Mountain View Hotels in Lake Tekapo

Stayed one night in Tekapo, and check-in was a breeze, no issues at all. You can literally see the stars right from the doorstep, no need to even bother going to the Church of the Good Shepherd, it was absolutely amazing! The guesthouse is relatively new and well-equipped; the fridge worked great. The only minor downsides were the soundproofing, which wasn't the best – I could hear people talking in the next-door bathroom from my own. Also, since I visited in New Zealand's winter, the air conditioning's heating wasn't very powerful, and the room only got to a maximum of 20℃.

This apartment is the most satisfying place on this trip. It can be said to be amazing. First of all, all the equipment is available, just like going home. Then the apartment is incredibly large. The living room and kitchen are so big that you can do somersaults. The equipment is very new and clean. The kitchen is equipped with all possible supplies. The scenery here is also great. You can see the lake from the living room. There are two super large balconies. Our family of three lives in two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a small farm not far away where you can pet animals. It takes only a few minutes to drive to the town center. In short, everything is perfect, but it’s a pity that we only stayed for one night. Facilities: Everything is available. The first thing we did when we arrived was to wash and dry clothes. It’s so convenient. The heating is also super comfortable, the bathroom is brand new and clean, the kitchen appliances are very complete, and there is free milk. A highly recommended B&B in Lake Tekapo. The house is clean, tidy and very new. It has all kinds of facilities. The kitchen is very complete. There are three bathrooms that are easy to use. The bed is very comfortable. Two of the rooms have unrivaled mountain views from the windows. Highly recommended. You can play in the snow right outside the door. The price/performance ratio is super high, which is great.

The apartment is quite a distance away from the town centre, especially if you do not have a vehicle, do note that there is no uber in Lake Tekapo, I recommend hiring a taxi (NZD $30) per trip. Although it’s a hefty amount, it will save you a huge effort especially if you do not have a vehicle! But i won’t recommend staying here if you do not have a vehicle! Room is nice, clean!

The house is spacious and the environment is very nice. It's great for staying with friends, as there's a kitchen to cook in, just like being at home. Plus, parking is free and the kitchenware is well-stocked. Overall, it's excellent.

We stayed in Tekapo for two days to stargaze and visit Mount Cook, and chose to stay at Godley. Overall, it was a great experience! 👍 The location is fantastic; it's right by the lake, and our room offered lovely lake and mountain views. The Church of the Good Shepherd is also just a stone's throw away. There's a large supermarket within a few minutes' walk, and both the Intercity bus stop and the stargazing shuttle are conveniently located nearby. The room was quite spacious and had heating, which made it wonderfully warm at night. On our first day, the front desk even invited us to the hotel's evening concert, which was a very thoughtful touch, though we couldn't make it due to a schedule conflict. If I ever get the chance to return to this charming town, I'd definitely consider staying here again.

We are couple with a 5 year old girl. We paid SGD697.85 (Singapore dollar) for staying 2 nights in this “2 bedroom apartment” as stated. 3 points here to explain the terrible experience. 1. tv remote is not working. I don’t mind the owner making excuse like “ replied customer’s message within 20mins…..” but they actually took 29mins to reply (19:10 till 19:39). In fact, they didn’t manage to change the tv remote in the end. So I stayed 2 nights without using the TV! 2.there is no clear and obvious description that this “2 bedroom apartment” is actually an adjoining unit which means when u walked into the front door then there are 2 doors link to split parts of the apartment. The problem of adjoining units are thin walls are used to split the apartment into 2 small units. When u stay in this kind of apartment, u have to endure all kind of noises from whoever staying in neighboring rooms. We had 2 days enduring guesting from the other room shouting, slamming the door, kids screaming like crazy both early in the morning and afternoon! 3. When I reflect this bad experience with trip.com customer service, this hotel responded like they have no fault at all and played with words. This attitude makes us feel like being fooled. We paid money to expect to stay in an apartment with privacy and quiet environment but indeed we had such a bad experience! In this market, if it’s an adjoining unit, they should not charge at the rate as if it’s an entire apartment. I’m alright that they rejected to refund the extra amount they charged. Just have to reflect the facts in the review. Thanks.

Nice stay, comfy beds and good kitchen. Toaster was missing and bowl but apart from that, everything you´d need

This was the best homestay experience on our New Zealand trip. The room was spacious, the amenities were excellent, and the kitchen was fully stocked. I especially recommend trying the coffee from the tea bags – it's delicious. Overall, it felt very much like home. The outdoor area was a real highlight, offering distant views of Lake Tekapo, and the stargazing at night was absolutely stunning – a sky full of stars, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The only regret is that we only booked one night; we wanted to stay a second but it was already fully booked. I highly recommend staying here, just make sure to book well in advance!

Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it was definitely the worst place we stayed during our New Zealand trip. Tekapo is super popular, and even booking four months in advance for over a thousand dollars a night, this was the best we could get. If possible, book half a year ahead during the off-peak season. This property is a whole holiday home divided into three apartments (A, B, C) for rent. Apartment A faces the lake, which is more like a small pond, but it does have ducks and wild rabbits. The view is pretty average by New Zealand standards. It's also a 15-20 minute walk to the town center's Four Square supermarket, which can be tiring if you have a lot of luggage and no car. The soundproofing in the room is really bad; we had noisy neighbors all night. The most ridiculous thing is that there isn't a single usable table or chair inside the room. The only option is the outdoor patio furniture, but it was raining when we were there, so we couldn't use it anyway. Plus, the neighbors' kids were ill-mannered and stepped all over it, so I doubt anyone would want to eat there. Even more outrageous, the water pressure in the bathroom was almost nonexistent. You'd get better pressure from a garden hose! The bathroom itself is quite spacious, but that's pointless. The Wi-Fi is shared among the three apartments, and you have to stand in a specific spot in the room to get a good connection. Customer service communication is old-school email, but at least they reply once a day. The most chilling part was on check-out day: the key safe outside had been tampered with; someone had pressed the code. I distinctly remember scrambling the numbers. Oh well, luckily there was no key inside. If you can accept all these points, then this room is perfect for you.
