Funky Leopard Safari Lodge Bordering Yala National Park

We stayed one night, the operators that helped carrying the luggages are nice, but it is the only thing in this place. We requested a twin bed room and it was a double bedroom. After one hour talking about the difference between two beds and one double-bed io lo room, after showing them the pics published on line that the room had to be with 2 separated beds, the offered a hostel room with mould inside next to the AC! We asked for an immediate refund, but they refused and, always after one hour, they called a lady to separate the beds and put the right bedsheets in the same room of the beginning!!!…So it was only a problem to change the bed sheets and we argued and got angry for an unuseful hour. It is not finished! We booked a private safari tour with a private guide. At 05:15 am of the day after, 15 minutes before the departure , the operator guide came and said we had a sharing safari tour with another couple and no guide. When he saw that we were extremely disappointed, the guy asked if we booked for a private tour…He had no idea of the service we requested! When we came back from the shared Safari the receptionist, a gentleman with mustaches, did not trust us, we had a private safari tour with a private guide. We got really upset because we paid $40 more per person and we did not received what we asked. They did not care about this inconvenient and did not offer us any refund as an apology. We do not recommend this structure as they seemed to be cheaters and disorganized.

We had a lovely experience at the Funky Leopard. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had a nice evening. They were helpful in organising a Safari with eco tours which we thoroughly enjoyed and transfers. Great value for money.

Funky Leopard was an amazing experience, we loved it! The service was 5 stars, the staff, Dew and Anton were extremely attentive, friendly and helpful, they served us amazing 3 course meals for breakfast lunch and dinner in beautiful settings, dinner by the fire under the stars, breakfast on the balcony listening to the wildlife and lively afternoon tea with home made cakes. We relaxed by the pool, watching the monkeys and peacocks. The morning Safari and afternoon nature walk was fantastic, we saw elephants and leopard and many other animals! This was a highlight of our trip!! I will definitely be back!

Funky Leopard Lodge is not a lodge experience, its more like a disapppointing youth hostel. Air conditioning is not available in all rooms (and its hot all night), terrible dribbly showers, pool is plagued by monkeys that defecate in the pool. There is no buffet or a la carte menu. The food, same on consecutive nights, is cooked over at the camping area. There are no food options.

Extremely negative experience. We purchased a private safari with a dedicated guide, but instead we were placed in a group with no guide at all — a completely different service from what we paid for. When we requested a refund for the difference, we were initially assured it would be processed. However, they later changed their position and made the refund conditional upon the removal of a negative review posted by my partner regarding an issue with the room. This is unacceptable and highly unprofessional behavior. We also made it clear that any concerns about the review should be addressed directly with the person who wrote it, yet the refund was never issued. A complete lack of honesty and transparency. Our experience was marked by misleading information and broken promises. Avoid.
