Crowne Plaza South Beach - Z Ocean Hotel

Check in was nice, easy and informative. All staff were helpful, accommodating, polite and friendly. Room was clean , tidy spacious and relaxing. On-site restaurant again all staff were polite and efficient. Great choice of food on the menu and overall made to feel very welcome.

The Z Ocean hotel is a lovely gem in very central Miami Beach. We arrived somewhat late and were met by 2 gorgeous Labradoodles at reception (and also reception staff! :) ) The check in process was very smooth and we were given a lovely and really spacious room (thank you!!) It most definitely changes the experience when you have some room to move within the room! The amenities are great with modern facilities, comfortable bed and large shower. The hotel has a cafe serving a nice breakfast menu on street level, whereby you do receive a voucher to use per day person, which we found to be excellent and very convenient. The hotel is in a fantastic location. A short walk away to Espanola way, Lincoln road and of course the beach! The beach is a 2 minute walk across the road. Any which way you turn from the hotel, you will be met by cafes and restaurants and the hustle and bustle of Miami Beach. We really enjoyed our time and would stay here again.

So many good things about this place. Here are the good: It’s in the perfect location. Right in the middle of everything, on Ocean Drive, near the beach, Espanola Way, and Lincoln Road. The rooms are great, big, good furniture, and balcony. Very nice shower with rainfall head, a microwave and fridge as well as a bar area. Bikes are included at no cost. We used them to ride up and down the beach boardwalk. The staff were great and very accommodating. Had a wine bottle opener to borrow without any questions. Beach towels, chairs and umbrella are included at the beach at no cost. This is huge. Had a great experience and would definitely return and stay here again, despite the few negatives. And here are the negatives: The bikes (although free) are dated. One rear tire was bend and wobbled when rolling. One seat was broken. For some reason, there were weird exchanges around towels. You are supposed to give them your towel card in exchange for beach/pool towels. The housekeepers kept taking the pool towels when making up the room, so we couldn’t get our towel card back. The front desk would look at us as if we were trying to steal the towels. This could all be resolved if they just told housekeeping to not take the towels from the room. Also, we did not have towels replaced in the room when it was made up. When asking for bath towels, again there was hesitation as if we were hoarding them. Not sure why this was an issue. Other hotels don’t seem to have issues with this. And lastly, the gym leaves much to be desired. It is outdoors with no AC. Not sure how that works during south Florida summers. There is also not much to it, a few treadmills and a few dumbbells, the lightest ones were 30#. What if you needed something lighter? No universal machines.

Another wonderful stay at Z Ocean. This is easily our favorite South Beach Hotel. From the spacious & beautiful rooms, to the hot tub & pool, there is nowhere we would rather stay. The restaurant on site has delicious breakfast & the bar serves up amazing mojitos!

Unfortunately, we have to say, that we were very dissatisfied with our stay. We stayed 7 people for 3 nights in 3 double rooms. While the rooms were tidy and clean, the hotel's service fell well below our expectations. Moreover, the hotel's security was nonexistent, culminating in a burglary in our adjacent rooms, facilitated through the balcony of our own room. Consequently, we were forced to remain awake until 3 am for the police investigation, without any proactive assistance or communication from the hotel staff. Upon checkout, there was no acknowledgment or follow-up from the reception. This obvious disregard for our safety and lack of empathy was profoundly disappointing. A gesture such as offering an alternative room could have mitigated the inconvenience, but even an apology was absent. Regrettably, this experience leaves us unwilling to revisit or recommend the establishment to others.

We've stayed here 3 times - 2019, 2021, 2023 - always in August. The location can't be beat with the hotel being walking distance to great restaurants and bars, grocery and convenience stores, and liquor stores. This comes in handy because you have a fridge and microwave in your room. The reasonable resort fee includes two beach lounge chairs with an umbrella, just steps away from the hotel. The lounge chairs and umbrella alone are worth more than the daily resort fee. The restaurant downstairs (not owned by the hotel), Front Porch, has great food and wonderful staff. This property used to be a Crowne Plaza property and I was nervous when it seemed to have no new ownership earlier this year. I booked at another hotel, but once I saw that Sonesta took over, I changed my booking back to Z Ocean. We love the location and that all rooms have generous balconies with patio furniture. The rooms have two refrigerators - one used by the hotel for minibar items and one empty for you. There is also a drawer of non-perishable minibar items in the kitchenette area. You have a sink, dishes, utensils, drinking glasses and coffee mugs. There is either a Nespresso or Keurig in the room, also. We love the split bathroom - it's one long bathroom with sliding doors to separate the two vanity areas and the toilet (three sections) with the huge shower with multiple sprays and shower heads at one end of the bathroom. The only complaint would be the rooms could use a refresh. The sofas are not comfortable at all. The furniture overall could use some updating and it would be great to periodically check that all light fixtures are working and all knobs (for example, shower faucet knob) are in place. I'm hoping Sonesta puts a little money into this property to make it shine. During our stay this year, several team members stood out for us with their fantastic service: Daniel (manager), and front desk team Stacey, Andrea, and Serge. They took care of every little thing we needed and asked for with the sort of graciousness you would hope to receive. A really stellar team! We can't wait to get back to making this a yearly visit!

Someone entered my room without permission and stole some very valuable stuff. The hotels' response was totally embarrassing (room next to mine was broken into as well). Not a safe hotel to stay at… can get way better for you money elsewhere.

Hotel was clean for most of the part even though there were some renovation going on. Staffs were nice and helpful. Shout out to Mr. G!!! Maintenance helped fixed our jacuzzi within 15 minutes when we couldn't get it started. I would definitely come back here.
