The first thing you’ll hear when you arrive are birds chirping. It’s like stepping into Garden of Eden. The hotel is world class in terms of architecture, amenities, service and history. The concierge is very helpful and knowledgeable, they gave me a personalised itinerary suggestions when I checked in, arranged taxis, and even made sure to check on my safety as I am a solo lady travelling in Portugal. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful retreat. It’s a perfect getaway for stressed out business travellers.

A great place for a relaxing holiday. Spacious rooms, Very nice pool in the meadow, feeling of spaciousness, freedom, along with excellent service. Nice smell of herbs in the rooms and public areas. Very pleasant shop with perfect souvenir. Good workshops.

Magical in every way. The hotel, estate, food and drink, and THE STAFF! I’ve never felt more welcomed and have made more connections with the staff like here. We did bee keeping, star gazing, walking tour tour and the jeep tour. All of the food and bev was outstanding. The staff is otherworldly. So kind and such beautiful souls. Thank you to Filipa, Fabio, Martin, Stefan, João (the legend bartender), Pedo & Caterina and everyone else we interacted with. You are incredible. In João’s words, never change! :-) We miss you already but will see you again soon. Thank you!

Everything was so perfect! I would highly recommend coming here for a few days to enjoy the area! A big thank you to Maria, the manager; she was very helpful in any questions we had and appreciated her recommendations. Bee Keeping is a must do! The whole staff was very friendly!

Working farm, vineyard. Beautiful unique accommodations. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. All rooms are on ground floor . Beautiful location and interesting pool. Can do horseback riding and bicycle. Breakfast has many traditional food and hot food. Service is excellent and courteous. Located in rural area so must bicycle or drive to town. There is a long cobblestone driveway into the estate. Really enjoyed our stay.

São Lourenço do Barrocal was a dream destination. We enjoyed ideal weather at the end of March during our stay. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped, and the spa treatments were delightful. We participated in numerous activities both on the property and in the surrounding area, including horseback riding, mountain biking, wine tastings and visiting Monsaraz. One of the favorite activities for all guests was watching the sunset each evening with a drink in hand. The breakfast was delicious, but our favorite part was dining at the restaurant every evening, which was a stellar experience (we ordered the lobster rice each time - it was that good). I do hope the restaurant will expand its wine offerings from the region, which are of a higher caliber than the property's own wines. We were surprised to see a large number of children, tweens and teens with their parents, as we had assumed schools throughout Europe and North America were still in session. They were well-behaved, but I would be reluctant to visit during high season when the property is reportedly teeming with unruly children, which could make it feel more like a summer camp than a rustic, romantic and upscale retreat. A special acknowledgment to the personnel, who were unfailingly courteous, attentive professionals and took great pride in the property and the level of service they provided. Overall, our stay at São Lourenço do Barrocal was exceptional, and we look forward to returning. This property offers a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation and adventure, making it an ideal getaway for couples and families alike.

We absolutely loved this hotel! From the minute that we booked our stay, we felt well cared for. The hotel is absolutely charming. The rooms are cozy and beautifully decorated. We booked two nights and on our morning of departure, we just wanted to stay another night. The breakfasts were delicious with extensive options and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. We will be back and will recommend this hotel to all of our friends. Definitely worth a visit!
