This is my seventh night staying at Duoyuan Youth Hostel 🏨 on September 8th. Today, while playing with the somewhat haughty black and white chubby cat in the lobby, a guy from Wuxi who was traveling suddenly joined me to watch the cat 😺. We chatted quite a bit. Even though I'm in an unfamiliar city, traveling alone, these simple conversations made me feel a sense of familiarity, a closeness that came from these fleeting, pleasant exchanges. I'm very grateful to the hostel for this 'gift.' It might require a bit of luck, but when it happens, it brightens your whole day, and you even leave with a slight feeling of calm and composure. I hope every backpacker who comes to Duoyuan has good luck, good experiences, and meets many wonderful people! 😃 Also, a big thank you to Nanjing Duoyuan Youth Hostel. Two days ago, I asked a staff member at the front desk if they had a bag for me. He couldn't find one, so he just gave me a canvas bag with 'Nanjing' inscribed on it. The beds are clean and that's about it. The mattress is low and not too comfortable but acceptable. The floor of the rooms is very dirty full of hair and dust. Luckily the showers and toilets are not that bad but they are on the Chinese cleanliness standards which is not so high for hostels. It's a big hostel with many guests. It seems that many Chinese live here for a long time. Most people order delivery, eat and then leave their leftovers on the table, I don't understand why they don't clean. Also this is a matter of habits which happens in many hostels in China. Often in the evening it is not easy to find a free seat in the common area because many leave their things on the chairs to keep a place at the table even if they go away for a long time. The WiFi with my vpn sometimes didn't work. The location is in Xinjiekou 5 min by walking from metro station. There are many restaurants and convenience store nearby. Next time I'd choose to stay closer to confucio's temple. The building entrance is so damaged and dirty. In general the hostel would need maintenance, especially the bathrooms. I didn't feel so much comfortable there especially for cleanliness of rooms and floor.

There is no escalator, i need to climb almost 3 floors to reach the hostel with the heavy luggage, and the surrounding staircase to the hostel is creepy. I requested to stay at the lobby to wait for my flight although i already checked out, but was rejected, with the reason lobby is for inhouse guest. Good thing is near the busy town, towel and sandals are provided, air cond inside the room is cold, no personal cabinet to store the luggages, hence all the luggages were stored together like a mass, plus some luggages have been there for long time, belong to no one
