We’ve just returned from Kempense-Meren, and we had a really nice time. If you go and expect to get actual Center Parcs on the cheap, then you’ll be disappointed. But you will find somewhere that has similarities with Center Parcs and is comparative value for money. The village is in a lovely, peaceful woodland setting. It’s on the shore of a lake with a sand beach, which has a little beach bar on it. The lake itself is used for a few activities like paddle boarding, pedal boats etc. There is a good swimming pool with slides, rapids and an outdoor pool. It isn’t brand new, but it’s well-maintained and clean. There were also very good quality clay tennis courts - they actually looked like Roland Garros! The ‘centre’ building has a few amenities like a shop, sports bar and a couple of food places. All of these were quite pricey, I thought, and the building wasn’t buzzing into the night. Finally, the cottages themselves were nice-looking and functional. They had a nice living area downstairs and a patio. They lacked an oven, got very hot (in summer) and the pathways up to some of them were pretty much non-existent - which would be awkward in bad weather. There were also quite a few mosquitos. All in all, we enjoyed it here. It wasn’t luxurious - but you get what you pay for. We would re-visit.

Accommodation was damp, dated and missing items we weren't experiencing luxury but this was well below par... Site was noisy with barking dogs and groups. On top of that we caught a stomach bug (possibly from the swimming pool). Really disappointing. On the plus side, the main public spaces were good although a fair bit of dog mess around the site.

I had a wonderful stay at Sunparks Kempense Meren. I enjoyed Aquafun, mini golf, the beach, bowling, petting farm and the restaurants. I enjoyed the chalet we stayed at, it's just what you need for a stay but I do recommend bringing your own bedding or hire one at reception. I loved staying in a forest enviroment plus good attractions nearby and look forward to returing in the near future.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our chalet was basic as expected for a 3 star, but clean, comfortable and met all our needs. We loved the aqua centre, lake and beach and found it occupied us (with 11&15 year olds) well. Good value and we will be back

This place is honestly not great. We are visiting Belgium from South Africa, with 3 teenagers, in July. Maybe that contains 2 caveats: we are really spoilt by the holiday resorts, spaces, amenities and service in our home country, and we have 3 teenagers (2 boys and a girl) that need satisfying. And that’s not going to happen with mini golf, a very small, indoor water park, and slow food service. The chalet is incredibly basic. It’s understandably self-catering but we were not even given toilet paper. We were each given a plastic wrapped, threadbare towel and hand towel, but there is not even hand soap in the bathroom or dish soap to wash the dishes. Breakfast is only served from 8-10am, which is a challenge for teenagers on holiday. The food was finished quickly and took a while to replenish. And the service at the only restaurant open for lunch is painfully slow! The 6 beds are reasonably comfortable, with a duvet and one pillow each. But the room was obviously cleaned minutes before we were allowed to check in at 3pm, because the floor looked like buckets of water had been thrown across it or there had been a flooding incident to clean up. As a result, we had no option but to muddy the floors with our shoes and luggage, as there is not even a doormat and the unit is surrounded by sand / thin grass. So we started with dirty floors :( The linen from the previous visitors was left outside our unit (for collection?) for our entire 2 night stay. The signage is also awful! This place is a maze of units and one way roads (all the same direction)! We drove past our unit 3 times trying to get out! The only exit signage is just as you have found your way. Also, one is not allowed to park outside your unit. Which means long walks to/from car park. In winter or rainy weather, this is not great. Many disobey and park outside though. And the WiFi doesn’t reach the room. We thankfully logged into Centreparcs WiFi next door, but that would come & go.

This place offered so much but delivered so little…… Stayed here with my son, the facilities on site are adequate at best! Shop was not stocked well and what they did have was very overpriced!. The restaurant/cafe was nice but no lie we literally waited 1 hour 12 mins to get served! No apology or anything! They have a buffet restaurant that was utter rubbish at a ridiculous price. The place was rammed and hardly any staff however the little staff they did have are polite. Accommodations were dates and dirty and offered little. I will never return!

We visited Kempense Meren in July 2022. Having been to Sunparks in other locations, we had a pretty good idea about what to expect. The park is a bit tired and the cottages are quite basic but the one we had was spotlessly clean and fresh upon arrival. The park is pretty quiet, unless you are on the beach, and the staff are really welcoming and friendly. We visited the bar for a bite to eat and really enjoyed it (the burgers were particularly delicious!). The activities are pretty reasonable; an hour of paddleboard tuition is 10 euro, for example. The pool looks tired but is clean and well maintained. During the heatwave it was a welcome place to relax and cool down. The area is beautiful and really close to Eindhoven, Antwerp and Maastricht so it's a great base for days out. All in all, if you are looking for a no-frills base for a visit to this area, it is a really good option.

I write this as British visitor and used to Centre Parcs at home. Well aware of the ranking of CP Europe being the next rung down, and then Sunparks as being the 3* option. Overall I'd say we were satisfied with our stay rather than happy. Had we paid more for it I think we would have been unhappy and looking at the summer rates of EUR 170+ a night it's definitely not worth that. Positives are that the pool, sports facilities etc are nearly up to Centre Parcs UK standard. The pool I a bit smaller and the "rapids" aren't as good but still plenty to keep kids happy for a few hours at least each day. Some parts of the pool (ie the showers) looked a bit dated but on the whole it was pretty clean. Negatives of the parc is that the accommodation is old and clearly needs a lot of money spent on it (which is why this parc hasnt been bought into the Centre Parcs branding) I don't mind basic accommodation but it really wasn't clean. I dare you to remove the cushions of your sofa and check what's underneath, it honestly made me gag. I doubt the sofa had been replaced in the 27 years the parc has been open and it looked like there was dog hair/food from the first guest! The parc has a huge wasp problem, not helped by litter bins overflowing and litter on the beach etc. The staff we spoke to seemed helpful but there just weren't enough of them.
