We stayed at Skanes Serail as a family of seven, and while there were definitely some positives to our holiday, unfortunately I don’t feel this hotel lives up to its advertised 4-star rating. From my own experience of other 4-star all-inclusive hotels, I would personally rate this closer to a 3-star, basic all-inclusive. Firstly, I want to give credit where it is due. The hotel itself is in a lovely location, situated between Monastir and Sousse, with its own private beach. The cleaners, entertainment team and other hotel staff work tirelessly and were consistently friendly throughout our stay. Our rooms were cleaned to a good standard and, overall, I found the hotel itself to be clean. The entertainment team also deserve recognition. They work incredibly hard, particularly with the children. There is a kids’ club, daytime activities, their own hotel songs and dances that get everyone involved, children’s entertainment in the evening and then entertainment for adults later on, including comedy and other shows. We also had a foam party during our stay, which was great fun. The private beach is one of the better aspects of the hotel. There are additional activities available including jet skis, banana boats, sofa rides and other water sports. These are chargeable, but we really enjoyed them. We also purchased photographs from our water-sports experience, which were transferred directly to our phones and were surprisingly inexpensive — around £9 for ours — and the quality was really good. I am also a runner and felt very safe going out early in the morning for my 5K runs. I could run straight from the hotel onto the beach and along the coastline before turning around and coming back. I never felt unsafe doing this, which was a big positive for me. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the food and the dining experience. The food is extremely repetitive. I appreciate that some repetition is normal with all-inclusive holidays, but this was more repetitive than anything I have personally experienced before. There are live stations where they cook things such as spaghetti, doughnuts and other items in front of you, but the queues can be extremely long. The restaurant at busy times was honestly chaotic. The queues were horrendous and at times it felt like a cattle market, with people pushing in, grabbing food and jumping queues. Eventually we became completely fed up with queuing. I am normally a big meat eater, but after checking some of the meat during our first few days, particularly chicken, and finding it still pink inside, I chose not to eat the meat for the remainder of the holiday. That was disappointing and meant my options became even more limited. We actually went off-site on a couple of occasions simply because we wanted something different to eat. Meal times were roughly breakfast from 7am until 10am, daytime food/snacks around 12pm–3pm, another snack period later in the afternoon and evening meal from approximately 7pm–9pm

Been home a few days and would definitely not go back to this establishment.... arrived about 8-9pm, reception sent us straight to resturant to grab food.. food basic, extremely basic, also food hygiene is non existent, raw meat being cooked and using same utensils or gloves to then serve other food. Drinks basic and taste like crap unless u want premium spirits..even the beer is ropey... first 2 nights our room was directly above nightclub with room vibrating til 4am.. hotel tried to downgrade the room in a room change a family room to 1 room, in the end spoke to guest relations(who is amazing) she had our room changed and upgraded within the hour!however after 2 days being in the new room, thick mold started to appear on the walls and ceiling.. Animation team work hard and so do the bar staff! Cleaning lady always left our room beautiful...Shout out the T the barman who looked after us all week and luffy and is MJ moves... there was alwasy a long que at thw bars, and only 1 bar man... ment for very slow service, donstantly ran out of cups and saw them just rinse them out to use for the next person...hotel in middle of nowhere, to get to shop its a taxi ride also becareful taxi drivers are dodge.. nearest town monastir pretty basic..shops are ok but nothing special. Slides great, pool good. Beach nice once u jump the camel poop...All of the local guests visiting dont seem to have learnt any manners, rude, push into ques and they can walk into the hotel whenever they like as they open the side gate to the sand flats and any tom dick or Harry can walk in. We also had an incident where our children where pushed by full grown men, just so they could go down the slide first.... Men also just randomly pee in bushes. Its a shame that our holiday wasnt what we expected or booked. Suffering with a chest infection after holiday from the mold/ plastic cups not being washed properly isn't the greatest. We made the most of our holiday as best we could... such a shame as this hotel could be of the chart.

Honestly, I was worried about travelling to this hotel after I booked and joined the Facebook page and saw the terrible reviews. However I stand with them. Travelling as a family with 6, 9 and 13 year olds it is not a hotel I would visit again. Before arriving I emailed the hotel for reassurance which they provided me. Positives - they allowed us to use all the facilities when we arrived until our room was ready -you could find pool beds without waking up super early. If not they’re accessible and you can get them yourself and put it where there is space -kids club were friendly -Tayissa at guest relations will help as much as she can -The first room we was in was spacious and clean, but then we had 2 LIZARDS in our room and it took staff half hour to come to get them out. We ended up moving rooms. -kids enjoyed water park, which is open 10-12 and 2-4 Negative - staff do not treat you the same if you’re not Tunisian or from Muslim culture. Or if you not giving constant tips. For example no one ever brings any drinks to you nor at dinner, if you want them to they expect you to pay them a tip each time they bring you a drink. Some Muslim families were given 1.5 litre bottles of coke for their families at meal times for dinner and as we were a family of 6 when we asked we never got. - food is not great, spaghetti everyday, cold and stale fries. Some foods are edible like grilled fish, burger and chicken sometimes. We often ate out. -staff are working in extreme hot conditions with no AC in the kitchen. When some were coming out with plates their uniform was soaking and dripping wet, it would be dripping on the plates which was a put off. -entertainment was poor only enjoyable for kids was foam party but that is at 3pm. - All white party you can sit where food is served outside unless you reserve tables which I think came with a fee. - reception staff have a don’t care attitude -AC in rooms is awful, can barely feel it. AC around hotel is limited, none in hallways or corridors to rooms and limited in main restaurant. - watched lady making omelettes turn people away to then make 2 for herself. - noise from nightclub is horrendous. - when we moved rooms they didn’t help us and moved us in a room with no card lock, key didn’t work and the hole was stuffed with tissue. - the bathroom smelt like urine and was small, which wasn’t acceptable for us being a family of 6.When we showered because the shower curtain rail was hanging and the cubicle being so small, the water overflows and leaks. I had to beg for extra towels to put on the floor. The bin was broken and wasn’t replaced. -the information scanned from QR code it not correct. There is no late breakfast and dinner finishes at 9pm. -Staff member came in the room to look for the lizard and was on his home laughing having a private conversation, which I videoed. Again staff did not acknowledge this. I usually only stay at 4/5 star hotels and I booked this last minute and got a decent deal. If that wa
