Mai Sunset Island Resort

We had a wonderful stay at Mai Sunset Resort! As the name suggests, the bures face directly toward the sunset, and every evening we enjoyed sitting on our deck watching the sky come to life. The resort is quite new, and the rooms were spotless and beautifully maintained. We were there with our family, but it would be a very romantic getaway location for two as well. The resort staff were incredibly kind, especially with our young daughter, making her feel special and finding interesting things for her to do with them. She love coconuts, and they were always happy to involve her in collecting them for her to drink. There’s excellent snorkelling in the area, and we found the tours and activities to be much more reasonably priced than those at other resorts we've visited in Fiji. The food is yummy, and there are so many nice local fish dishes to try. This was also our first time in the Yasawa Islands, and the water here is stunning! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay - highly recommended it!

We had an amazing 2 night stay at Mai Sunset, we wished we were able to stay for longer! The perfect place to completely detach yourself from the world and any stresses. We were greeted with a welcome song, flower necklaces and fresh coconuts. We stayed in a female dorm which consisted of 4 single beds, a large bathroom and an outdoor shower, basic but everything you need! Fast and free wifi in the restaurant area. The staff here are so friendly and welcome you in as if you are part of their family. They remembered all of our names. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was all delicious! Offering western foods and traditional Fijian food, we ate mostly Fijian food. We visited the local village where all of the staff that work here are from. Everyone was so friendly and happy to see us when we were there. It really put life in to perspective for us and made us feel even more grateful for the life we have. The older boys climbed a coconut tree and gave us a coconut each to drink! They were so happy to talk and share their village with us. Would definitely recommend taking some gifts for the children of the village, toys, colouring books etc. Also, take some cash if you want to buy some souvenirs like bracelets and necklaces from the local ladies. They are the kindest people and the school children are so sweet and polite. At 4pm they have volleyball, a lot of the staff get involved too. Great fun! Kayaks and snorkels available free of charge. Not a great deal of flipper sizes. We hope the staff are treated as they deserve to be treated as they are what made our experience such a happy and positive one. Idyllic island escape in a beautiful, secluded part of the Yasawa Islands. Made for those wanting to relax, recharge and switch off from the wider world. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful in a wholly authentic way. The bures were extremely comfortable though were missing some inner curtain/blinds for added privacy (it felt that people could see inside quite easily - one small improvement we'd recommend!). Note there's no WiFi connection in the bures if this bothers you - you just have to go to the restaurant area for your connectivity. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting the Fiji islands looking to relax and recharge.
