It was good that it was close to the central station. I was worried about the security, but I don't think I needed to worry too much. The room was not large, but stylish, and the facilities such as Nespresso capsule coffee were good.

Since I like to go on city tours, I like to stay in smaller or visually appealing accommodations. The name of the “Maison Schiller by Design City Hotels” also promises a design-filled stay. LOCATION: The location of the hotel is right in the city center or more precisely 5 minutes from the main train station. On the one hand, this is positive, as you can get to the city very quickly, but it also has negative sides: due to the proximity to the train station, the area is rather "drug-contaminated". In addition to table dance facilities, you can also find "beggars" or people who are "too drunk" every few meters... ARRIVAL: My arrival took place on a rainy day and I once again missed the check-in time of 3 p.m. Fortunately, the receptionist assigned me the room at 12:30 p.m.... VERY GOOD... Overall, the reception is kept rather small and visually also rather simple. ROOM: Since I booked a single room, I knew in advance that the room would be around 12 square meters small. The first impression is that it seems a little smaller than 12 square meters (subjective) due to the furniture. Next to the single bed there is a Nespresso machine with four capsules and a welcome water bottle in the room. Unfortunately the Nespresso machine was defective and didn't work. Even if you take a closer look, you can see some shortcomings in the room. The room itself is very dark and in my opinion there is no additional ceiling light. The hotel operator has remedied this with a parking light, which also no longer seems to be completely stable (wobbles a lot). But now to my biggest point of criticism and that is the very poorly insulated windows. Firstly, on days when the bed is cold, you notice a “cold draft” despite the windows and curtains being closed, which sometimes seems unpleasant due to the positioning of the bed. Furthermore, the window faces a not particularly nice looking backyard with the fire escape, which is equipped with a background noise that lasts until almost midnight. Because the windows are not insulated, you think you are standing in the middle of the hustle and bustle at this time... VERY BAD…. Here are my room criticisms: 1) Toilet was poorly cleaned (traces of previous user still visible) 2) Shaky parking light (doesn't seem “high quality” but rather cheap) 3) Non-insulated windows (clear draft noticeable) 4) Very loud and ugly backyard (dumpster) 5) Layer of dust on the water siphon (room cleaning?) 6) Broken coffee machine 7) Shaky reading light on the bed (quality?) 8) Quite loud ventilation in the room FRIENDLINESS: Some employees struck me as more “neutral” compared to other hotels. Greetings when entering the lobby (if I can call them that) seem more “repellent” than really “friendly” (in about 75%)... It's a shame because you don't really feel comfortable and welcome in this hotel... That CAN BE BETTER…. DEALING WITH CRITICISM: After checking out, I was asked if everything was okay, when I mentioned that I was not satisfied, the reason was not asked further... It seemed to me that there was no interest in how and what could be done better. Therefore, in my opinion, the question could have been avoided. CONCLUSION: All in all, I have to say you don't get enough for a “normal” price for a single room, which is around 80-125 euros (as of the end of October 2023). I have to say that the hotel has potential, but at the moment it looks more like “more appearance than reality” to me. Many points still need to be worked on in order to be considered a real “design hotel”. VERDICT: In my opinion, the single room is not recommended because I noticed too many negative aspects here... Unfortunately only 2 stars from my side...

Maison Schiller was one of several hotels we reviewed for our short stay in Munich as we were looking for proximity to the main railway station as a prerequisite. Maison had decent reviews on TA and on Booking so we opted for it. The hotel turned out to be fine and adequate in meeting our requirements give the budget we wanted to spend. Is it a great hotel - no, is it a decent hotel yes. There were a few short comings to the hotel and room, - room on the small side, - bed wrongly oriented with access only on one side (against a wall) and not facing the wall mounted TV, - limited space and storage, - limited product (toiletries - soap/shampoo combined nothing else), - only one small elevator (working - spiral stairs not suitable), Some things were good; - good aircon (well received and appreciated in the hot weather), - window over street able to be opened for fresh air, - daily room servicing, - 24hr reception, - daily breakfast available for pretty reasonable price. The reviews for this hotel and many nearby make mention of the local area or surrounds and they are well worth heeding. The area on this side of the train station is very buzzy, vibrant and bustling from around 9am to very late. There are quite a lot of late night venues and adult only XXX type establishments nearby and across from the hotel (wasn't an issue). The area is significantly culturally diverse and possibly not what travellers might be anticipating when visiting Germany's second city, so could be a bit of a shock for some. We were a little bit cautious on first impressions but quickly noted there seemed to be a rythem and cadence to the area, lots of street front fruit and veg stores, variety of restaurants etc. We never felt uncomfortable, vulnerable or threaten at any time and our interactions for the most part were all very nice. We did encounter quite a noticeable number of persons asking for money etc but this was quite common throughout the places we visited in Germany. The reception manager Said was very polite, professional and interested and we found this with the other staff we spoke with. Said was very helpful in securing our bags until official check in at 3pm. Overall we had a pleasant stay at Maison - as stated its not the greatest hotel but also quite decent and reasonably good value for the cost. NB: listing show the hotel has a shuttle service to the Airport - this is not entirely correct, we enquired about this and were given a fixed price of 120 euro for up to 5 persons and luggage, to my way of thinking this is a town or hire car price for this service and not the usual minibus/bus hotel pick-up you would normally get for about 20euro/dollars. (more than a taxi price 90-100 and uber 75-90 euro). We opted to walk down to the otherside of the railway station and catch the Lufthansa Airport Express bus for 13p/p - efficient service runs about every 20mins. Definitely worth having a look at if wishing to stay in this location (plenty o

