Super 8 by Wyndham Minot Airport

Tammy was a Amazing, super pleasant to deal with and super helpful I think she definitely deserves a raise at the very least!!! Decent stay, nothing to complain about. It was a typical stay at a super 8. We stayed in a double queen room. Some channels didn't work but that didn't really change our opinion of having A decent place to stay for the night!

The price seemed very attractive, especially considering this is a suite. Upon arrival the checkout process is very long and drawn out with a list of increasingly invasive questions. The staff was very friendly about the process and apologized as they were under orders to ask the long list of questions. With taxes and ”fees” the seemingly very good deal became less of a good deal overall, still far less than booking through the hotel directly by about fifty percent. Booking ahead on Priceline did nothing to reduce the time this process took. The rooms themselves are a good size, proper little kitchen area, microwave, cooktop, good sized counter top. Bar stool seating, and a nice living room area and desk area in addition to of course a bed. There's also a lot of storage area for those staying longer periods of time. Sadly, nothing is included with the room beyond soap and towels. You don't get a coffee maker, cup, plates, cutlery, an alarm clock, etc. The condition of the room itself was VERY worn. Couches and chairs looking worn down and threadbare, tables and furniture with water marks, surface wear, as well as other age related damage. The bed was also too soft, indicating that the mattress may also be very old. The breakfast was almost non-existant. There were some granola bars, some instant oatmeal, coffee, and I don't recall what else, maybe some cereal. It was by far the worst continental breakfast I've seen in my decades of traveling in hotels around the continent. If looking for a hotel in the area and you really want seating in room, a good sized fridge and microwave and are alright with not getting an included breakfast, you might still want to consider this hotel if the price is right, just set your expectations VERY low.

I really hope our room was being remodeled because where the long mirror and pictures were just hooks and scrapes in the wall. Didn't realize how small a single queen would be - couldn't get our suitcase through the space between the TV stand and bed and the bedspread was disgusting. There was also hair remnants on the bathroom sink that were not ours. We booked for two nights over a baseball tournament, a Wednesday and Thursday, and tournaments are usually based on win/lose games. My husband talked to the gal working Wednesday afternoon if we could check out without getting charged and was told that if we could let them know Thursday morning before checkout if we were staying Thursday night and not be charged. We decided not to stay Thursday night and when my husband talked to the front desk Thursday morning the gal was rude and told my husband that their policy was to cancel our room by 3 pm the day before or we'll get charged and that the girl working the previous day was wrong. The state fair was in town and they could have easily re-rented our room for more than we paid. I felt it was bad business not to be somewhat flexible.

Candlewood Suites Minot

This property is clean and located close to a Walmart and various restaurants, but the street it is on lacks crosswalks or sidewalks to get to those places safely. The hotel also has a lending locker with items like blenders, panini presses, and slow cookers to facilitate your extended stay. What a cool idea! The rooms are spacious, albeit somewhat odd in their layout that maintains a fair amount of unused space. If you have to spend a night in Minot, this is a great place to do so that won't break the bank.

I don't like writing bad reviews but in this case I believe it is necessary. The entire hotel had a really, really bad tobacco smoke odor. Almost unbearable. When I walked in I thought...Smoke... maybe it's just in the lobby, but my room and the hallway on 3rd floor was just as bad. I stayed one night when I should have walked out. When I finally got home my suitcases were reeking of smoke but a few days sitting out in the Texas sun and wind killed the odor. The suit case contents and I got washed. It is a shame, too, because otherwise the place was good, good parking, coffee, food, gasoline, airport nearby, good lighting, quiet, clean, prairie dog watching, and nice personnel. So... if you don't mind intense smoke smell it would be an ok place to stay.
