"Good hotel for a short break. Nice staff and thanks to James for being kind and accommodating our needs. Breakfast is good. Location is out of Swansea though. I wish there was a fitness centre. Free parking. Would stay there again"

St Ives ★★★

📍 12 Old Market Street 12 Old Market, Neath

"We stayed in room 2 for a week while we were waiting for our house to complete and after reading the reviews wasn't expecting much. We can safely say the reviews must be of a different place, from booking the room we were greeted by the manager, who was very friendly, polite and professional, he showed us to our room explained how we get in after ours etc, nothing seemed to much trouble for him or his staff During our stay we never wanted for anything, if we needed fresh towels, more tea and coffee etc we just asked and within minutes it was with us, the room was tidy and clean and cosy, I would have no worries about staying here again"

Castle Hotel

📍 The Parade, Neath

"Located in the heart of the town, a 3-minute walk from the train station, with a shopping street down the back street, and about a 5-minute walk from the large Morrison supermarket. The service is excellent, but the facilities are a bit outdated."

Sgwd Gwladys Lodge ★★★

📍 Sgwd Gwladys Pontneathvaughan Road, Glynneath

"Stayed for 2 nights mid week, paid extra for the bigger room. Slept on the floor 2 nights as the metal bed was so squeaky and you could not make a single move without it squeaking. Bought this to the attention of the staff, they tightened the bed, but didn’t work. Velux roof blinds don’t close properly. The shower…….. apart from being the smallest shower cubicle I’ve ever used, the shower unit was dripping water, the water would be hot, then cold, then scorching. The basin takes forever to get hot, but then you have to turn the tap off as the basin over flows. The food was ok, but very expensive for breakfast especially when staying, would have expected some level of discount for staying. You have to park on the road and then walk along the road to get to the lodge, dicing with cars, due to some roadworks and building work currently going on. The staff are friendly enough and helpful, but when you are paying over £200 for 2 nights there is far more expected and I feel that the rooms need some TLC. The saving grace was the waterfalls but was glad to leave after 2 days so that we could get a decent night sleep. Such a shame but would not return here and would look to stay elsewhere."

"The room facilities are old, but the environment is good, many people come here for a weekend holiday."

"Be booked 2 rooms as my daughter and grandkids were with us, upon arrival we were told no children were allowed in the bar or beer garden at ANY time only in the room. The rooms were dirty and had a bad smell one bed had broken slats and looked ready to collapse I complained they put a thick bit of hard ply wood under it, my daughter said it was like sleeping on the floor. Our room number 4 was just as bad ,stains on the carpet marks all over the walls a window that was lodged open with a cup under it as there was no other way of keeping it open. We did have a TV bracket on the wall but no TV. The toilet and shower stank we were left with 3 half bottles of body wash. This place is a disgusting"

"Myself and Mat arrived at probably one of the busiest times (about 5:30) and hadn’t booked a table. We had such a lovely warm welcome from a friendly ‘Louise’? The manager. She happily welcomed us regardless of the fact that they were fully booked and managed to find us a space for an hour and a half. She was so accommodating as well as all the other staff we encountered that night. After we had ordered food (which was absolutely beautiful) Louise then explained that the people due to be using the table we had arrived but invited us an alternative of sitting on a table at the bar. She made our evening so easy and we will 100% be returning. (It was also a first date, and she made what could have been a disaster - a great experience :)) Thanks so much! "