Very nice hotel with friendly and service minded people. There were some noise, mainly from sirens in the nighttime which were disturbing. Otherwise very pleasant. Very good location near the train station and Karlsplatz.

Lovely hotel, smart design, but you might end up with a room with a window looking at a wall, with almost no natural light. Staff were really helpful, and tried to look for another room for me - but couldn't find one. Advertised room had a balcony in the photo.... but they said they only have 2 like this. OK, a balcony wasn't listed in the text. But a room with no view at all, only a fiire escape, and nearly no natural light isn't OK. I think it is just a few rooms that look onto a light well/fire escape down the centre of the bulding (see photo). So many other things are great about this hotel, which is why my review isn't awful - they just need to move these few rooms to a different price/advert category. I felt cheated....

Please, change your pillows! The one you have are head torture. The staff is friendly. The rooms are tiny but cozy. The location is excellent, wi-fi is good. Just, please, stop torturing your guests while they try to sleep. I hope you will read my request and implement normal pillows! I want to stay at your hotel if you make this tiny but very important change.

This is the second time I've stayed at Maison Schiller - the first time was in December 2022. The hotel is in a really central location which has the bustling nature of being near a main railway station in any big city. The staff are super friendly - from the reception team (who are all, without exception, absolutely lovely) to the room cleaning team (smiley, warm and helpful). The rooms are super clean and I love the design (amazing wallpapers!). It's easy to get to everywhere in Munich from here. The second time we stayed, we were put in a slightly smaller (but still really nice) room than the first time and I needed a bit more space to work in. They were fully booked on the first night but they moved us to a bigger room with a desk area as soon as they could the next morning. This was really appreciated by us as I had two job interviews over video calls that afternoon and my partner also had to do some meeting preparation that morning. I really recommend this place and we will definitely be back as my partner comes to Munich every few months for work meetings. A huge thank you to the whole team there :-)

A pretty hotel with medium-sized rooms and nice shower rooms, near the main station. We would stay again. As in other German hotels they give you tiny individual duvets, which are a pain but that's a cultural thing, I believe. All in all, we would stay here again.

I FEEL CHEATED!! The first picture on the hotel website of the "lobby" with all the fancy stairways doesn't exist in this hotel. The picture is in fact of the District Court Munich!!!! Surely this is false and misleading advertising. The rooms are OK and it is an affordable hotel (for Munich), BUT it is also more expensive than I would have expected to pay given the reality of the hotel. I chose to spend double the price per night to stay here as a birthday surprise for my partner, based on the images on the hotel website and the reality was very disappointing. All the staff are friendly. Room service is done timely and well. EDIT: It seems that they have since removed the image of the lobby staircase of the District Court Munich from the main website, though it is still up on Trip Advisor!! (Too late for some of us!)

The hotel was ok but not up to the prices they’re charging. The elevator did not work for the duration of our stay (4 nights). We were not warned about it until after we were given a room on the 3rd floor. Getting up there using the twisted wooden stairs proved to be very unpleasant. At checkout we were offered a complimentary breakfast (hahaha), perhaps knowing that we’re were already off to the airport with all of our luggage and obviously we’d not have time for breakfast. Of course we couldn’t take advantage of it. And last but not least - this neighborhood is dodgy. It feels like the Middle East. The only advantage I could think of is the relative proximity to the Octoberfest venue… Avoid this place!

On the positive side, the hotel itself is nice, rooms were modern and clean. Easy walk from the main train station and to Oktoberfest. Breakfast was alright and the guy working on breakfast was friendly. Sadly the housekeeping service wasn’t great, coffee not replenished and towels not changed. We could hear a lot of noise from both inside and outside at night which gave us a couple of nights with not great sleep. Not sure if it was returnees from Oktoberfest or those leaving the many ***** clubs on the street opposite the hotel! The lift was out of order for a couple of days making the walk up to the top/5th floor of the building hard work. We were offered help to come down with our luggage on check out but the person didn’t arrive on time so we took our own luggage down instead. Attention to detail could be improved and possibly more staff needed.

Lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and allowed us to leave our baggage at reception after checking out on the day we left since our flight was not until the evening. Great location for walking to the centre of Munich and the room was an excellent price.
