I really wanted to give this place a 4 star, but the location of a wedding party opposite my room and the surprising lack of breakfast ( just a box of weetabix and some cookies) made it a little disappointing for me….. That’s a shame as the hotel/pub is a nice place., tranquil (when there is no wedding), a few meters from a great walking path along the coast towards Nelson or Richmond and with a fine pub with good food all on site. The staff are friendly, rooms are clean (if starting to look a little tired) and have most things you could need, even a spa bath! If I was here again however I would investigate the newer and better looking hotel over the road…..
Century Park

The Century Park Motor Lodge was the perfect place for us to stay upon our arrival on the south island of NZ. Our room was spotless, quiet, fully functional including a well stocked kitchen and centrally located to walk to restaurants and the Saturday market. Stacie and her husband own the CPML and were so helpful to us as our luggage on Air NZ was delayed. Stacie jumped right in and help us get it delivered. Her husband helped us step up our rental for navigation purposes... a god send! It appears that there aren't many places to stay in Nelson. This facility had everything we needed and wanted. It was quite easy to drive to a hike in Able Tasman as well as a boat cruise in Picton. We highly recommend CPML to all fellow travelers. Tom L Boston, Ma. USA
Rutherford Hotel Nelson - A Heritage Hotel

Stayed here for a couple of nights whilst on a tour, with 40+ people, so they knew we were coming. Only as we got near did they tell us that, despite arriving about 7pm after a very long day, both the bar and the restaurant would not be open, due to staff shortages. I was happy to go out into the town to eat, but others in our party were not, owing to the fact that there was torrential rain outside, yet were faced with no alternative. Definite black mark for such a major hotel. They have an outside pool and I wanted to go for a swim, yet was told that the pool was closed ”for the winter”. Again, poor show. My room was OK, but only a couple of very thin pillows, not very comfortable. Bathroom small and a little tired. Having said all that the staff were lovely & super-helpful. The lobby and the Dining Room were large & comfortable. The breakfast buffet was OK, but there was no egg station. So overall, not a great experience.

Great kitchen units at a reasonable price. Beds comfortable. Would have been nice to have a coffee plunger in the units but other kitchen utensils that were needed were provided. Parking is at the front of unit. You need to bring your own towels.
Tuscany Gardens Motor Lodge

A 4 night stay in a lovely apartment, spotlessly clean, tidy and modern. Off street parking right outside our door, a really comfortable bed and pillows, great shower and a handy well equipped kitchenette, outside private patio with chairs and table. Daily room service. Our hosts Paul and Adela were very welcoming and accommodating. Walking distance to the beach and very close to many shops bars and restaurants, a lovely area to spend some in, we were very happy with finding Tuscany Gardens Motor Lodge and would highly recommend this place to any visitors to Nelson. “ Thanks for a great stay “
Boutique Motel

Two couples travelling together and we spent two nights at the Boutique Hotel. Very friendly and helpful welcome and departure - nice people who care about business. Everything was perfect and we would be happy to stay here again. An added bonus was each of us receiving a quality free espresso/latte at a nearby cafe which apparently is within the same ownership.
