NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Resort

NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Resort

Merimbula|2.06km from city centre
We booked 6 nights in a Beachcomber Villa. We landed in Villa 1 which was the furthest back so the views were nowhere near what they’d be in Villa 3 or 4. If you specifically want that view from the photos then request one of those ones. The villa was well proportioned for our little family of 4. The kids bedroom gets very warm and the fan isn’t great but the rest of the villa was well ventilated and breezy thanks to the elevation of the villa itself. The deck was lovely to sit and have meals. We didn’t sit indoors to eat at all. There was a card left stating our villa had been cleaned by 3 people…it wasn’t the best with a dirty bin lid, messy cupboards, and some sort of caked stains on the kids bedsheets but we put this down to a busy Jan season. Having shaded parking under the villa was a huge plus however a downside is a noisy road out back. The early rises of 5am heading to the beach is loud in the bedrooms. Our kids are up early so not much of an impact to us but if you like a lie in that could be an issue. The park had great facilities like the kids club, splash park and tennis court. I loved the additions of pizza night, fairy floss and doughnut vans visiting. The pool is advertised as heated. Apparently it used to be but 2yrs ago the heating broke and it’s very expensive to fix. We were lucky and visited in good weather but I’d be disappointed if I thought I was getting a heated pool in sub par weather and ended up with that. Also the advertised on-site cafe is closed and has been for some time. Wasn’t an issue for us and you can walk down the hill to a coffee van which is there most of the day. Good coffee too. We’d stay again but I think I’d look at one of the clifftop condos next time.

Let's start with the positives of which there were three. Firstly the water pressure of the shower. Secondly the location to local shops. Thirdly, leaving. The negatives are plenty. Let's start with the price gouging of staying at this hotel in that period between Xmas and NYE. At just over $200 a night this place is a rort for what you get. And what you get is a room that looks as though it hasn't been updated since the 1970's. Bed linen that was old and discoloured and am pretty sure if you ran one of those CSI blue lights over it would have revealed more than you would want it to. A solid beige theme runs throughout the room and extends to the crockery, the bathroom linen and the bathroom tiles. The crockery and utensils were dirty. The microwave looked very much like a first generation model of its type. Beyond a few louvres in the bathroom there was no ventilation. The walls were thin enough to listen to our neighbours snoring. The bed side lamps were bolted to the bedside draws (yes bolted) and given the tattered lampshades they represented a good example of a fire hazard waiting to happen. The 'cleaning' of the room entailed emptying the bin and making the bed as far as we could see. There was scum and dirt on the shower grouting and tiling. Who still uses blankets on the bed? There was a bedside radio embedded in the cabinetry that was a relic of the 1970's ......Overall I would strongly recommend avoiding an overnight visit to this establishment. In the film 'Casablanca' there is a line from Bogart who says ' There is always Paris'' . Well we now have ''There is always Merimbula' when we come to benchmarking future hotels and their standing in regards to quality, cleanliness and value for money. Town Centre has set the base.

My husband and I booked to stay here for one night. When we arrived, the smell inside the room was so strong of cleaning products that we had to open all the windows and the front door to get fresh air. When we tried to go to sleep, the smell was still very strong and it was starting to aggravate my throat and I had to turn on the air conditioning to keep ventilating the space and leave the front door open. We tried to sleep but hardly slept and in the early hours of the morning decided we needed to vacate the room. I called the motel and requested a refund and the receptionist told me that she had warned the proprietor against letting the room out because of the smells but that no other room had been available at the time I had booked the room online. She told me that she was unable to help me and that shes would leave a message for her manager to deal with the refund. The proprietor contacted me by email and told me that what the receptionist had told me was incorrect and that the room was fine. (i.e. that her receptionist had lied). She told me that she would have to ask *********** regarding a refund. After several emails, and phone calls to *********** and to *******, I was given the run around and I was unable to get a refund. Although I had booked through ***********, the booking was apparently booked by *******. The proprietor of the motel informed me that she had requested ******* to give me a refund. No refund came through I made repeated attempts to get the motel to refund me and they have refused. I do not recommend this establishment.

Robyn's Nest Lakeside Resort
4.5/547 Reviews
Stayed in a two bedroom cabin overlooking the lake. The cabin was very well appointed. The beds were comfortable. Very serene sitting on the verandah, watching the birds and kangaroos. The sound of bell birds was delightful. There was a barbecue on the verandah too. Plenty of easy walks around the property and the grandson loved the jetty. The resort is close to town and various beaches and attractions around the area. Loved Pambula, the Merimbula main beach and the aquarium. Plenty to see and do, or just relax and enjoy the ambience. Not our first visit and won’t be our last.
Ocean View Motor Inn Merimbula
4.2/544 Reviews
We booked direct and asked for a room on the 2nd floor. It afforded us a very nice view of the town and lake. The motel is older style, but was very clean and comfortable. The room was a good size, with queen bed, 2 seater settee, table and chairs. The usual MWO, plates, toaster etc. Shower was good, the aircon was older style, but was a split system so wasn't too noisy. We heated up the room, and turned it off when we went to sleep. The room remained warm all night. Be aware if you google the motel, the address will be listed as Merimbula Drive, not 1 View street. The motel is on the corner of those streets. We were driving down and as as it was getting dark, had trouble finding it. We walked down into the CBD for dinner, only a 14 minute walk.
Lakeside Holiday Apartments Merimbula

We've been visiting Merimbula for 10 years now, and this was our 4th stay at Lakeside. We look forward to our summer holiday every year, and know we'll be well looked after by the super friendly manager Matt, and so comfortable in the neat and tidy apartment which has all the mod cons. The lawns and gardens are just impeccable, and the pool always clean and inviting! And there's the tennis court and ping pong table for when it's not so sunny! Oh and the communal bbqs which you could literally eat off! You can't get a better location than this...the lake and beach right at your front door, and an enjoyable stroll into main street... Everything seaside holidays are made of! Thank you once again Matt, we can't wait to come back 😊
Black Dolphin Resort Motel & Apartments

The breakfast is 10.5 Australian dollars/person. If you don’t bring breakfast, it’s a good choice to eat there. After all, I drive out. Many restaurants in the town are not open. I think this is quite good. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and comfortable The seaside can be walked in September. It may be a bit cool before the summer. It is very popular in summer. It is a holiday destination for locals. If you want to go in the summer in Australia, friends suggest to book early The second-row house where the front desk opens at the gate is easier to find
Pelican Motor Inn

In addition to the bath faucet fixed, it is not convenient to take it down to give the child a bath, everything else is very good, the old lady at the front desk also patiently gave the map for our reference, can close the store on Sunday
Tasman Holiday Parks - Merimbula

It was the fist time that paid a deposit to find the nightly rate had gone up from $125 to $140. Previously other venues had increased their rates after I booked but locked mine in at the rate at booking time. The cabin was very clean and the furniture was all in good condition with a very comfortable main bed. The staff were friendly and helpful and there were a number of friendly people to mix with. A stroll of ten minutes would get you into town where a number of cafes, clubs and supermarkets could be found. This park was kept very tidy and has some great ammenities such as heated covered pool and spa, mini golf and basket ball rings
