's also free parking available. However, lunch and dinner felt a bit overpriced and the taste was just average."

Lake Como Hostel ★★

"I had been to the Menaggio Hostel 20 years ago or more and it was a great experience and feeling to return, especially because with the 4 bunk beds you can meet people from all over the world, as well as admire the beautiful Lake Como and my room also had a terrace overlooking the lake. The Hostel is 2 steps from the pier where you can go to Bellagio, Varenna, Como and Ticino, Porlezza, as well as from the town center and just after the hostel you can go walking towards various paths. There are nearby parking lots for those coming by car and frequent buses/boats for those coming by public transport. They are also renovating/fixing some rooms in view of the full spring/summer season. I needed 4 days of detachment, reprocessing, peace, to find myself so I didn't take advantage of it, but there is also a restaurant bar (from 13 euros up) attached to the Hostel, so what is needed for a holiday or support for workers passing through, people of all ages, from teenagers to older people but who have a young spirit inside and can regenerate here :) I will return Andrea Ghelfi"

"The Location of this hostel is stunning (besides the steps on the way up)! A short work from the town and ferry, we were very pleased! Room was very basic along with the shared bathroom, but couldn’t complain for the price. The staff were amazing, welcoming and caring! We spent a few evenings in the sister hostel round the corner, and the service was incredible! The staff chatted with us, and celebrated a birthday with us too. Would highly recommend this place if you’re okay with basic for a few days!"

"This was the most stunning hotel we stayed at during our entire trip. Both the interior and exterior were renovated and very stylish, yet the original crystal chandelier was still retained, a perfect blend of modern and classic. The staff were all incredibly welcoming; after check-out, they even gave us a small gift bag filled with adorably packaged water and candy – so thoughtful! We definitely want to stay here again next time!"

"The hotel is very nice but located 15 minutes from the center with stairs (a tough climb...). It has a clean pool, very pleasant staff, and the best part is the balcony: lovely in the evening with a bit of a breeze, overlooking the pool, playing cards on the balcony, it feels like a real vacation. The location is very quiet, and the restaurant offers reasonable value for money."

"DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL! We have just left after three nights in this hotel which was suppose to be a special occasion. On arriving off the ferry in Menaggio with all our suitcases we found that this hotel is located almost half an hour walk up a very steep hill. There was no shuttle provided by the hotel and I emailed them before I arrived asking if they could provide transport from the ferry on arrival but they never replied. There are no taxis or ubers at the dock so we had no choice but to walk, p.s there never is taxis or users available. I cannot stress how aweful the climb up cobbled footpaths in the heat was, we had to carry our suitcases for a stretch of the walk with great difficulty. We were drowned in sweat and very unhappy, even though we consider ourselves relatively fit and it got worse from there. When we arrived, the male hotel receptionist did not care that we had experienced this dreadful climb and offered no aplogies. He said he can organise taxis for guests for a charge of 30 euro cash. This seems to be a little side business in this hotel, by offering no shuttle bus they are cleaning up off their guests getting 30 euros for an 6 min drive, knowing their guests have no other option.DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL WITHOUT A CAR! Also we were then given a room that could not fit our suitcases in, it was so small we had to store our cases in the wardrobe. We paid for a classic double room with a balcony and view of the lake. The view was blocked by a tree and our balcony was right beside the entrance to the hotel on the ground floor so we could not use it for privacy reasons. The shower was so tiny, you could not turn in it and there was no water in the room on arrival. The food was poor especially the evening meals, very poor choice and basic but expensive. We spoke to other guests about these issues and they too could not believe the dIstance up the hill by foot and they complained about their room size to the hotel and ended up having to move three times to different rooms. I cannot stress enough not to spend your special time in Como at this hotel. Pay a little bit more for a better location in a different hotel because this is not a hotel you will feel pampered or well looked after."
