A group of 8 friends just returned from Rwanda and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tiloreza Ecolodge. We had an amazing day trekking to see the gorillas and it was so nice to come back to a homey lodge with good food and attentive service by all the staff members. As a travel planner, I try to make note of the details in my stays so I know whether to recommend it or not. I would highly recommend Tiloreza when visiting the Volcanoes National Park area of Rwanda.

We spent 2 nights at Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge, which was our base for gorilla trekking, and it was an amazing experience. The lodge is beautifully surrounded by nature, giving you a real sense of peace and connection with the environment. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. Knowing my food restrictions, they personally checked with me to make sure every meal was enjoyable. When we forgot a raincoat, they promptly offered us one—small gestures like that make a huge difference. On our second night, we were treated to a traditional dance show that lasted at least 45 minutes—the energy and talent of the performers were unforgettable. Everything about this stay was excellent.

This Lodge was great. The room was comfortable and clean. Staff very helpful, kind and attentive. Food was all delicious. Location is great for trekking, just a short car ride. Lots of little things to do here, they have books, board games, chess board and croquet outside. The pool looked lovely, unfortunately it rained quite a bit when we were here so we couldn't use it. The hotel staff provided gaiters to prevent mud getting up your legs when hiking and then very kindly cleaned our hiking boots after the hikes. This was immensely helpful for how muddy we got. We would definitely recommend this lodge. I LOVED the hot water bottles that they put in our bed for the night! Great touch. My husband was very happy as was able to watch the football by the bar both days, the staff very kindly changed the channel for all the matches he wanted to watch.

We stayed at Tiloreza Ecolodge for two nights as the starting place for our Volcanoes National Park Gorilla trek. We booked the hotel and they took care of reserving the gorilla trek certificates, transportation to and from the Kigali airport and transportation to the park the morning of our trek. They even gave us gaiters for our trek and cleaned our boots afterwards! The food was delicious and made to order. The rooms are cute with a jungle-like patio. The staff treated us like family. We really enjoyed our stay. It’s not “luxurious” but it was fantastic, authentic, and comfortable. The owner happened to be there during our stay and we enjoyed meeting him.

A great place to stay as a home base for visiting the National Park. Clean, comfortable rooms, with nightly hot-water-bottle turn-down! As a further creature comfort, washing and drying our very muddy shoes each night was highly appreciated, and the loaner gaiters were KEY! The meals were delicious, and we really appreciated the options for hot breakfast each day before setting out! The menu for all meals varied from day-to-day, which was nice! We really appreciated having a talk by one of the Park Rangers the night before our gorilla trek, which helped us feel prepared, calm, and even more excited about the visit.

This hotel was a dream - an absolutely must stay during your time in Rwanda. We stayed here when we were in Volcanoes National Park for our gorilla trekking, and I do not think we have ever stayed at a hotel that has offered better and more complete customer service. I know it is tempting to pack your time here with all of the Volcanoes activities, but give yourself some time to stay at the hotel and enjoy the amenities like the pool and the spa (and the amazing hospitality and service). We received an upgrade in our room upon arrival, had the most wonderful massages at the spa, and had excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner service for every meal. The hotel also offers laundry service and complimentary cleaning of your boots after gorilla trekking, which was just above and beyond and exactly what we needed. This hotel is also where we discovered Akabanga hot sauce - which is Rwanda's own chile oil sauce - and it is our new favorite hot sauce - you absolutely must try it in Rwanda. We bought some there and continue to buy it on Amazon now that we are home. We booked this Tiloreza and our gorilla trekking through Jelani Travel and would highly recommend reaching out to Ashley to assist with your trip.

Just checked out today after 2 wonderful nights here. The property is beautiful. But the staff is what makes the place amazing. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. It was chilly the nights we stayed and we were surprised to come back from dinner and find 2 hot water bottles under the covers to warm the bed, very appreciated. We did 2 days of trekking and gaiters are provided here, which was nice. They also cleaned our hiking boots each day and they looked like new when they were done. After our first day of trekking we came back with very dirty rain pants, they even cleaned those. In addition to drying my husband’s rain jacket. I’m not sure we will ever make it back to visit Rwanda but if we do, we’d definitely stay here again, probably making it a 3 night stay next time. Thank you to all the amazing staff that made our trip wonderful.
