South Gate Hotel Okinawa Naha Tomari Port (Direct Access to Tomarin)

This hotel has an industrial ocean theme and is located within the cruise center. It's very new and the breakfast is fantastic, especially the French toast which is absolutely divine. It's also super convenient to get to from the airport, just a 15-minute bus ride, five stops away.

The hotel's location is good, with plenty of food options nearby, and easy access to Kokusai-dori. I happened to be there during a typhoon and stayed in the hotel. The facilities only include an onsen and a gym, nothing else particularly special. The hotel's parking costs 2000 JPY per night. If there's a storm or rain, it's okay, as there are places nearby to shelter. It's a shame there's no pool. The hotel itself is quite expensive. Breakfast was just okay, but acceptable.

It's clean. The room is small, but I could enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay. The fridge doesn't have a freezer function, so my ice cream melted. I needed water and ice for a cold compress, so I had to use the water dispenser and ice machine in the hallway.

The room had a stylish American-inspired design and was very clean. My only minor complaint is that the air conditioning only had high, medium, and low settings, without direct temperature control. The toiletries smelled lovely, and they even provided body milk. The bath area was very comfortable, and having a sauna right next to it was a fantastic touch.

I stayed for a total of seven days this time. I was a bit worried initially after reading some reviews, but it turned out the room was spacious and comfortable. The furniture was well-designed and practical (fridge, luggage rack, hangers, etc.). Compared to other hotels, the TV screen was huge, and the bathroom had a separate shower and toilet! In the common areas, there was an ice machine and a water dispenser. My itinerary was packed every day, so I didn't get a chance to experience the large public bath and sauna. The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious, with seafood paella, squid ink pasta, Okinawan soba, stir-fried bitter melon, shrimp dishes, ice cream, fruits, salads, and more. The most amazing dish was the French toast – absolutely out of this world! I'll definitely miss it when I go back to Taiwan! The hotel is right by the harbor, which is super convenient for taking a boat to Zamami Island. There's also a bus stop right outside the hotel entrance. Walking to Kokusai Dori might take about 10 minutes, but that's still acceptable. All in all, this stay was fantastic, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit Okinawa.

Staying here during a typhoon was a unique experience. While there were some minor issues with the facilities, overall, it's a great hotel. The staff were friendly and responded quickly to our needs. I'm looking forward to my next visit, hoping for an even better experience.

Due to a sudden change in weather, my original flight was cancelled, so I had to stay an extra day until the weather improved. The process for rebooking a hotel through Trip.com was incredibly easy and fast. I'll definitely be using Trip.com again for my flight and hotel arrangements next time.

- The hotel's parking lot location wasn't very clear and it was a bit far from the hotel. If you park on level A, you can access the elevator directly. However, if you park on level B, you have to carry your luggage up half a flight of stairs to reach the elevator. If you arrive late, you might have to park on a higher floor, take the elevator to the basement, and then walk to a different building just to reach the check-in desk. - I arrived at the hotel around 8 PM and learned that everything is now electronic, with self-service check-in and check-out. But I stood at the self-check-in kiosk for a long time, probably about 5 minutes, unable to find my reservation. No staff members came to assist, perhaps everyone was busy with their own tasks? It feels like at this hotel, staff won't proactively help unless you ask. Also, be aware that the hotel sends a separate email with its own booking reference number, which you'll need to find your reservation. Searching by your name might not work if the hotel made a mistake, for example, our English name had a long space in between, which prevented us from finding our booking. - I booked a double room, but upon entering, I found that the hotel had upgraded our two-person room to a triple room without prior notification. I appreciate the upgrade, but it wasn't what I wanted. Every time I got in and out of bed, I kept accidentally bumping my head on the upper bunk. - The hotel is still undergoing renovations. This time, I was assigned a room on the 9th floor. Exiting the elevator, the right side was still under renovation, and the smell of paint/renovation was very strong. Around 11 PM, I saw people moving around in the renovation area, and there were many construction workers coming and going during check-out in the morning. - Finally, there's a serious problem! At 7 AM, the room was filled with a very strong smell of cooking oil – like frying sausages and deep-fried food. Even with the air conditioning on, it wouldn't dissipate. I was in room 904, and the restaurant is directly below on the 8th floor. - The only positive aspect is the hotel room's design, color scheme, and all the items used – the hangers, cabinets, mirror cabinet, trash can, and lights are all beautiful and very well-designed. However, the rug outside the bathroom door felt a bit unclean, but it was acceptable to put on slippers immediately after showering and drying off.

Highly recommended! It's a new hotel, which is a plus, and you can really feel the effort they put into making it a wonderful stay. I only stayed for one night, and I regret not staying longer. The location is about a 10-minute walk from the main Kokusai Street, but the hotel is so good that it more than makes up for the slight inconvenience.
