Naples San Carlo all'Arena Hotels

Our room was nicely spacious and well furnished. The bed was comfortable, there was a good sized wardrobe and a decent desk. The room was beautifully decorated, fresh and spotlessly clean. The bathroom had a good shower, and was roomy plus, again, very well decorated. Also came with a hairdryer on the wall which I was very happy with. We didn't actually meet the owner but they were very helpful on WhatsApp. The internet was good once we realised logging into the named internet with our floor number made it stronger. Despite the cosmetic looks of the area we did actually feel safe and found the locals to be very friendly and helpful (although English is not prevalent). If you are visiting the Tabbaco shop at the bottom of the hill sells bus tickets but is shut on Sundays. Next door the mini supermarket is very well priced (well compared to UK prices). The buses leave from opposite the little newsstand (back side of it not the front) and head to Naples Central in about 15mins. Taxi from the Central Station was a maximum of 16euro and from the airport 30euro I can not comment on value for money as we booked a package deal but despite the location I would stay again because it was so nice, stylish, quiet and comfortable. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in September. The balcony rooms are really nice and have a great view of Mt. Vesuvius. The roof top terrace is amazing and has a view of all of Naples. It stays open until 11pm. Free parking is located inside of the gates of the hotel so you don't have to worry having your car broken into. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are nice and spacious. They are a little dated but that is part of the charm. Breakfast can be had inside or outside on the patio. Breakfast was good but the eggs weren't kept warm. There is a microwave there to zap them so it wasn't a problem. Great coffee and fruit as well. The best part of the stay was the staff. Serena at the front desk was super pleasant and helpful with all our requests. Salvatore in the restaurant was great as well. This hotel is not in the main part of downtown, but a perfect place if you have a car. We never drove our car during the stay-just took cabs to where we wanted to go. You really don't want to drive anymore than you have to in this city! Stopping at stop signs is optional and mopeds zipping all around and in front of you-not for the faint of heart! It is close to the airport if you are flying out of Naples. We loved this place!

Fantastic hotel, lovely breakfast and very kind staff. Pros: eco & power-saving, air con in rooms, beds extremely comfortable, delicious breakfast with plenty of choice, rooms always clean and tidy, reasonable location not too far from centre Cons: very poor tap design, bathroom a little tired and could do with an upgrade, room wasn’t quite ready on time, would prefer breakfast to be a buffet & just help yourself, a smart TV would be beneficial for tourists to access Netflix etc. couldn’t find the wellness centre The cons however didn’t impact our stay enough to mark it down at all. 5 out of 5

The room was small but functional and economical. I think it is value for money as it was secure, clean and comfortable for a sole traveller. The plus point of this place it is near to the train station, and therefore close to a lot of eateries -- really enjoyed by stay here in Naples. Would stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during a visit to Naples. The location is very convenient, walking distance from the old city and next to the underground and train station. The building has been very tastefully refurbished, the rooms were clean and breakfast lovely. There is an amazing roof terrace to grab a drink or dine, with beautiful plants and a wonderful view! A special mention for the staff: everybody was attentive, friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay and will come back if we have the chance.

Pretentious hotel with no particular attractions in a dark alley near Garibaldi station. Anonymous and cold room with unacceptable heating (the hot air ventilation system only starts at 8pm and is also noisy). area you can easily find better for less than half the expected price.

Such a good hotel to stay in Napoli. The room was perfect, super comfortable, well equipped and perfectly clean. The breakfast is very good for the Italian standards and the front desk is always eager to help. Very recommended!

First time in Napoli and we have considered to book one hotel in city center. The hotel is located close to train station and at one reasonable walking distance from many of the city major tourist location. Is clean and organized. Ok for 1 or 2 days Staff very kind

This was my most expensive booking while in Naples for a short holiday. There were some really good aspects to the hotel offering - a very central location next to Garibaldi and a really nice rooftop sundeck pool and bar (although I’m not entirely clear why the sides of the sundeck have been camouflaged with fake foilage, completely blocking out the view across the city). However, my room was really disappointing for the price. While large, and clean, with big traditional balcony windows looking over the street, there were problems throughout the space which demonstrated a lack of attention and care. The toilet flush was broken, with the short flush not working and the main flush jamming so you had to push it several times to shut off the flow. The settee was filthy and needed a good clean. The walls were scuffed and dirty. There were no instructions for the air con. And all the lights bar one in the ceiling were broken. There were slippers but no dressing gown. There was no soap in the bathroom to allow you to wash your hands properly Moreover, the large space was just really under designed. It felt bare and quite soulless, when with some thought it could have been turned into a really lovely space, perhaps with a coffee table to allow one to make meaningful use of the settee etc. generally I was just disappointed given the price and star rating. What is worse, when I explained the issues to the receptionist at the end of my stay he just stared blankly at me and then asked me for the city tax, and in the end I felt forced uncomfortably to ask him explicitly if he had an apology and some kind of explanation for me regarding the issues I had identified. This kind of anti-customer service is entirely unacceptable for any hotel, and it really summarises the underlying problems with this place - claiming to be a luxury hotel when it really isn’t, sadly. Oh, and breakfast fine but not outstanding. Too much cheap processed food (ie cake and dry biscuits) and not enough hot food and healthy options like fresh fruit.
