The hotel is not really a 3 star, but a 4.5 in disguise. It is authentic and welcoming. Has a great pool and spa. The owner, who works each day serving customers, is welcoming and amendable. The food is superb, locally sourced and cooked in house. The rooms are huge airy, clean well equipped with wonderful balconies. It is my go to hotel in Mittenwald.

We had a lovely stay. The staff is over the top. Our room was impeccable after cleaning service. So convenient to everything. Grocery store was conveniently across the street. Pool was wonderful. Sauna area could be a little cleaner but wonderful and relaxing just the same.

Mittenwald in the mid Winter is a magical place and Hotel Rieger is a great place to stay. Friendly and efficient service, well appointed rooms, Bitburger Pils on draft and a good breakfast. Had a junior suite, at the back of the hotel, very quiet.

We found Alpenhotel Rieger on the day we arrived in Mittenwald and were happy to find they had vacancies. Little did we know how attentive they are to their guests and their willingness to go above and beyond to make us feel welcome. My daughter's birthday was the next morning so my wife just casually asked if they happened to have a birthday candle we could put in a pastry at breakfast. After looking around they regretfully said they didn't have any. No big deal...we just said we could buy some at the nearby grocery store. The next morning we came down for breakfast and sat down, but were told our table was in the corner. There we found a reserved table decorated for my daughter's birthday...pleasant surprise! And the breakfast buffet was excellent by the way. Really appreciate the rooms, the food, location and especially the service at this hotel. Mittenwald is a beautiful, quaint Bavarian village. Highly recommend you visit this town and this hotel.

In the booking it was stated that the room of type
Economy include - Double Room, 1 Queen Bed, Balcony
In practice, the hotel claimed that an Economy type reservation does not include a balcony and I did not receive a room with a balcony. It's a shame because it spoiled the experience of staying at the place.
