"The hotel was pleasant. The rooms weren't very large, and there were only one power outlet. We had trouble finding a place to store our suitcases. It was clean and serviced daily. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly. The view from the room was beautiful. The dining room was a bit of an uphill climb up a flight of stairs."

📍 Barbati, Mparmpati

"This is hopefully a fair review and I hope the owners take note of the things myself and other guests have said as this place could be really amazing, especially with the location being perfect so close to the bus stops, beach and several great restaurants and coffee shops. The employees seem to work very hard and long shifts, however there simply weren’t enough staff to cope with the number of guests. Room: Mould in bathroom/ drawer under sink and a large buildup of limescale and rust on the shower. Daily bedroom “clean” is just the beds being remade, towels replaced and floor swept, no amenities like toilet roll or handsoap are replenished and the sink/bathroom are not cleaned as you would expect. We had to request more toilet paper from the front desk. Two days we were left without hand towels. TV in the room didn’t work the entire time, we over heard other guests saying theirs didn’t work either. The food/dining: Plates at the buffet are always so wet you can pour the water off. Several times we had to wait for plates and cutlery to be available. The glasses were very watermarked and so gave the look of being dirty. Eating outside would be lovely, if not for the wasps. Could the hotel invest in some citronella to try to deter the wasps from people eating? For the food itself, we always found options we wanted to eat and were ok. Some items could be on the cold side. The water from the taps wasn’t to our taste so we purchased a lot of bottles from the gift shop. Entertainment: The WiFi doesn’t reach all rooms, we could only access WiFi in the main communal areas of the hotel. The night entertainment singers are varied and good, however they are outside by the pool and therefore are very loud and heard from our room which is disruptive if you were wanting to sleep before 11pm, which when you’ve got up at 3:30am for your flight that day is more desirable than listening to some incredibly loud music."

📍 Glyfa beach, Nisaki 490 83, Mparmpati

"We liked the room a lot. It was a two-storey one-bedroom apartment. On the ground floor there was a living room with kitchen, dining table and a guest bathroom. On the first floor there was a bedroom with the bathroom. There were big balconies on each floor as well. Everything was new and pretty. The beach was 1 min walk down the hill. The owner was very nice and friendly. The pool was also very good and clean. There were not many guests in the hotel so it was also very quiet. Everything was great! The only disadvantage was that the grocery store and restaurants were appr. 20 min walk away. So if you are w/o a car it might be quite far. However, there is a very nice taverna right near the hotel."

"We ended up moving hotels half way through our holiday to the Ionian crown and it was everything we wanted and more! We had our 6 month old son with us who loved his stay. The hotel is lovely and the beach and restaurant is where we spent most of our time. The team working were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Made us feel very welcome. The food in the restaurant is also amazing. We can’t wait to be back next year! Thank you everyone"

"The restaurant and bar staff are lovely but that still does not make up for the state of the room. The pictures of the Superior Room on the hotel website are misleading. The pictures attached show the grim reality of their Superior Rooms. I spoke to the front desk who told me that "yes, your room is superior but all rooms are different" Luckily we were just staying for 2 nights. Add to this: • no hot water on both days (front desk said the water situation impacted everyone as if she thought that made us feel better • tiny bathroom • no sound proofing in the room. It's possible to hear everything in the adjoining room • clothes storage that was just an open shelf unit • no extra bed (we didn’t need one but the website said it had one” • standard domestic fridge in the room that made a racket • no tea / coffee making facilities (well, unless you consider three packets of Green Tea (nothing else) to nail that feature) The room was tired. The one piece of furniture was cracked and splitting where the cheap MDF material had got damp. We strongly believe it is the worst hotel bedroom we have ever experienced. But as I said at the start. The restaurant team and bar team were delightful."

📍 BARBATI, Mparmpati

"I went there for 2 weeks during October combining business and some relaxing moments. First of all I love the area. It has some nice restaurants, beach bars, clean beaches and crystal waters, mini market and bakery all very close, no more than 3 minutes walking distance. The apartment had a separate bedroom, bathroom with shower and living room with open plan kitchen. Everything you need is there. Kitchen fully equipped with all appliances, a real size oven with stove, fridge, washing machine, espresso and filter coffee machine, microwave and many many more. A comfortable bed and 2 TVs, one in the living room and one in bedroom. The space was very clean and cozy. There is also a private car parking space. But the best part for me was the large terrace with stunning nature views. It was quiet this time of the year but not secluded. There is an uphill climb to the main road, but a car is recommended to explore the island. I will definitely go back"

