ROOM: The rooms at this hotel are pure luxury, with every detail meticulously thought out to ensure a perfect stay. From the high-quality furnishings to the elegant decor, everything exudes sophistication and comfort. The spacious terrace that comes with the room offers a breathtaking panoramic view that is simply mesmerizing. I highly recommend taking some time to soak in the scenery—the view constantly changes with the movement of the clouds and the morning mist, making every moment unique and unforgettable. This is truly a place where luxury meets nature, offering a serene and beautiful escape. FOOD, DRINK: The breakfast was a highlight, featuring fresh fruit press, homemade jams, and the unforgettable house-made pistachio cream. The hotel’s cuisine leans towards Austrian flavors, offering a delightful break from typical Italian dishes. I highly recommend trying the Hay (Heuschnaps) and the Cirmolo (Zirben) liqueur, and the homemade jams, which you can even purchase at the hotel, so you can take a little piece of this wonderful place home with you. OUTDOOR: For those who love outdoor activities, this hotel is perfectly located. I highly recommend it to hikers, as there are numerous trails nearby that offer stunning natural scenery. The nearby lakes are also a must-visit, providing a serene and picturesque setting. Cyclists will be thrilled with the extensive network of bike paths in the area for mtb and roadbike as well. There here are even options to rent bicycles locally. We personally tried several chairlifts, which offered breathtaking views of the mountains, as well as bob and cycling. In the winter, this place turns into a paradise for skiers, with excellent skiing opportunities just a short distance away. Whether you're looking to explore the great outdoors in summer or hit the slopes in winter, this location has it all! The STAFF went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. I can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to return!"

"This hotel is located in the mountains and is a good stopover. You can go hiking nearby as soon as you wake up. There's a parking lot outside, and the breakfast is pretty good with a decent variety. However, it can be a bit noisy in the mornings due to a lot of traffic outside. The showerhead was a bit faulty, and the shower door was also broken. The value for money is alright, and it's fine for a 1-2 night stay."

"We love this hotel. It's a beautiful old building in the middle of San Candido. It's immaculately kept. The food is outstanding, the best hotel food we've had consistently over a holiday stay. The staff in the restaurant (Christina!) are just fantastic. And the wine selection would please the most demanding wine lover. The rooms seem to be all pretty individual, they're all immaculate and common areas are well maintained. There is a small spa area on the top of the hotel with stunning views. It's pretty small but suited our needs. (There is a municipal pool in the town.) I've only stayed on the 1st floor (i did ask for a higher room this time, maybe next time.) But noise is minimal. We went skiing in February, and whilst we wouldn't return to ski (it's quite limited after a few days), we came back to do some walking at the end of September. It's a lovely area. Great shops and mooching about. Cafes etc. We were disappointed as we thought that walking information would be more easily available. We bought lift passes at the base of the Baranci lift (this would be amazing for kids learning to ski) and it wasn't mentioned that all the walks at the top of the lift were closed due to logging. Which was pretty bad. We explored other cable cars with a mountain pass and Monte Elmo was great. On the last day of our stay there was a tour of Ferraris that came through, loads of amazing cars, but this wasn't advertised anywhere. Which was a shame as my husband missed it. I think there is a lot more going on here but you have to be quite determined to find out what. There seems to a gourmet weekend in October I might aim for next year. But a few days at this family's hotel are just what you need to recharge and unwind. We will be back."
