Was deciding between The Beach House & The South Lawns Hotel which had slightly better reviews . Glad we decided on The Beach House as it is in a very good location, virtually on the beach front walkway & an easy 10 minutes walk to The Green in the village centre . Very characterful building , had a deluxe room which was a very good size with a super king brass bed . Lovely individual decoration, made a change from more modern uniform hotels . We were lucky with the weather , being able to sit out on the terrace & gardens . All staff we met were polite & friendly . We didn’t eat there in the evening (went to the Smugglers Inn in the village ) . Breakfast is cooked to order , along with cereals , fruits & pastries . Not the best we’ve had but started the day off . Don’t pay attention to the negative reviews . Yes the windows frames are old metal , but there is a double glazed panel & shutters . Heating worked well . Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again .

A bit of a mixed review but overall, a really beautiful hotel with a gorgeous view out the back to the beach. We stayed over valentine's weekend for 1 night in room 22. We booked really late so probably got one of the last rooms which faced the front of the road, no sea view for us. The room itself was spacious with a comfy bed but unfortunately the bathroom was gross. No ventilation and old windows has led to lots of black mould in the shower and ceiling - photos attached. The bathroom radiator wasn't working (which we reported that afternoon when we found out) but was told there was no maintenance on site so it would not be fixed - no one even came to look at it for us! And no other room to move too. So the bathroom was mouldy and freezing and the main shower head didn't work either. Again, we reported this in the evening but was met with a staff member who just said sorry about that. No attempt to try and appease us. On a plus side, we are dinner in the restaurant, food was delish, as was the breakfast and when we checked out and mentioned our unhappiness to another member of staff, he was very apologetic and took our meal off our bill as a gesture which we were happy with. Beautiful old hotel and would absolutely recommend, as long as you're not met with a horrid bathroom like ours. We chatted to other residents who reported no issues with their room so it must be a one off!

We stayed here for 4 nights in Room 10. On arrival, we had to wait for staff as they were busy serving walking groups. Our room was large and quite comfortable. There were a few things that could be improved. The metal bed frame creaked and sqealed with metal rubbing together as you sat on it. Don't book a romantic night in this room. The hot water tap was very hot and should have signs to warn people, the cold water tap was luke warm, not cold. The easy chair wobbled. There is plenty of draw space but minimal wardrobe space due to the old large furniture. There is minimal lighting, and one of the lamps didn't work. Our bed was made and bins emptied, but the floor wasn't cleaned. We found a Kindle in a drawer, so obviously, it isn't cleaned well. I hope the person got it back. We ate in the restaurant once and had a nice meal but waited a while for the bill. One poor lady had to send her food book twice, and another couple were given the wrong food. Staff were lazy, at breakfast, we only had milk on the table when Rumen was working and then when I asked a staff member for a coffee, she told me to make my own, I asked for a latte out of the machine which she didn't seem happy about. When it came, I couldn't drink it, perhaps more training is needed.

We visited the Beach House for coffees today and we chose a table by the window which had not been cleared of the dirty cups of the previous occupants. Nobody came to clear the table. Coffees were ordered . The member of staff whom we spoke to on arrival was chatting to a friend or colleague and didn’t come to clear the table. Then the coffees were brought and the dirty cups were still there. We asked for them to be removed but he didn’t return to wipe the table! No excuse as they were very quiet, almost nobody else was there. Other tables were left with dirty cups and plates too.Lazy staff. What’s going on? This used to be a great place. The coffees however were fine.

Last minute booking for us after our weekend in Venice was ruined by the Heathrow fiasco! Great choice though. A really beautiful old house retaining so many lovely period features. We had a lovely room at the front. Plenty of space and comfy bed. Lots of hot water and nice bed linen and pillows! We ate in the hotel 2 nights and had terrific food. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful. Sometimes seem a bit stretched for staffing but they were always smiling. Great location for beach walks straight out of the back garden. After the disappointment of our Venice trip being cancelled, this was the perfect way to cheer us up. We made a good choice here and would visit again. We were even lucky with the weather!

Went with a large group for lunch, split into tables of 6 or 4 and waited over 50 minutes for the first course and almost 90 minutes for the main course. When the food arrived it was good, but smaller family groups were being served quickly, so much so that some arrived after we'd sat down, eaten two courses, and had left before we'd been served our main course. Only two serving members of staff on duty, who were also trying to man the bar area, serving coffees and snacks etc. Hall & Woodhouse need to employ extra staff, but come April 2025 when the higher NI costs hit employers, and increase in the minimum wage, heaven knows what will happen.

My friend reserved a room at this hotel, and I came to visit and stay as well. Earlier today, we were greeted by two incredibly kind and friendly housekeepers who asked if we needed service. My friend happily said yes, and while they cleaned our room, we took a walk around the Milford On Sea town. When we returned, the room was spotless—the bed was perfectly made, the towels were neatly arranged, the floors were immaculate, bathroom looked like it was brand new, and everything was refreshed to perfection. The attention to detail was outstanding! Overall, the service was exceptional, and I’d definitely return just because of it!