Nautilus Barbati ★★★
"An excellent small hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The food was good with a brilliant selection of salads to help yourself to. The pool spotlessly clean as were the rooms. Ok, the rooms are basic but perfectly adequate and do have a TV, fridge and AC (extra cost but worth it) with small but nice clean bathroom and decent shower. They also have a balcony, ours had a sea view too. We were far too busy enjoying the pool, swimming from the decking and generally enjoying the hotel hospitality to do anything other than shower and sleep in the room. Location was ideal too with a bus stop directly outside the hotel so easy to venture out. We took a trip north on the bus costing a couple of pounds, it was like being on a scenic tour - we could even see across to Albania. You do need to be pretty mobile to hike back up from the water and the rooms are built on the hill side so probably not suitable if you have difficulty walking or breathing problems. My daughter and I enjoyed our June 2023 trip so much she has returned in September 2023 with her partner. She reports the staff remembering her and has an even better room with full sea view in the lower accommodation. I'm currently looking into when I can return. If you want a laid back no hassle holiday this is the place!"

Golden Mare - All Inclusive ★★★★
"A thoroughly strange experience - beautiful location and some really saintly staff in what must be very trying circumstances, but standards have slipped at this hotel and it seemed to be teetering on the edge of insolvency. It looks like it used to be luxurious or at least aspired to be so, but is just not managed well and appears to run on a shoestring budget which is inadequate for the 4-star rating. However we walked further up the hill one night and found a whole set of new apartments with the hotel logo and a swimming pool with building/finishing in progress. Just added to the puzzle. Our first room was disappointing - while exploring the small space I opened the bathroom drawer and it fell on my foot, containing the towel rail which belonged on the opposite wall. There was mould on the walls (poorly painted over) and my son's duvet had bloodstains on it. The exterior walls could have done with several coats of paint and garden areas badly needed some basic weeding and pruning. TV was not working despite my husband's finest ministrations (no functioning tv in the hotel - the front desk said they had a problem with the supplier, but we did suspect this to be the sort of problem which might be solved by subscription payment). We enlightened the cheery reservations manager as to our main issues and although she hilariously informed us that our first room had already been an upgrade (God help those in the basic level!) she moved us to a bigger room with a fabulous sea view, high up on the hill, which was ideal. Apart from no shower gel or dispenser - which proved, over the next couple of days, impossible to supply and the last straw for my husband, who was driven to expressing himself very clearly at the front desk and extracted three tiny samples for the family's week. I will say that regular human drama and despair at the front desk was our main daytime source of entertainment (in the absence of a tv). Housekeeping was a bit intermittent - one day we found beautifully concertina-ed clean towels on our bed but they were still very damp. The food was not terrible, just unimaginative / lacking seasoning or spice, with some cheap cuts, odd combinations and a shortage of Greek staples such as olives, stuffed vine leaves, halloumi, tzatziki, houmous and baklava. I overheard one of the other guests describing unhappily how she had found chunks of burger in the curry, which was described as chicken. When she asked the chef why there were burgers in the 'chicken' curry, he explained they had run out of chicken. Desserts were avoidable (a 'gateau' and three colours of ice cream - all flavourless). The coffee was nothing short of atrocious, propelling us out of the hotel every morning in search of an antidote in a couple of local cafes. Evening entertainment was entirely excellent on every night (well done entertainment manager!) albeit served alongside dubious cocktails for which the lovely bartender did his creative best with few of the standard al"

Glyfa Corfu Apartments ★★★
"Our family of four (two adults and two teenagers) are in the middle of our holiday in Corfu and I wanted to say how great it is that we chose Glyfa Apartments. The apartment is two -storey, two bedroom, two bathroom with a sitting room and kitchen on the ground floor. Both floors have balconies and the whole place feels spacious and light. The owner is very friendly and helpful and arrived immediately when we called asking or an extra key. The location is a great base for exploring the little towns and beaches to the north and there is also the wonderful Glyfa Taverna next door which I really do think is some of the best food I have tasted in Greece. The great staff there make everyone feel welcome."

"Everything was OK except one thing. This hotel is absolutely NOT suitable for anyone, of any age, with mobility issues. Do not stay here; very steep paths, steps and no lift. In the heat it’s very unpleasant. Nice hotel, shame about it clinging to the foot of a mountain."
