Kaloo Kaley what a Fraptuous Day (and night) I had at this wonderful, charming inn. Rick and Suzanne were -more- than accommodating and this house is just beautiful craftsman style. Everywhere there are touches to embellish the Lewis Caroll Theme from the names of the rooms to the ornaments and books on walls and stairs. One will find everything from the Jub Jub Bird to the White Rabbit and NO Queen of Hearts in sight. I stayed overnight a week or so ago to attend the Monterey Bay Aquarium Member's Night and I found this place looking around. I fell in love with the name and the decor as I am a HUGE fan of the Craftsman style. As a writer I wanted something that would inspire me and this was the place. I was also pleasantly surprised to find bits and bobs to acknowledge the resident writers of Monterey, Steinbeck and Lewis Stevenson respectively. Meals were very good, the appetizer I had in the evening was nice and I could walk right downtown to enjoy sushi at "Crystal Fish" which the owners themselves enjoy. The gardens of the house were gorgeous, and it was a nice little treat to see the resident deer of Monterey munching happily next to the fountain. The other guests seemed in good spirits and if I didn't have the event to go to I would have stayed and enjoyed some talk with them. Breakfast was delicious as well a sort of croissant with a sweet sauce, sausage and "Jub Juice?" (Please forgive me Suzanne I may have misremembered it.) I was also pleased to hear the story of the house and though told it twice I have the worst memory on Earth or I would regale everyone with what I know. It was a warm evening and being on the upper floors, I was very thankful for a window, and such a house cannot easily be air conditioned. My only other concern was trying to not get too hot water in the shower, but in an old house that's a given. A little nip and tuck, a tiny bit of luck and I got it going just fine. It will be my pleasure to stay there again.
