Hotels near Piccolo Teatro Strehler in Milan

Stayed at the hotel for two nights. The room was clean and the staff was nice. Also brought a car and used the hotels private parking which was well hidden away from the public, for €35 per night. Located close to the city centre. All in all a good stay!

I was lunching at VMaison several months ago, but I remember very well the experience that was very good. I ordered fantastic club-sandwitchs, very recommended, and a great tiramisu. Beyond the quality of the pieces, the restaurant's context is charming, within a stunning and very refined boutique hotel. Prove it also outside, there is a very nice outdoor space. The hotel is somewhat off-centre (away from the business districts of Milano), but within broader city centre with reasonable public transport (~20 mins tramway including wait at the stop) and ~10 mins by taxi. Lively city area for non-business travellers (tourists) with choice of restaurants and more public transport links to areas of interest. The cleanliness is rather good, I only scored it less (2/5) because of the interior in bad need of renovation. The design is 1970-s/1980-s and the age since last decoration is probably not much fresher. This gives it the appearance of a run-down place, although they make good effort to keep it clean. The choice of darker brow-nish colours, combined with the installation of (very) very economic light bulbs, makes the room feel too dark and thus - less pleasant to stay in. For a business traveller it is impossible to read anything outside the spot of the reading lamp. It is also impossible to shave in the dark-ish bathroom, except for people who know their face well enough to shave with their eyes closed. The extra lamp above the mirror did not work, it was a bare little bulb (apparently in need of replacement) and the lampshade gone. Further need for maintenance in the bathroom was the sink - with the waste plug not opening to empty the sink, and the latter filling to the safety hole near the top, even form just a brief handwash.. The breakfast area has capacity for a busy crowd in the rush hour of all tourists taking a late breakfast, but the staff struggle to serve everyone fast enough. Some supplies were not replenished (e.g. bread, the fruit juices, milk for coffees) and later nobody ever came to the table to ask if we need something (perhaps they are not meant to serve tables, just clean them and replenish supplies?) The reception area was much brighter lit than the rooms, had modern automatic glass doors, and overall felt newer and better. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Based on the overall experience, approx. 4/5 is a reasonable score, but by the hotel categorisation criteria I think 4 stars is too much and 3-star would describe it more accurately. They should remember that satisfaction is always biased by expectations - from the higher expectations of '4 stars' there would be more dissatisfied guests (like yours truly) than if you honestly promise a decent 3-star experience (then I'd have scored everything 5/5). This wouldn't impact revenues as, from what I know form MIlano hotels, the price was very competitive and would fit a 3-star property. Would I recommend it? To tourists - yes; to business travellers - only as a backup in case of fully-booked Milano like duringthe trade fair or Fashion Week ;)

In Milan, I have also stayed at B&B Hotel Milano Cenisio Garibaldi, Hotel degli Arcimboldi, Lloyd Hotel, Hotel Pierre Milano, Hilton Milan & Mokinba Hotel King. Pros: - Location: (Walking) Porta Nuova (6mins), Corso Como (8mins), Brera Art Gallery (15mins), Monumental Cemetery (17mins), The Fashion District (20mins). - Bathroom amenities: Soap bar, combined shampoo/body wash, shower cap, hairdryer. - Free in-room WiFi (average speed approx. 29Mbps). - Quiet at night. Cons: - Room design is rather impracticle: no chair with back if you need to work (only a pouf stool), small desk not deeper than a laptop, almost no storage spaces, very dimly lit, bright neon light for the keycard slot that you cannot disable during sleep, in-room safe not large enough for a tablet or laptop, no door on bathroom area (so if you travel with someone else, make sure you are comfortable seeing each other intimately). - Breakfast is quite odd and overpriced. Located in the reception area, you can see and overhear all the discussions with guests (or gossip among staff about guests, which we found rather unprofessional!). A set menu plate with no choice (so we had a lot of food wastage). No standard items, ie. no fruit yoghurt, no cereal, no pastries (only a mini donut and mini muffin), no fresh fruit, no hot food, savory items only a couple of slices of ham and cheese from a plastic supermarket packet. Same items every day, mainly bread-based. - Staff need more training for a 4-star hotel. Check-in was slow, used toiletries not replenished when cleaning rooms, unprofessional staff behaviour as mentioned above. - Quality of towels and toiletries very low (more suited to a 3-star hotel). - Many fire escape maps in the hallways are completely incorrect, wrong room numbers and wrong hallway designs. Unsure how these passed safety inspections.

Very good location; 5 mins walk from the station and 20mins walk to Duomo. Easy access to the Metro as well. The lady at reception who welcomed us when we arrived was very nice (half pony tail and blond). The phone in the room doesnt work; had to go down to ask for a kettle. The room is really small though as well as the bed. Great that they allow us to store the luggage before check in and after check out. View from the room overlooking the station is not bad. Not noisy.

The Hotel Brunelleschi is in a convenient location to the main attractions and amenities of Milan, a 5 minute walk in a safe location. The hotel is known for its' business travelers which is how we knew of the hotel from my husband's previous stays. It is clean and well appointed with a spacious lobby, restaurant and bar along with a large dining room on the lower level serving their breakfast buffet. The room was large,comfortable with an additional small sofa which was also a pull out bed. Multiple charges available. The bathroom was well outfitted with great fluffy towels. Generous breakfast buffet offered hot and cold items with a varied selection, even offering Proseco for those who wanted to make mimosas. Staff at the desk gracious and accommodating to questions and requests. Efficient in arranging our car transportation to the airport on departure.

The hotel is very close to the train station, but the entrance is quite small, causing some difficulty in finding it. The breakfast on the top floor is excellent, and the rooms provide a view of the train station.

I´m not sure how it is like to stay at Ostelzzz for several nights, but I find it a very convenient solution for me who arrived around midnight in Milan, and already had leave from Milano Centrale by noon on the next day. I had a proper sleep for one night in a capsule. It really was a hostel, but with so much better privacy. Staffs were extremely kind and helpful. They gave me a welcome drink. Online check-in in advance made my actual check-in so much easier. Had everything I needed, incl breakfast, towel too. Clean and well-organized. Breakfast was simple, but more than good enough for me. I wouln´t hesitate to choose Ostelzzz next time.

What a great hostel, I’ve stopped at many hostels in my time but this was very much one of the better ones. I can only comment on our private room however. Friendly welcome, easy enough check in even though we arrived at 2am due to cancelled trains, not a problem! Great bar and area, things always happening. We saw a live jazz band in there for the one night we were there. Pub crawls, city tours for free, speed dating have it all. Our room was great, clean and comfortable. It was quite loud during the night, noisy neighbours (not the hostels fault) and a weird kind of opening of vents or something from the aircon possibly. Couldn’t put my finger on it but maybe worth looking at. Thankyou to the team!
