Nagoya JR Gate Tower Hotel (JR-Central Hotels)

The location is fantastic, with plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options nearby. It's directly connected to Nagoya Station indoors, which is incredibly convenient. Plus, there's a bus terminal right downstairs with a tourist bus that costs only 500 yen for unlimited rides for a whole day – super handy!

The hotel's location is unbeatable, right above the JR station, which is super convenient. Takashimaya is right next door and directly connected to the hotel building, making travel incredibly easy! Although we booked the largest room, it didn't feel that big, possibly because of a pillar in a corner of the room. The curtains in the room had to be pulled manually, which felt a bit outdated. Finally, I have to complain about the hotel's terrible soundproofing. Even though we were placed on the highest floor, our room was in the worst possible spot, directly facing the blower of the building across the street. It was running 24 hours a day and was incredibly noisy, especially at night, making it very difficult to sleep. For such a high-end hotel, the soundproofing was surprisingly poor… The hotel later offered to move us to a quieter room on the other side, but we had several suitcases unpacked, and it was too much hassle to repack, so we declined. We had already requested a quiet room when checking in, yet we were still given a noisy room directly facing the blower. I wonder if this was directed at Chinese tourists or the Ctrip platform.

The hotel's location right above the Gate Tower Building and Takashimaya is a definite plus for shopping convenience. However, I think the breakfast could use some improvement. For the price, I found the breakfast spread to be insufficient and not up to par with the hotel's cost. Everything else was satisfactory.

This hotel is super convenient! It's right next to JR Nagoya's south exit – just turn left and take the elevator up. It even connects directly to Takashimaya on the 15th floor. Below the hotel entrance, escalators lead down to floors 12 and 13 which are packed with restaurants. The views are great, and while the room isn't huge, the decor is modern and new. I especially loved the large window! The breakfast was exquisite and delicious, with options like unagi (eel) rice and fried fish burgers.

The facilities and location are great for tourists, and the cleanliness is acceptable. However, during my 6-night stay, I noticed that the room wasn't vacuumed daily, as small pieces of paper I dropped on the first day were still there until I checked out. Even on the 23rd floor, I could hear the subway noise. Overall, it's a good hotel with a reasonable price.
