Planet Hollywood Costa Rica by Royalton, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort

Just returned from our stay at the Planet Hollywood and have mixed feelings.  There were some excellent aspects… but also a few areas for improvement!  Let’s start with the good stuff: Edu (bartender at the lobby bar) was a STAR.  Trust him to make your drinks, just tell him the flavor or preference for liquor) and he will spin you up something completely magical!! We LOVED spending our nights sitting at the bar watching Edu make peoples evenings.  We also loved the included watersports like paddleboarding and kayaking ( unfortunately the big water tricycle was out of order).  The Fuel Coffee bar is also a fabulous addition and great place to escape the heat for a cold coffee.  Now, the negatives - the front desk staff was pretty subpar and didn’t seem to communicate very well - one girl was actually very rude when I was trying to sort out a room situation and I wish I got her name.  The pool drinks are SO bad.  Not sure what type of bottom shelf alcohol they use at pool bar, but we tried so many different drinks and they were all disgusting.  The only thing somewhat drinkable was the Mojito.  I ended up switching to non-alcoholic drinks after day 1 and they were much better at the pool.  Did my real drinking at the lobby bar with Edu in the evenings.  Otherwise, the room was clean - resort was nice and entertainment was entertaining.  The food was decent but the buffet was SO hot and humid without any air conditioning. Overall, this was far from the best all inclusive experience I’ve had, but, we still made the most of it and had a nice time.

Everything was good,the room was beautiful and the food was really good.If you want to go to one place and stay this is a great place.

The entire hotel is well designed with attention to details. Welcoming new guests with clap and drinks is a very nice touch! There are at least 6 bars. My favorite is the coffee shop Fuel. The staff is amazing. From servers to the entertainment team to the night shows’ team to the lobby folks. All were very pleasant and welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel 👍

The hotel itself was nice. The AC and shower were 10/10! It definitely helped after long, hot days by the pool or after excursions. The Star Class had its own pool which was nice and less crowded, and had its own 'lounge' in the main building for drinks and snacks. The pool area was ok but since it was the only one, it was always very crowded. The biggest issues were with the restaurants. There were 9 restaurants on property, but unless you made reservations the first day, you most likely weren't getting in to any of them. And while they were there, most didn't open until dinner, so for breakfast and lunch, you only had 2-3 options. The food itself was fine. There were definitely some bright spots (spring rolls at East Sushi!), most of it was just eh. It was probably best just to get pool food or bar food because at least then you know what you were getting. Housekeeping was hit and miss. We often (almost daily) had to call them for towels or soap even if the room was cleaned. The beach was also not the best. The sand was cool (black sand), but the beach was small and to get from the resort to the beach, you had to walk thru a gauntlet of VERY PUSHY nonresort vendors trying to sell you something. The Star Class beach chairs were also set up RIGHT beside them, so they also didn't leave you alone if you were sitting there. Overall, I was happy with the stay, especially since it was our first time in CR, but would probably try another resort next time.

We stayed at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica for six days during the first week of June 2026, and our experience was outstanding from start to finish. The resort is beautiful, the food was excellent, and the staff consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for throughout our stay. Every interaction was warm, professional, and genuine. We would especially like to recognize Christian, “The Godfather,” and Diana, “Wonder Woman,” for making our vacation truly memorable. Their exceptional service, positive attitudes, and attention to detail made a lasting impression on us. They are a tremendous asset to the resort. Thank you to the entire Planet Hollywood team for an amazing vacation. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back!

Excellent food options and rooms were big and spacious. Hotel needs more drink better quality beer and liquor options. Bar needs to have good quality drinks.

This is not the best planet hollywood. The buildings are so spaced out that you need a shuttle to go from your room to the buildings where the food is or to the pool. The food is not that great and some of the staff are not that friendly. I would not visit this resort again. overall rating is 4/10.

The buffet was amazing. We found that the restaurants were difficult to get a reservations for even trying shortly after we checked into the hotel. We had difficulty getting the app to work for us which is fair given the location and availability of WiFi. There are vendors around the beach area and they do take every opportunity to try and sell. Overall it is a nice property with great amenities.

Everything was amazing. I highly recommend upgrading to Star class. The best excursion was the wellness zip line and horse back riding. The spa was incredible and I used the gym to get my workouts done! There were amazing shows and activities just on the property. We will definitely be back!
