We enjoyed our stay here, the hotel was busy, the pool and kids play area was a welcome addition for the little ones. Rooms basic but clean and all you need, it was quite warm in the rooms but the hotel has supplied electric fans.

We would just like to say a big thank you to the two lovely women working on reception from Monday - Wednesday this week. They were very friendly, welcoming & accommodating. My little boy has Autism & ADHD and they were very understanding of the situation. I asked about kids club for him and we were reassured he would be fine and could attend and he ended up having a brilliant time, he loved it! This is our 4th time staying however our first where our son was old enough for kids club and since his diagnosis. We were able to move to the sensory room on Tuesday and it was amazing, it was a big hit for our son. From the staff, rooms, cleanliness to the bar staff and food - everything was amazing. A very child friendly hotel we would recommend to anyone. I would just like to say a thank you to the girls running the kids club too they were great with all the kids and gave us great reassurance. Very friendly & approachable. Thank you for a lovely stay!!

We booked a family dinner for mothers day. The service was excellent with a young vibrant staff being very helpful friendly and courteous. The food was absolutely delicious and all the mothers received vouchers for the spa along with some chocolates . We sat out in the beautiful garden for a little drink afterwards.

Just love this hotel, one of my favourites, and great value for money. Leisure facilities are great, sitting in an outdoor hot tub in the rain is a wonderful experience. Food is fabulous every time, staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm. Great sized rooms. Can’t wait to be back.

Love this hotel. We go for over night breaks twice a year. Love the pool and jacuzzi Restaurant is always very tasty. Highly recommend

My wife booked this hotel last minute as a getaway before our kids went back to college. She was also dealing with the death of a close friend. It was supposed to be enjoyable and relaxing, but we didn't get that. We were drinking in the bar. There was food being served, and we told the staff we only wanted a drink, and she told us to sit anywhere we wanted. Over an hour later, I went to the toilet, and a waitress approached my wife and told her that she needed the table and to move out to the lobby. She wasn't offered any of the other two seaters in the bar or offered to help move the drink. I went to reception to complain to the reception staff. One of them tried to blame a new system in the hotel. I told them that didn't excuse the waitresses attitude. They got the duty manger that made more excuses for the waitress. We were offered a free drink which I declined. I told them I didn't feel comfortable being served food or drink in the bar after what happened. We ended up getting a takeaway from a local kebab shop. We then sat in the lobby, and I went to the bar and got our drinks. I avoided cocktails because I didn't think I was gonna get a decent service off anyone in the bar because the staff barely addressed me or my wife for the rest of our stay. I still don't know why the duty manager wanted our room number because nothing came of it, and it left us feeling uncomfortable. Why did she ask for it in the first place ? I complained to the manager the next morning. She listened to what happened, and that was the end of it. The staff are poorly trained at dealing with customers, and breakfast had no one working at the door or food counters when we arrived in. Wouldn't recommend the place to anyone. Go to the four seasons instead

I went to my sons wedding here and it was out of this world. The organisation of the event and the event itself was the best I have ever experienced and we have attended many other weddings, but this blew us away. Deane was amazing and excellent at his job as were the receptionists, waiters and bar staff. Everyone went out of their way to make our day special. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough for anyone wanting to plan a wedding. Look no further than the Hillgrove, Monaghan
