"We came to hotel NYA for our honeymoon and were very impressed by the service! By far the best hotel stay we’ve had so far, the rooms were very clean, breakfast was delicious, and staff were very kind and helpful. Every day the staff delivered a little dessert to our room free of charge, and surprised us with a honeymoon gift of a bottle of champagne and a charcuterie board with warm fresh made bread and a handmade card. We highly recommend NYA for anyone staying in Montezuma!"

"We chose Ylang Ylang for our (one year late) honeymoon and it was everything we could ever ask for. We are both vegan, so we started our search for vegan friendly resorts and countries, and Ylang Ylang fit the bill perfectly! The biggest kudos I have to give is to the staff, especially the restaurant staff. My husband and I are both kind of awkward, but they took great care of us while also interacting with us as people. We took a special liking to Franschesco and were so happy when he was our server for our private dinner the last night! But there wasn’t a single staff member that was nothing short of warm and friendly to us. We both legitimately cried at our last dinner and while packing up to check out because of how grateful we were to everyone and how peaceful our stay was. The food was also so delicious and fresh; we love to eat and were always left satisfied! We stayed in a Cabina for the first half of the trip and the Tree Top Canopy for the second half! Both rooms were so clean (we loved all the towel shapes!) and we had no issues with bugs. Yes, they are around, but you’re also partially in the jungle, and quite honestly I got much less bug bites in a week than I normally get in a single night outside in NY! It was also really nice not having a TV in the rooms. It made us spend more time out and about on the property and also made the room our relaxing place to nap in the AC, lol. The entire property is absolutely beautiful and you can tell that they take pride in their grounds as well as in their conscious effort to be environmentally friendly. Native animals roam the property not because they’re trained to or because they know they’ll get human food (although I’m sure it happens by accident sometimes), but because they feel safe in their habitat! We are huge animal lovers so we never got tired of seeing them, nor the two cute kitties that recently chose Ylang Ylang as their home :) We booked the zipline tour, Curú wildlife tour, and Cabuya sunset tour through Ylang Ylang - the front desk was always so helpful in giving information about each and we had no issues. We also booked transportation to and from Cobano airport through them. All of the tours and experiences were amazing as well and we need to come back to do the other ones as well as experience the spa and yoga :) the prices really don’t differ too much from booking directly through the partner providers, so it was nice to just be able to do it all in one place. The town is also super safe and we got to experience some local events since it was Mother’s Day during our trip! This was our first time in Costa Rica (also our first actual relaxing vacation together after almost 8 years) and we are already trying to plan when we can come back. We miss everyone already!!!"

"This place was such a pleasant surprise. We travelled all over Costa Rica, and while this certainly isn’t the most luxurious place you’ll stay in, it definitely has wonderful service and an overall great vibe. The owner is amazing, and was super helpful for us in getting back into town with our luggage to catch the ferry back. Speaking of which - if you’re walking from the town up the hill it’s a very steep walk, so be prepared! Excellent proximity to the waterfall with your own special entrance, your own private hanging bridge, and a fantastic brewery right next to the property to walk to. Overall, we’d happily stay here again!"

"I am really glad we had such a friendly lady at the check in. After we realized we booked something that doesnt meet our current needs, she contacted the owner and we could cancel our stay even tough there was a non refund policy for our booking. There was nothing wrong with the place, everything was clean etc. But we realized we need more space and a place that is more secluded. Thanks a lot for the goodwill, it makes a big difference in our travelexperience🫶"

"This place is truly special. Howler and capuchin monkeys played in the trees just outside our deck. The views from the rooftop terrace of the ocean, sunrise/sunset and nearby thunderstorms were breathtaking. We bought fresh marlin from a local and made fresh ceviche in our well stocked kitchen. Alex (the caretaker) takes immaculate care of this beautiful property and his guests. Simply put, this was paradise to us. "

"We spent 3 nights, Saturday-Tuesday at El Sano Banano in downtown Montezuma. The hotel was conveniently located steps to the beach and on the downtown strip, next to a market and many restaurants. We saw a few different lizards in the outdoor dining area. The in-house restaurant and bar served Tipico style Costa Rican cuisine. The included breakfast was a sit down service with tipico rice and beans, eggs, pancakes, toast, coffee. There was no availability of self serve coffee. We stayed in a room with a window overlooking the street vendors and park. There was one full size bed and one twin on the opposite side. The mattresses, linens and pillows were tolerable. There was an AC wall unit but no window or ventilation, or balcony. Our wet clothes never dried completely. There was a private bathroom with shower with hot water, toilet. The decor of the space was beachy, colorful and quirky, I liked it. Due to the proximity to the downtown area and thin walls we could hear the music and bass from the discotheque all of Saturday night. If you’re planning on staying throughout a weekend, I’d highly recommend bringing earplugs/noise cancellers. Overall it was a pretty good stay but we’d probably consider staying somewhere off of the main street when we visit Montezuma next time. Recommendations for the hotel: -self serve coffee station -more comfortable bedding/pillows -warning about street noise, sale/availability of earplugs -more friendly staff"

"Big number of cockroaches in our room. We let the front desk know, and they did absolutely NOTHING. So we had to spend two nights with cockroaches running around our walls and ceiling. Moreover, nobody was present at the front desk at anytime, the only way to contact the property was sending a Whatsapp message that they would reply within several hours. Restrooms needed s deep cleaning and the hotel is severely understaffed. Very bad experience."
