Safestay Naples Materdei

Top hotel, very clean. Helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Quiet. A bit far from the center but there's a metro nearby.

I was only supposed to stay one night, and ended up staying for three :) I'll be back!

I liked the place because it's quite clean, and they clean the bathrooms every day. The only thing was that I was in a 6-bed mixed dorm and was the only woman, but other than that, it's very close to everything and quite cozy. I would definitely stay there again.

The location is very quiet, about a 10-minute metro ride from the city center. The entrance is connected to a church, which initially made me a little worried, but I felt reassured once I saw the arrow pointing to the reception.

I'm a long-term traveler, and due to the weak yen, I opted for a hostel in Naples to save money. The location is excellent! It's just a few minutes' walk downhill from the Materdei station on Metro Line 1. To enter the hostel, you press the intercom, and they let you in (I assume), which provides peace of mind against intruders. Although I saw many young travelers, there was no late-night noise. As for downsides, there was no air conditioning or fan, so it was hot (even in late September). The elevator wasn't working, there were no curtains, and no hairdryer (maybe just in my room?). If you're looking for perfection, places like CX Naples near the central station might be a better fit. However, I believe the air conditioning and elevator will likely be fixed. As for curtains, hanging a towel worked fine. And for the hairdryer, air-drying was manageable (I learned that air-drying is easier in Europe than in Japan because it's drier here, haha). The most appealing aspect is the staff. When I stayed, Trip.com had listed a non-existent room (a 4-person female dorm), which caused a minor issue. However, the staff handled it very kindly and professionally, which I truly appreciated. I think it's a safe place for solo female travelers. I believe this place has a lot of potential and will only get better, so I'm rooting for it!

I liked it, but the service woman wouldn't let me use the bar early, yet she allowed others to. Strange.

The location is quite a distance from the city center, and it's an uphill walk. But in Naples, transportation is generally an issue, so keep that in mind. Check-in is late, at 3 PM. I stayed there for one night. I booked a female-only room, but when I checked in, no one else was there. Late at night, people arrived, and it turned out to be a mixed-gender room. I was the only woman, and the other three beds were occupied by men. It was unpleasant, but there was nothing I could do since it was late at night. There was no air conditioning, only a fan, and the sinks were small with an inconvenient shower.

The food was delicious and the facilities were clean. However, I visited in the summer and there was no air conditioning. The top bunk of the bunk bed didn't get any air from the fan at night, making it hot, stuffy, and difficult to sleep. Other than that, the staff's service was excellent, and the location and cleanliness were also great.
