We booked a family room back in January through a third party and received an email today to say that our booking had been cancelled by the hotel "due to overbooking". This can't possibly be true as we booked five months ago. It leaves us in an impossible position as we were hoping to attend the Jane Austen Festival and our chances of finding another family room so close to the event are very slim. Nobody at the hotel is answering the phone, and I see from other reviews that they've been closed since Easter. AVOID.

We booked through a third party in Nov 2023. Arrived today June 2024. It's been closed since before Easter this year. Nothing from the third party other than saying booking confirmed. Nothing from accommodation to say it was closed other than a sign on the door. Not impressed and not impressed this place is still being advertised as open. Shame on owners. It was over grown and looked run down. Do not book!

My wife and I stayed in the Kings Room for one night and would not hesitate to return to this idyllic hostelry. The history literally oozes out of the very fabric of the building and all the staff are very friendly and attentive. The room itself was especially comfortable and a pint or two was enjoyed in the bar chatting with a very friendly couple who lived in the village. The evening meal was exceptional and my wife and I agreed it was one of the best meals we could remember having in a very long time. The menu was well balanced and every course superb. The sauces accompanying the lamb and duck were particularly sumptuous.

We are a local walking group who have a pub lunch every week and visit the Kings Arms from time to time. Seven of our group today all had a wonderful lunch and this pub has certainly moved up the scale. The starters were very tasty and reasonably priced. The mains were equally appreciated by our group.

We dropped in here for lunch today. As a local, I've eaten here on and off for many years, but not for a while. The food was great and the staff welcoming. Maybe we'll book for an evening meal next time. Definitely one to add to our list of favourites.

A very attractive looking old coaching inn in this slightly off the beaten track village, there is a pleasant looking courtyard at the front as well as a small beer garden at the rear. It looks to be quite a substantial size, although it also offers accomodation so not all of it is open to the public. We had hoped to have a bite to eat for lunch such as a sandwich and a bowl of chips, but apparently these are not offered. We do have some pub classics, said the friendly barman, and indeed the menu listed a burger or fish & chips, both at £17. Deciding we’d just settle on some crisps instead, we were again disappointed to be told that they only had peanuts and pork scratchings. It was a similar problem with the drinks – of three beer engines on the bar, two were unclipped and the third had run out. Ciders fared little better, with the Thatcher’s Gold being off, leaving just Orchard Thieves. I would have expected an upmarket pub such as this in a small rural village would have made a bit of an effort to stock something local (Honey’s or Iford, perhaps?) rather than something from a global conglomerate. Overall, a pleasant old pub and friendly staff, but the lack of choice on both the food and drink fronts mean I won’t be making an effort to return anytime soon.

I stayed here for a night with my two children in the deluxe family room. It was very spacious and felt very luxurious. The food we had for dinner was delicious and a good children’s menu. The breakfast was also very tasty and was a lovely start for the day. The staff were super friendly. I would highly recommend staying here and it’s also at such a reasonable price and only 15 minutes from Bath, what’s not to love?

Just home from a fab stay at The Kings Arms. We were given an upgrade to the King's room, it is HUGE. I'd pay the extra for this room next time, though I'm sure the other rooms are beautiful too. The room was spotlessly clean, the linen beautiful and of good quality and the bed and furniture extremely comfortable. The staff were all amazing, friendly, helpful and attentive. We don't consider ourselves high maintenance guests but I get the feeling that nothing would have been too much trouble. The food. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had a beautiful meal. We opted to have our main first followed by a starter which was no trouble at all. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. Several cuts above your standard pub grub though there was a burger or fish and chips on the menu too. Breakfast was excellent. Quality food, cooked, presented and served by staff who clearly care. My husband and I rarely visit a place twice, just because we like to try new places, but have both agreed we would like to come back here.

TRADITIONAL VILLAGE PUB. BIT OFF THE BEATEN TRACK. FRIENDLY BAR STAFF. NOISY KITCHEN. FOOD WAS OKAY. WE HAD FISH & CHIPS. WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF IT HADN'T BEEN OVER COOKED. ALL IN ALL OKAY. WOULD GO THERE AGAIN.
